Thinking of Cancelling Surgery!!!
girlie2shooz replied to ceinman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
FairyFacade, good for your for pointing out the obvious. That is the beauty, it can be removed. I have empathy with those who suffer from anxiety, but we are all here to tell our stories. Best wishes in all your endeavors future banders, including lapband surgery. g2s -
Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...
girlie2shooz replied to Headhunter's topic in Rants & Raves
Just my $.02, sorry it didn't work for you man, but I for one am not gonna sit around and worry about tomorrow. I love my band, my band works for me and it if doesn't then so be it. I made MY choice and I will live with it. The ramblings and the "long stories" don't scare me, I am responsible for my life, no one else. Whoever feels they have to be my saviour can kiss my ass, don't encroach on my person. I will live my life to the fullest and scare tactics for get rich quick schemes don't work on me. If it didn't work for Headhunter well too F'ing bad. It is working for me and that is what matters. If somewhere down the road it doesn't then I will deal with it then. And don't give me that crap that "talk shows came looking for you." that is BS because someone had to let your story be known (if it truly exists) to begin with, you are a tiny speck on the radar and there are bigger selling stories than yours. Take a look at what really sells, sex, rehab, and more sex. Don't insult my intelligence by assuming I would believe the BS story for a minute. I educated myself thoroughly before getting my band, and I mean thoroughly, good and bad. You know what? I made a great choice. I look in the mirror every morning and am very happy with who is looking back, I hope you can do the same. g2s -
Getting first fill, only 25 days post op!
girlie2shooz replied to moonshadow2468's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lise, glad to see you got your "restriction." I know you felt pretty good about your first fill and the restriction you had with that fill. But then you noted you weren't feeling "it." I had my first fill 4/17 and definately feel a diff. 2 fried eggs for breakfast this morning and I feel that sensation of a little tightness in my throat in the area where my collar bones come together at my neck. I would like to think it will last awhile, however my next fill is 5/28. My PA said if i am feeling to "loose" to call and come in sooner, so that is coolio. I also have the 10cc band and currently have 3cc, 2 were added during surgery. Glad to see you are doing well and thanks for the great blog. g2s -
Looking for some support in Reno!!
girlie2shooz replied to yourowndestiney's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
if you are referring to me, yes i had my first fill 4/17/2008. made a big diff, not quite the "sweet spot" but a big diff. i had two fried eggs this morning and am happy to report that I am full, and comfortable. how are you coming along, who will do your fills for you? g2s -
1st fill today, confused on what happened
girlie2shooz replied to eejaydiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
yah as you lay down your skin moves so when you stand up the skin is in a different place. did anyone look at their fill area close? I have the poke where she numbed the area and then I have four needle holes in a perfect square. It is as if the injection needle has four needles to pierce the port with even pressure. Anyone know what I am talking about? g2s -
First fill today.. no problems
girlie2shooz replied to moonshadow2468's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i have a 10cc band as well. had 2 cc put in at surgery, and 1 cc my first fill 4/17/2008. i thought that wouldn't make much of a diff until i had solids last night. yah there is a difference. i wouldn't say my "sweet spot" but def diff. i had two fried eggs for breakfst this morning and i can feel the "diff." It kinda feels like your need to swallow, just a slight pressure in your throat. It seems so odd to feel "full" after a lifetime of not feeling remotely close to full. i believe my PA said it would now be .5 cc at each fill. I can see why. g2s -

2 days post op and having doubts.
girlie2shooz replied to spoodles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
........as far as the pain goes, don't be afraid to ask your doc for a different Rx for pain meds. I myself am allergic to tylenol so my doc prescribed Lortab which is a liquid vicodan. works great if you have pain, wires you if you don't. Hope that helps.....g2s -
Swallowing air - Does it get better?
girlie2shooz replied to Sidd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe I posted this for another bandster, but here we go. I felt like you for quite some time after being banded 3/5/08. once the healing had progressed, and I would feel like I had to burp, i would just bend over at the waist and it seemed to push the air back out. I still do this today for comfort. This does the trick for me, I burp and I fell better. hope that helps. p.s. if i tried to force a burp early on i got the shoulderpain radiating up into my neck but not anymore. g2s -
google lap band and take a look at their website, it is a wealth of info. g2s

