5 Days Post-Op & I'm Starving!
rosestara replied to minervaxx6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am now 20 days post op and for the first 2 weeks I was hungry all the time. I would wake up feeling like I was starving to death. It was real hunger and not head hunger and it didn't go away by drinking. Actually I never felt full even once during my first 2 weeks. Then I moved to puree foods and now I feel much better. I still get hungry but it is natural hunger. I now wake up feeling fine and eat breakfast then I get hungry a few hours later when it is time for the next meal. I also now get very full on puree food but it doesn't last for a long time unless I eat too much. -
It depends on what your insurance company and surgeon requires. My insurance company didn't require me to lose weight but my clinic did. I had to have some type of loss every single month for 6 months or else they won't even submit to insurance company. Most people do lose a lot on the liquid diet but usually that starts after you are already approved so that won't be taken into account.

I'm almost 3 weeks out and I go back to work next week. i only have a desk job but I am still exhausted and frequently have nausea. I can't imagine going back next and i certainly couldn't have done it after one week. I had one day after about 10 days out where I thought I felt good so I was cleaning with just a little light bending and no lifting and I was in pain the whole rest of the day and scared that I might have hurt myself.

yes you really need to call surgeon, sounds like a stricture maybe

I'm a little over 2 weeks out and I have never thrown up. I weigh all my food and eat only what I am supposed to

Every person and program is different. i stayed one night because I was doing well and drinking well but the woman in the room next to mine who went to my same clinic was in for 2 nights because of nausea and blood pressure being either too high or too low, I don't remember. She didn't have blood pressure issues before surgery

I just started puree diet today and I can eat almost anything. They said 1 to 2 oz protein (any protein) and 2 oz vegetable 3 times a day pureed. Starchy carbs not allowed but if you weren't told not to have certain things then I don't see what you did wrong.

Tired already of liquid!
rosestara replied to bossportsgal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you are luckier than most people if you can move on in 7 days. I have been on full weeks for 2 weeks since surgery (and 2 weeks before surgery). Tomorrow I have my appointment so i can move on to puree. Good luck to you in 2 days -

HELP! Freaking out - need honest feedback
rosestara replied to minervaxx6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone has already had great replies to this topic but I will tell my experience since my surgery was just on Wednesday. I had minor pain and no gas pain at all. They only had me on iv pain meds for the first 8 hours or so. After that they wanted me to use liquid for pain. I did that it was fine. Now I am home and I have a small amount of pain but it is very manageable. For me, everything was easier and less pain than I expected. But that is just my experience. -

2017 approval
rosestara replied to BubblesOhSoSleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea I was trying for a december date because I had not only met my deductable but I had also met my max out of pocket for the year. I would not have had to pay anything for december date but now I have to pay 3500 because that is my max out of pocket and it includes my deductable. My copay is 20%. I am using FSA to pay for 1500 and the rest I will have to put on a credit card. -
SCARED OF GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY!
rosestara replied to SIR.CKRISS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is Jan 4th 2017 and I read all the scary things that you did but the other thing I saw was that almost everyone that had complications said they would still do the surgery all over again. Even one guy that had the worse complications I have ever heard of and took a year to recover still said he was glad he had the surgery. So that is what I asked myself. If I have one of the bad complications, do I still think it would be worth it if I reach my goal weight? For me the answer is yes because I am 45 years old and I have been overweight my entire life. I am willing to take the chance. You just have to make sure that for you, it is worth taking the chance and even with complications could you still be okay with having the surgery -
when I got my approval, it had a random date on it also. My surgeon's office said they do that so approval can go through. They called my insurance company back and gave them actual date after I got an actual date

Just make sure that october 20th is really your last visit. often it takes 7 visits because the first one doesn't count because it is the initial weigh in. Most insurance companies want 6 full months of supervised weight loss so the first visit doesn't count. My first visit was may 23rd and my last visit is nov 22

That's odd, I hope I don't lose anymore height. I am already 5'3 when I have been 5'4 my entire life. I am still months away from my surgery but I will certainly have them measure my height periodically after my surgery to see if I shrink like you did!
