Another question about the liquid diet
sisterc replied to LeslieR041906's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's very common and does happen and the sounds are sometimes loud. I experienced that for weeks always before I would eat it would tell me to eat something, but the sounds of gas pains were very loud. I was told to drink water and protein drinks hopefully this will help. -
Hello Mecia, Congrats on a job well done! I would be excited also - keep up the good work. It's wonderful to look back and say wow this is really me now. I love it!

Stay Tuned - That was incredible for six months! If you did it before you will do it again! I was so encouraged by your story and know that we can do it just one day at a time we can. This is just a learning curve for us to learn about eating again what works and what does not. I ate that recipe each day for the entire time till I seen the doctor. I ate a lot of soups, creme soups, and more soups, watered down cereal which won't too bad. Double check the list and go shopping and try mixing a few. I didn't try the powered eggs - Carrie

Wow! you did Optifast for six months - how was that?????? My recipe was for post-op here was one Take ricotta cheese and no sugar spagetti sauce and layer it like you would a lasagua or cook in oven for 5 minutes or microwave for 1 1/2 minutes and you will think you are eating lasagua.

Hello Kristi, My name is Carrie - and I am excited about having a buddy also. I know how important it is to have a support person with you as you go on this journey. I have seen the weight gain program myself, but overweight my entire life from 8th grade 220 pounds, 12th grade 300 pounds then lose 75 pounds before meeting my husband, the maintained for five years then each year it increased by 20 for the next five years. 2 1/2 months ago I reached my breaking point of 300 pounds and said this is enough for 1 1/2 year I could not fit my clothes in the closet so I didn't buy new ones because I didn't want to face that I could not fit my clothes (size 22) I went up to size 26/28 and said what am I doing with myself this is crazy. But kept on eating and eating! Just depressed at what I have become and look like its really said, but today is another day now. I am excited about me! Please don't forget to email me at c_monestime@yahoo.com

My pre-op doctor appt. is scheduled...
sisterc replied to kacarter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello My surgery was on Monday and I returned back to work on Friday. Five weeks after surgery I was able to take a bath with doctor's approval. Based upon where the port is you can get on a roller coaster after your first appointment with the doctor for some its four weeks and others it was five weeks. I was still tender for two months where the port was and then the tenderness went away after two months. I can now ride a roller coaster if I wanted to today its been over two months now. I wish you the best! -

For low Carb I was told to use Lean Cuisine or Weight Watcher frozen meals - no pasta, no pizza, no breads so I stayed with that and 1000 cals a day or less for food. I also ate protein bars and protein drinks under 200 cals a serving. -

Keep up the good work! After I went to stage 5 I just felt like the skys were my limits and started overeating now I am back on track. I truly understand what you are saying. I now have a buddy for accountability so I can make better decision for myself. I will start walking soon after my son's karate classes start in a few weeks. -
preop-surgery-postop advice
sisterc replied to LateBloomer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a tough time with pre-op dieting and gained three pounds when I got on the scale. I was not sad, but knew where I went wrong after the surgery I did much better and have to force myself to eat right and make sure I don't over eat which you can do. I just take it one day at a time no advice just do your best and be the best you can! -
Please don't be discouraged after I finished the liquids I was starving also until I had my first fill then after my first fill I still felt I could overeat. I went back to my list and look at the food list to see what else I could eat and make. I came up with a few recipes that helped me get through the tough days. Try to mix it up with a few varies and see what you can make it helps.

Company switching from BCBS of Mass to Tuft's
sisterc replied to bookaddict's topic in Insurance & Financing
I am not sure what hospital you are going through, but I am in MA and went to BI Hospital in Boston. I also had another insurance a year ago and now have BCBS and was covered. The center I went through would help you with all the paperwork and see how they can help the process they were great and very helpful with me. I wish you the best and hope someone can help speed up the process for you. -

Congrats! The first two weeks after the surgery is pain, but I was okay. The first four weeks of liquids after was very painful to bear, but you can make it through that also. You can do it!

That great - I had a left knee chipped while walking up stairs. I also eat one carb a day for breakfast so that I don't eat any during the day beside fruit and vegs. Somedays, my knee is better than others so I also try to take it easy on exercise. Keep up the good work!