Hostile Work Environment Or Just Another Excuse
girlie2shooz replied to MollyBrown's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am curious, who is putting the food in your mouth? Take control of your situation and deal with issues head on. You have a support system in place to deal with him. If there is retribution then make a daily record of what you feel is retribution and let the HR/EEO rep take care of the issue. Do your job to the best of your abilities and focus on you and not the drama. if you are doing your job IAW your work performance standards then you are right on and have nothing to fear. And just a little note from military back ground, he is your supervisor, not your Colonel if you are a civilian. You make your life what it is and it is your choice. If you feel he is harsh in speaking directly to you, then call him on it. Ask him why he feels he need to speak to you in a demeaning manner? There is no harm in that. Stand up for yourself and move on. You are allowing him to control you with yoru constant obsessing. Live your life happy every chance you get. g2s -
the rudeness of others
girlie2shooz replied to Bunkey1965's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
just my theory.............little boys played team sport/games. girls played with dolls, typically by themselves, hence no competition. with competition comes winning/losing and getting over it. girls are always supposed to be nice and kind and not say a harsh word, while boys can chide each other over who is or isn't a good player and be done with it. as girls we didn't have the "team experience" in playing house or dolls, or dress up. so as girls we were not exposed to the team effort that boys were and don't have the competition ingrained. so we are or can be the sensitive ones. what they did said more about them than it did you. but that is just my theory..........g2s -
call your medicaid office and get a list of covered procedures. i believe medicaid does approve wls. if you have applied for TANF or just plain FMC, call medicaid to see what your benefit will cover, typically it is what medicare covers and medicare covers wls. also, have you looked into SSI, or RSDI? You may have a condition that warrants a disability which may help with a small monthly monetary benefit. if you have recently applied for medicaid, get your pending slip and go and see a doctor and discuss a PLAN with him. If you just had heart surgery, my guess is a doctor wants to follow your progress and ensure your healthy. Then take a realistic approach to WLS. You are worth more than Ebay! Take one step at a time and you will be on your way. Yes you do need/want to lose weight, your heart needs to be healthy, and you need to exercise. With heart surgery, processes happen in a methodical manner. You need to discuss ALL of this with a doctor, it is not going to be a quick fix, but one you can live healthy with the right direction. g2s

5 weeks, 3 fills, NO restriction! Is my band a dud?
girlie2shooz replied to LiseSeattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lise, you rock girl! you have said what we all want to say when it just seems like "it ain't working for me." I am the most impatient girlie in the whole world and part of my learning and changing is realizing that time takes care of everything. you ate more than normal, haven't we all? Again we can't change the world but we can change ourselves, go to lunch but go somewhere that YOU know has what YOU should eat. Sometimes we all just want to go with the flow, when people ask me where should we eat, I say I need to go to "X" because they have what is good for me. Make the decision for you and no one else. That is taking control, and it doesn't mean we are being a B!&^%. It means we are taking care of ourselves as we should. Go girl, you have done great, and remember fills are not a science (wish they were). I have my first fill 4/17 and from my understanding they aren't real liberal with fills, but every little bit helps right? This is a learning period for me, i will go with it. Doesn't mean i like it, but there is a lesson to be learned and my awareness of the whole eating process is changing in the mean time. You really have done well and believe me, your posts/blog are an inspiration. what really matters is never the easy target. g2s -
dietition says if I dont follow diet..........
girlie2shooz replied to reenie11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
just a thought.....................maybe a long look at your expectations of the band, and yourself. Yes doctors do vary in their approach to the surgery, but obviously your approach to eating has not been a positive experience. maybe a reevaluation of your commitment to changing your lifestyle is appropriate. What you put in you get out, nobody rides for free. You have a choice, either do it right or don't do it. It isn't rocket surgery. It is your choice, choose wisely. Success depends on you and you only. g2s -
Can't give up COFFEE!
girlie2shooz replied to abeaher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am very sad, i loved coffee before bandiing. now i can hardly handle a cup a month. i have been drinking sf hot chocolate with a scoop of instant coffee. that is great but i looked at the sodium content today and holy moly, 210mg of sodium per serving. i miss real coffee even more now! g2s -
Yah I tried that card thing, they said, uh.......no. I am cool with that, I don't go that often to worry about it, so no big dealio. g2s

What does a small bite look like?
girlie2shooz replied to princess_sophie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey I lost my grand love of coffee too!! It kind of saddens me because I always liked stopping at Starbucks and it was always like my little fun for the day. Only coffee with cream, no foo foo drinks. I always had an 8 cup pot in the morning, now i do s/f hot chocolate with instant coffee. I really miss the little thrill of Starbucks, crazy huh? Sure saves $$ though. Anyone else lose taste for one of their favorites?? g2s -
I was going to pose the very same question. I will not have my first fill until 4/17, was banded 3/5. I have recently started back to the gym and do my share of strength training and cardio. I have always been a jogger, even at my fattest. when i get home from the health center in the evening and try to eat, look out, restriction city!! I can't eat but maybe, maybe 1 oz of ground beef and 1 oz of vegetable. I then either 1. wait until I can eat, or 2. have a yogurt. typically i take #2 because I feel a few less calories aren't going to kill me before my fill. I believe it is due to my circulation being up from the cardio and my cellular chemistry working to fuel the increased activity.........anyone wanna chime in here??? g2s

Just Banded Question
girlie2shooz replied to Lapbandpenny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
congrats. the gas thing does go away, and don't worry about the other end, it will happen as well. i presume you are on liquids only so not so much in means not so much out. and don't try any fibre mixes to soon, they may cause intestinal gas that is uncomfortable right now as well. walk walk walk walk, it makes the inflation gas recede. it only gets better........g2s -
