I'm right there with you. I keep waiting for it to jump start again but hasn't really happened but I am trying to tell myself that 2 pounds a week is good and quit being so greedy. Tonja

I had my band placed May 23rd and have lost 32 pounds since then. I am glad to see that I am in the ballpark with someone else. I was afraid I should have lost more as it has really slowed down to a pound here and there. Good job so far! Tonja

Dr. Hung's number is 402-441-4760. Make sure your friend does her research if she is going to Mexico. Not every place is safe so she needs to research it alot. I went to Mexicali with Dr. Aceves. Dr. Alberto Aceves M.D. - Welcome Tonja

I was banded on May 23, 2008 in Mexico and have my first fill scheduled for July 23, 2008 with Dr. Hung at St. Elizabeth's in Lincoln. Email me if you have any questions. I would be glad to talk with you. Where did you have it done in Mexico?

Well, the gas is tremendously better. Praise the Lord. Tummy still is really tender. Taught CPR today, up, down all around probably not a good plan. Otherwise doing okay. Mood seems to really be up and down. Could just be me. Having trouble trying not to cheat on my diet. That hasn't changed since before the band. Keep reminding myself that i need to be careful, don't want to screw it up since I had to pay cash. Hope everyone is well. T

Okay, I know myself well enough to know that this is probably just me but 8 days out I am now tired of the pain. I have gas, my stomach hurts, my port surgical site hurts, I can't do what I want and everyone is having great food around me and I can't eat. Wahhhhhh! What a baby I am! This sure had get better soon. (I was like this when I had major knee surgery too) I want to feel good again and have life easy. It is hard getting used to the having to think so much. No just stopping for a pop and some food. I have to plan ahead. Not good for me. I know I am not eating enough protein cuz just to make the shakes makes me want to throw up. I know it is in my head. In the last two days my family has had my favorite meals, steak, bbq ribs, french silk pie from Village Inn. I truly think they hate me! lol. I think I am done whining thanks for listening. T

Wow what a difference in doctors orders! I had 5 days of strictly clears and have now moved up to thin clears-I can have V-8 juice now. This is for the next 5 days. Understand the gas. Called my dr yesterday to ask if anything else but Gas x but office said no. Took mylanta anyway I was hurting. Also got my local GP to prescribe Tylenol with Codiene liquid. I started a new job in December so have no sick time so went back to work on Tuesday. Some reason I couldn't sleep past 5 am this morning. Probably cuz I don't have to go into work till 10 today and could sleep late.:wink2: I am having trouble still getting liquids down. Took me all day to eat 8 ounces of Jello. Got in 21 grams of protein though. I am hoping a little better every day will get me through. Hope your day goes well. I loaded up with my pain med already to get me started off okay. Tonja

I managed to make it home on Sunday. Rested yesterday and back to work today. Working seems to take my mind off how bad I feel. Still hurts more than I think it should but it is manageable. Lots of gas pains too. I am going to try and keep plugging away at work. Tonja

I am having the same problem. So far today I have had 8 ounces of broth and about 16 ounces of hot tea. I drink, I get gas, I hurt, I don't drink then start the cycle all over again. I know I will be really tired tonight but still trying to plug away at work. Good luck.:smile2: Tonja

I am not doing very good with the drinking. I am only up to 32 ounces today. I have been taking my liquid amoxil, dissolving my toradol (for pain), drinking liquid tylenol and liquid motrin and even slipped in a xanax to help with the pain. I also have been using the gas x strips. My upper abdomen feels swollen. I think most of my pain is probably gas. I made homemade beef broth. Strained it before I drank it. I tried drinking the Kelloggs Protien lemonade but didn't seem to go down so well. I also drank warm tea. Seems like warm stuff goes down better. Looking forward to taking my sleeing pill and going to bed. Thanks for the support. It sure helps.

I was also banded on the 23rd. I expected to feel better by now. Supposed to work in the morning. Not sure how well that is going to go. Hoping for the best. Tonja

Hi! I was also banded on the 23rd. I am sleeping okay as I have sleeping pills-long history of sleep problems another story. But having just more pain in general than I thought I would. Are you taking anything for pain? You might try liquid benadryl to help you sleep. I know I have used it in the past for sleep issues. Don't know if I am much help. Tonja

Jaclyn, I went to Mexico and it was wonderful. I went to Mexicali and Dr Aceves and Dr. Campos did the surgery. The hospital is the best hospital I have ever seen and I am an RN and have been in lots of hospitals. It was an adventure for me too but has went well so far-I am currently in the San Diego airport waiting for a flight home. I had the surgery on Friday and am doing great today. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have for me. Tonja

I just received my band yesterday, May 23, 2008. So far so good. I was banded by Dr Aceves in Mexicali, Mexico. Fly home to Fremont, Nebraska tomorrow. Not looking forward to long day but should be okay. Congrats to all the other new bandsters. Tonja:smile2:

Hi! I went to the weight loss seminar with Dr. Huang in February. At the time it was going to cost $15,000.00 self pay with him. I decided that was too much so am going to go to Dr. Aceves in Mexico. My surgery is scheduled for this Friday the 23rd of May. The surgery and all fees will be 7900.00. The flight for myself and my daughter is $1000.00 ( I waited too long to book). At the time of the seminar Dr Huang said he would do fills for Mexican bandsters for 250.00 each. Even if I get lots of fills I will still save money. I figure the fills I can save up for as needed where the surgery is one lump some. I think I will try and call his office again to see if he will still do fills. I am getting really excited and looking so forward to losing weight. I am so tired of feeling like s...t.

Kristin, I am from Fremont and am going to Mexico May 21st to get the lapband. It is nice to think someone who lives close has done this. How is it going? It is getting close so I am getting nervous. Tonja

Hi Ollie, I am a 40 year old mother of 6 and am scheduled for the lap band in Mexico on May 23 with Dr Alberto Aceves. Everything but the airfare and food for my caretaker is around $7800.00. Let me know if you have any other questions. I will be glad to help with what I can. Tonja

Greg, Are you still happy with Mexico? Where do you go for fills? I am still looking at all the options as I will be self pay also. Tonja

Introduction from Nebraska
TandTF replied to Glenda W's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Glenda, I am also from Nebraska. Where did you have your surgery? I am just now starting my lap band journey. Did find out that my health insurance will not cover a thing. Now what? Have a great day. Tonja -
Hi! I am from Fremont NE and looking forward to getting a lap band at some point when I get everything worked out. I am set to go to St. Elizabeth's in Lincoln for the meeting on Thursday. If anyone has experience with them or with Coventry insurance I would appreciate any words of wisdom. I don't really know what I am doing yet. Just trying to get something started. Have a great day!
