Lizardlady got a reaction from char3672 in Would you do it again?
Yup! I would absolutely do it again. As scared as I was pre surgery, it was mostly all just in my head. 2 months should be more than enough for you to be feeling better. As far as throwing up..... well it does happen and even now something may not sit with me well but it's usually something that I probably should not have eaten in the first place and I immediately feel better after. Even if I threw up every day, it would still be worth it for me. You have to be willing to take the good with the bad and weight the pros and cons for yourself.

I was also told that the act of chewing gets your saliva (starting process to digest food) and the acid in your stomach going because it makes it expect food. If you don't give it food then it just confuses your body and I forget how, but it makes you gain weight indirectly. I'm not a doctor and this could be a myth (even some professionals believe some things that later turn out to be myths) but I don't think it's worth the risk if it is true.

Your post makes me feel much better. I definitely do not want to cheat all the time. I want to be successful so I'm hitting the "reset" button and doing a liquid diet just to make sure I don't fall off the wagon from the past few weeks of splurging. Even with all of the "bad" things I ate, I at least attempted to make it healthier (taking the breading off, skipping the crust, avoiding the rice). I know they still aren't healthy things but compared to what I USED to do, I'm at least making an effort now if I do eat something unhealthy and I'm conscious of the things I'm eating. I'm just not sure it's enough of an effort to continue losing weight even if it isn't every day (or every week/month) that I eat the unhealthy things. It makes me feel like I'm going to fail when I eat something unhealthy.

Keep moving forward. I am 2 years post-op and did a big cheat for several months and paid a big price in weight gain. Don't be like me! One of the biggest things that kept me in that cycle of eating junk (and too much of it!) was the shame and feeling that "Oh well, I blew it. I might as well eat what I want now!"
Just go right back to doing what you should! You'll get there.

I think your weight loss pace is on track - stalls are normal.
Life is challenging. When my dad died in June I was NOT going to add to my mom's stress by needing certain foods. I decided whatever was brought to us I would try to make the best of it. and I learned that I will be ok if I am not picture perfect in my food choices all the time. once I got home and back to work I went back to the comforts of my normal post surgery food routine and choices and I did the same when I went back home on vacation at the end of July.
The reason I choose the sleeve was the flexibility. Once fully physically healed, life continues - my point is at some time you are going to be at someone's wedding, birthday party, whatever and you will want to Celebrate with everyone else. Keep your diet where it should be the rest of the time, enjoy the event and move on with your life. Don't let food have the power to make you feel guilt. When I was home the last time one night I had half a waffle with maple Syrup and fresh picked wild raspberries. my Mama had picked them because I love them. NO way was I going to hurt her feelings by not having some. the JOY of the sleeve for me (I used to be diabetic) is that after I ate that I took my blood sugar- completely normal. do I eat things like that on a daily basis? NO WAY.

My nut actually made a joke about "Flinstone Vitamins DO NOT count!" My surgeon and nut both recommended either the Bariatric Fusion (with iron) or the Celebrate brand. Both are chewable and both are available on the BariatricPal Store. They are about the same price as my surgeon's office. Only thing I will say is that the Iron seems to be making me..... constipated lol. So watch out for that! Otherwise, they are pretty darn good vitamins.

Yup! I had cravings JUST like when I was pregnant as well. I wanted tacos soooooo bad! There were several cravings I had (seafood was another) but that was one that lasted for about a week. I still get cravings even now but it has lightened up now that I'm 1 month out. First few weeks were the hardest I think. Now I'm so focused on trying to figure out food that will give me more Protein without all the carbs that if I do have a craving, it's fleeting because it usually doesn't fit with what I NEED for that day.

Go crazy trying different veggies. This time year with all of the veggie stands popping up everywhere, fresh veggies are inexpensive.
My eight year old grandson makes roasted carrots using the recipe above. It's easy and fun.
Tomorrow is Farmers' Market here in town. Kaleb wants to try green tomatoes. Why not? I think we will use added lemon on those.
I love it that he wants to cook.

I struggled with veggies that had skins or were fibrous, e.g. cherry tomatoes or sting Beans. Definitely experiment but overall moist, soft veggies worked best for me initially, e.g. sauteed zucchini or veggies that I overcooked a bit.

