LapBand Vs. Gastric Bypass
sisterc replied to kraziekeysha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just started the process, but please go to website and look at people over 100 pounds or 200 pounds to lose and see their results. It works - my BMI is 49 and I have 140 pounds to lose, but for my life style and family I decided to do the lapband. Best! -

Pre Op Diet Experiences
sisterc replied to Gordon C's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Gordon, I am scheduled for 3/17 to be banded and started on Monday my diet two weeks before the surgery. I am doing atkins shake for Breakfast, 11:00 am Protein bar, 1:00 pm another shake, 3:00 pm snack vegs with one tablespoon of salsa with fat free cream cheese (they give you a list of things you can eat as a snack) 6:00 pm dinner I have lean cuisune or under 300 cal dinner on the list (I don't want to cook so I pick up the frozen ones) but it would be 4 oz of meat with lots of vegs and 1-2 oz of starch. For dinner snack is sugar free Jello and 64 oz of Water a day. This is under 1000 cals a day I can't exceed that and I have to exercise 30 minutes a day. I live in Boston and go to Beth Israel Hospital is not bad just I miss the real food instead of the shakes. -
Congrats on beginning the process! I also started in December 2007 and just completed the process a week ago. I am scheduled to be band in two weeks. The insurance process was not bad because the team of staff work with you to make sure everything is documented properly and submitted the forms. It does take two to three months to do everything, but what a blessing when its all over. I wish you the best in your new journey you are about to begin.

I Can't Believe I Am 23 Days Away!!!!
sisterc replied to angelsvoice's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am presently on pre-op liquids for 1000 cals a day and I get a regular meal in the evening but can not exceed 1000 a day. Breakfast shake (Dr. Atkins products), protein bar at 12:00 pm, 3:00 pm another skake, for my snack I have carrots and 2 tablespoon of salsa with fat free cream cheese, then for dinner lean cuisine 300 cals or less dinner with little pasta. And, of course a vitiam a day. The shakes are okay but not crazy about them, but it will take the hunger away. I will be banned on 3/17/08 and looking forward to the change. You have a wonderful road ahead - go for it! -
Surely BCBS will accept their own document!
sisterc replied to smylie1's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBS also HMO in Massachusetts and they didn't ask for this form. I needed a referral from my primary and then document was submitted for approval. I just happen to be with the same doctor for over seven years and they had a record of my weight gain and lose over the years maybe that is what they used. But speak with BCBS and they asked me several questions and he said if you can answer yes to one of them then you will qualify. His questions were is my BMI over 40 - yes are you over 100 pounds over weight - yes does your doctor recommend this - yes, over the past few years have you tried any other method and list the methods - yes I named them all. Can you see if you can talk with your primary and get referal or he or she can write the letter for you to BSBS? I hope all goes well for you! -

Hello I am new to the website and will be banded next month. I started the process a few months ago and I am looking forward to my new life change. I wanted to know if you felt that other christians didn't understand why you chose this method to lose weight and not trust God to lose it without the assistance.

Hello and Congrats on completing the process this far! I started the process in December 2007 and will meet with the physician on Thursday, 2/28. I will be getting a date for surgery on this Thursday. I am in Boston so the process took two months to complete and I love the staff at BI Hospital. I was told I should be banned early next month. Overall, I have enjoyed the process and look forward to see all the weight (150 pounds) drop from me!

Hello I started the process in December of 2007, and will meeting with the Surgeon for the first time on 2/28/08. I have completed the process in six weeks. I just loved the overnight sleep test!!!!!!!????!!! I will find out on 2/28/08 my surgery date, but each hospital works differently I work 10 minutes from the hospital so I was able to get all my appointment quickly and at lunch time. Others are not as fortunate because of the hospital location. Good luck and this is a good year to lose all the weight - like you I am so excited also 140 pounds to go. We can do it!
-
Congrats! Do well and don't look back. What a wonderful year ahead of you. I am waiting for my date for surgery and away the weight will go.
