Hello Everyone, I am so excited after several weeks of not feeling any restrictions. I called my nutritionist (I TOOK THE MASK OFF) and told her I needed help. I wrote down what I was eating or eating me for a few days. She reviewed and got right back to me made a few changes in my diet and today I can say I finally feel restriction for the first time in four weeks. I changed my doctor's appointment for two weeks from today and feel like a new person. The truth shall set you free! Also just being honest with yourself and others how you are feeling about the progress or NO PROGRESS in eating. I am so excited on the new way of eating and restrictions I am feeling!

Congrats! The swelling in the midsection goes away in about 4-6 weeks. For some it takes longer for pain and healing. You are doing well - congrats on the new you. Oh yes - the eggs are worth the wait!
  3. Lisa, Thanks this was so encouraging to read about your weightloss success. It gives me hope in my future and where I want to be next year - keep up the good work. Everyone has a image about others, but what is beautiful you keep the new image of yourself and you can move mountains with the new you!

    restriction when?

Hello Chilly, I was banded on 3/17/08 and are having the same problem had my first fill three weeks ago and no restrictions. I called the nutritionist two days ago and given her a list of what I am eating and what she thought she told me to change a few things. 1) Don't drink after you eat for 30 minutes 2) replace my yogarts and puddings with cheese and Peanut Butter for Snacks. I tried it this morning for my morning snack and I finally can feel the restrictions after Breakfast for the first time in weeks. I use whole food peanut butter an four crackers after breakfast for snack in the morning. I hope this helps but I am going to my second fill in two weeks. BEST!

Manitoba - Date confirmed June 24th

It's been an interesting ride - I have lost 25 pounds so far and one fill so far. I called for another fill I don't have any restrictions with the band right now when I first had the surgery. I can overeat if I don't watch myself so I stick with what works for me proteins and vegs with yogarts, smoothies, sugar free pudding, jello, sugar free popcycles, cheese and no sugar products. I was getting nervous because I found myself for the past two weeks eating more and more. I call had to do something or I was going to go back to me old habits. But I feel fine just want to feel that fullness again after eating small portions. Carrie

Congrats from MA! Welcome to the new you!
  9. I was in pain for 6-7 weeks after surgery. My doctor told me this is to be expected around the port area. The pain lasted about two months after surgery. It does subside in time, but too much time passes and you don't see relief please make appointment to see the doctor you just never know.

    Sweaty?

Hello Cate, I started at 300 and now at 275 I still have sweating problem with leg rubbing problem. This will change as we lose more weight I think it will take time, but will change as the weight comes off.
  15. Hello I just started in March 2008 and so far I have lost 27 pounds. However, if I had to do it again I would take the bypass. After your surgery and liquids for a few weeks you have to eat you are introduced back to normal eating within two months. It take will power, determination, portion control, and right choices - IT IS NOT EASY! You have to work at it and do your part. However, there are others that the weight is just dropping of them. You have to do what's best for you and your life style. I have over 100 pounds to lose, but I have time. I wish you the best in your decision whatever you decided.

Is it possible to research another doctor in your area that is more experience that could exam you and give you more insite to your problem. Try to check around to see who else is in your area. Hope all works out for you.
  17. Please don't do it! It was the second week of liquids and I was starving also. My son didn't finish his noodles so I said they are soft they should go down with no problem. I have a pain that was out of this world for about 1 hour. It felt like my chest had something stuck in it and it was very painful. I had to lay down and take the pain meds for this it was not a pretty sight. It's just a little longer and you will be on mushy foods soon. You can do it!
  18. I am not sure what insurance you have, but turn your card over and call your insurance company. Explain the problem tell them you would like to go to another office to be examined and see what they say to you to do. It could be a possibility to go to another center. Please look into it we all know our bodies you never know. I would do the samething.

    Newbie (Surgery 5/27/08)

The liquids after surgery was the hardest thing I have ever done. I thought the surgery was better (even the pain) than not eating foods. I was told that after weight loss you don't have to use the machine anymore. Congrats and welcome to the new you!

    Water or Crystal Light?

I was told Laurie that as long as I drink 64 oz a day it does matter, but suggested to mix it up. You can also try Fruit 2 0, No sugar Juice with Spender, Propel (I love this) all are very good for fluids.

Who do you need to forgive?

Hello Terry, Why do you need to forgive? Through my own life experiences I had to forgive people because unforgiveness has caused headaches, migrines, weight gain, or loss of appetite, sleepless nights, loss of attention to detail (almost loss my job over it), constainly thinking about them and how I can get them back and they don't even care what they say or did to me. I made a decision to forgive them for what they have done and all the after affects it caused me whether I was right or wrong. Whether they said sorry or not - it is a choice and my made the right one. I prayed for me first then the person, and a few years later the person came back to me and asked for forgiveness. You can't change people, but you can truly change yourself. If it comes up in your mind just don't think about it it's in the pass and over. It took a total of seven years for me. I hope you get over it faster than me, but all things are possible. I wish you the best!