How about roasting some veggies?? I have them almost every day.
    I use:
    Brussel sprouts
    or
    Carrots
    or
    Cauliflower
    or
    beans--green
    or
    zucchini
    or
    snap peas
I put them on a cookie sheet with just a spray of olive oil. then I add crushed fresh garlic (I love garlic, so I use a whole bulb). I then add two Tblspns of nutritional yeast (it adds a cheesy flavor plus 7-8g of protein), salt, pepper. rosemary and thyme or Mrs. Dash. and/or lemon pepper.
Pop it into the over at 425 degrees for about 24min.--flipping them over half way through.
They're a wee bit softer than raw, but not mushy.
Try it and let me know what you think.
Good luck, and happy veggie hunting.

My post op diet consists of having at least 1 Protein shake a day even after I'm on regular textures but I can't stomach them much anymore, at least for right now. I got sick of them pretty fast. If you're wanting something "fruity" then you could try Isopure 0 carb (if your diet is like mine and limiting carbs) or you could try Syntrax nectar brand fruity flavors. They do have a variety pack on the BariatricPal Store that I got to try. Here's the link: https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/variety-packs/products/syntrax-nectar-protein-powder-sampler-variety-bag-15-flavors
I haven't come across any Protein that doesn't have ANY flavor at all. Even the unflavored Protein Powder does change the taste of things but Syntrax does also have an unflavored powder that is supposedly "virtually tasteless in food and drink." To me though, it does still have some flavor to it but maybe give it a try.

I used spices post opt to liven up my limited menu. My first treat was refried Beans with a little melted cheese. I'd add either Stubbs spicy BBQ Sauce or Green Tabasco. I think spices are a great way to enhance Protein.

Surgery was 6/21 and I'm like you, I'm already over my Soups and broths. I like to cook real food so I jumped to soft foods early but now I regret it because I gained 2 pounds. My doctor said it was a bit early to move to soft foods so I decided to give the liquids/soups another try for 2 more weeks.
My favs so far have been the sugar free Popsicles and Hot and Sour Soup from my favorite Chinese restaurant. I might try the potato flakes with chicken broth as well.
Being a foodie, this is going to be a tough journey but with this support, I know I can make it through it. You will too

As long as you get up every few hours and move around and keep yourself hydrated you should be fine. I slept A LOT the first 2 weeks and I didn't even take my pain meds (cept 1 pill on day 3 cuz I had a migrane as well ugh!). It may not just be the meds making you tired. I tend to get very tired whenever my body has a major injury that needs to heal.

Try the Rockin' Refuel protien shakes. They are in the dairy section. There are 3 versions. Lean builder and muscle builder are the two I find that fit the doctor prescribed criteria. They taste like milk but have no lactose. 30mg or 20mg of Protein.

I am basically surviving the Protein shakes by making this: optimum nutrition vanilla powder scoop, 4 ounces of fair life milk, 4 ounces of Water, and 2 tablespoons of PB2. Put in a Blender Bottle and shake. Not too thick and not too sweet

I experimented with dozens of different Protein supplements. But since individual tastes are do different, You can get single serve packets from Nashua Nutrition and check em out for yourself.
Ones I Really liked were....quest, Syntrax nectar, body fortress, syntha6, muscle milk, powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and Spirutein
Ones that I hated and would never try a second time were....SAN Raw fusion, Bariatric Advantage, Bariatric Fusion, designer whey, SDC Nutrition, and Isopure.
Ones that were OK But not my favs were Protizyme, Jay Robb, Click, and javapro
And, BTW, I always dilute RTD with milk or Water and use twice as much liquid as instructed to cut the thickness and sweetness. Adding Torani syrups and PB2 to various Protein powders gives you nearly unlimited flavor possibilities.....chocolate Peanut Butter, vanilla almond, chocolate banana, strawberry banana, Irish cream, Peanut Butter cookie, raspberry vanilla, red velvet cake and caramel, chocolate mint, English toffee, hazelnut, vanilla pumpkin pie, gingerbread, Orange dreamsicle, peach mango, cherry lemonade, piña colada, etc......
However, I Do NOT recommend mixing Syntrax Apple and Torani caramel. It does NOT taste like a caramel apple
