  1. Hi. I had gastric bypass November 22, 2016. My 4 month blood work showed my ferritin at a 5. I was sent to hematology, they ordered 4 iron infusions. 1 per week for a month. Ordered a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. On April 26 my primary ran my iron and ferritin. My ferritin was 314(H) and my iron was 155. I met with my hematologist a week ago, exactly a month later. My tests came out fine. Scary part is my ferritin was a 60 and my iron a 55. She is ordering a test of the mid area that I can't remember the name of, and moved my blood work up to the 12th. I asked her to run it sooner because I'm afraid of all the ferritin disappearing and it taking another month to feel better again. I'm having it checked tomorrow. Has this happened to anyone? Any ideas what could be happening? It's ovious something is wrong but other then being weak from anemia I've had no problems at all from day one. Thank you in advance.
  2. I think the first month we are allowed things like juice and bananas to get in extra calories that after we start eating normal it depends on how strict you want to be. Every individual is difrent as is our plans. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Meds after surgery

Tyvm. That's a good point. I sometimes run out of the 2.0 because I get 120 of the .5 and I won't do that again. The .5 even taking extra don't work in it's place. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. Hi all. I have a surgery date for Nov. 22nd and I'm leaning towards Gastric Bypass. My only concern is I take 2 time realeased meds. Wellbutrin 300 a day. Xanax 2.0 time released and .5 as needed. I have an appointment with my primary and my surgeon said they would address it in the hospital also. Has anyone been in this situation and found a solution that worked? It took me a long time to get my meds right and I don't want to fix my physical at the cost of my anxiety and depression. Thx in advance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I don't comment often. I'm not a newbie or a vet. I've had the band for 3 years this past May. When I decided to do the band it was with the knowledge they eventually fail and I can get the sleeve. I was afraid of the bypass and my insurance didn't cover the sleeve. Since I started working towards the sleeve I've followed all the rules I was taught with the band and have lost 50lbs. Since January. Most since April. I'm eating totally within the program now so I have less to lose when I'm sleeved or if they decide not to sleeve me I will make it work either way. My counselor asked me today if I would talk to another girl about wls because I'm the most informed patient she's ever had. Will I ? Idk. I just know I don't like how things are here right now. I'm considering going back to thinner times. They have moderators there and they are kind and helpful without gossiping and hurting people. This is supposed to be a safe place and it doesn't feel that way to me anymore. True vets wouldn't be petty. And I feel a poster asking for advice doesn't need to be beat down by everyone who considers themselves a "vet". I'm truly hurt by what's going on and I don't make wrong choices. I gained 5 lbs and was able to figure out from what I read here that I wasn't eating enough. Last night I lost the 5 lbs plus one more. So I read I learn but the sarcasm and eat what you want people are taking it seriously. Does that make anyone a good vet? This was a really nice post...at first Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I feel if you don't want to help in a sincere and thoughtful way keep your thoughts to yourself. If your gonna drag up others mistakes on a forum over n over again then why waste your time stressing yourselves out? Idk how long Alex is going to allow you to keep giving your 2 cents when u carry it to another post that doest involve them. I hope you get your vet forum soon. I don't see where you really want to help. Hurting people's feelings when they own up to a mistake usually makes things worse. It's easy to take disapproval from your parents and feel it again in some of these posts you call hard love. You can say it in a posotive encouraging way. If your so over it you can't keep quiet. I'm not saying this out of guilt. I'm saying it with empathy and compassion. Never make someone who comes here and admits and takes accountability feel lower then they already do. We are all people. We all are imperfect. People come here for help it doesn't have to be this way. I've learned a lot from reading here everything but I don't like what you call hard love. It's more sarcasm and str out rude at times. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Starting over with the band..

I got the band in May 2013. I lost 112 lbs. I'm not sure because I had the right restriction, more because I'd been following the rules to a T. Working out. My lowest weight was 203. I had a breakdown and saw a therapist and dr every couple weeks. I was put on disability and worked on getting me on the right meds. Jan 4th I went to the consultation in Lebanon NH for the sleeve. My weight was 315 the day before. My weight is now 268.8 and I feel my band is playing a part in it. Though I do eat as I was taught by my nutritionist years ago. I still have the sleep study and the endoscopy on the 17 and the 22. Then I start working towards getting the sleeve. But I wonder if they will do the sleeve at this point. Group meetings blood work nutritionist ect. There's a chance I could be sticking with the band like you and either way I'm ok. I get stuck a lot on Protein. Your right at the first meeting they talked about how little weight people lose with the band. I admire your determination and wish you the best. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I think the points been made. We all get it. Give it a rest pls. If I was her I'd be afraid to ask for advice again, and that would be the real tragedy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    What Is Wrong With Me?

I had the band installed 3 years ago next month. I started at 312 post surgery. I studied so much about the GB that I decided I didn't like the what I read the Futhet out I went. So I went with the lapband. Once I got to the right restriction I was at 203lbs. Basically I had did it all myself. Few months later I had an issue at work. I could and would not move an elderly lady by myself when she was a 2 person lift. I told her I couldn't do it she insisted. I had anxiety and didn't go to work that day. Got meds from my pcp. And before the end of the month I was throwing everything up. I'm switching to the sleeve and feeling of with how rude the woman who answers the phone is. If they want you to fax a request yelling at me I can't do it myself?? Is so unnecasary. I don't want to go back where I was over a year ago so I'm doing the trial liquid diet to distract myself. With 4oz of meat n salad. The band doesn't work til you get to the right restriction. Hang in there Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Insurance submission

I'm working with Dartmouth in we had to sigh a letter to get along with the staff or we are out of the program. My paperwork all went in. Supposed to take 2 weeks. 2 weeks and a call the following Monday. They wanted a few labs, mammogram and b&d blood work and my band info from a different hospital. I had them taken care of and double checked that tues (with my dr office and band hospital). I needed paperwork from them I need to send back. Been a week. Nothing. My Dr disliked them to the point he wasted a month. Now I understand why. It feels like the lady that runs the program is a b..ch cuz she can be. Sigh Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
