Sorry, I didn't even get notifications for your responses. Anyways, it was that I was drinking a little too fast and it was causing gas on my chest. I've slowed down and I'm taking my time, and it's much better. Thanks for responding. And ld33, they're not super delicious, but they pack a decent amount of Protein and they're tolerable. I use them to make pudding as well. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So in an hour and a half, I'll be about 5 days post-op. I'm still having gas and some bloating. I was put on full liquids my first day home, and I'm proud to say I managed 89g Protein through a premier shake (split into 3 servings) and sf pudding with two scoops pure whey isolate split into 5 servings and made with Fairlife extra protein, lactose-free milk for 16 grams each. I had a shake then a pudding, then a shake, then a pudding... It took like 12 hours, but I got it all in. I did even better today by switching some of my Water with the milk. As a treat, I had some strained cream of potato Soup, which is heaven after weeks of artificially sweetened crap being the only source of protein in my life. I stick meals in little 4 oz condiment cups with lids and they're right there for me to grab. I've been walking a lot. I'm on a blood thinner, an acid reducer, and dilaudid when necessary as well as supplements. I wait the recommended times before and after eating to drink, and otherwise I sip all day. I'm afraid of becoming dehydrated. My only issues are these: 1. I have yet to experience a full feeling and I'm not willing to push it beyond 4 oz for fear of hurting myself. 2. I get pains in my solar plexus area which roil around like gas and I burp, but I don't know if it's just there from surgery still, or if I'm creating it. It's quite bothersome and it's almost constant unless I've eaten something heavier like the pudding. Is it possible I'm hungry? I don't feel like I could be hungry, but I'm eating on a schedule because I don't have a particular drive to eat other than that I don't want to cannibalize my muscle or lose my hair lol. I'm taking diligent care to get enough protein. Maybe I'm eating wrong and creating this gas? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yeah, I'm one of those people who doesn't care for a grammar nazi. I suppose my response was a bit judgmental as well. I think you're right to say having been in the forum for a day and responding in that manner is a bit naive. In a thread full of people who agree with you, whose mind was I going to change?... And being very recently post-op at this point, I don't really give a shit about grammar or what anyone says about it. It's not a big enough deal for me to correct- and it's not a big enough deal for me to bitch at someone who picks at it. In any case, what you linked me to actually makes sense to me. I can't act like I don't think that way. The only difference is I don't write it out. *handshake* carry on, bro. Whatever floats your boat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm scheduled for my gastric sleeve procedure at 3:15pm, but I'm to be there by 1:15. Can anyone give me a general idea of what to expect from when I get there? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Congratulations on your approval! It can be a scary process, for sure. I wish your husband the best. I'm sure he's in good hands, as I'm sure you will be as well. I thank you for the well wishes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am excited because this has been such a long process lol. I'm ready to be on the other side of surgery. I think not drinking will be hard. I've had only Clear liquids for over 24 hours and nothing allowed beyond midnight last night. I'm nervous, too. It's a big deal having that much of any organ removed, but I think I'll be okay. pre-op, but post-op diet question?
dunnadunna replied to mostly10's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What everyone else said... I don't drink artificially or naturally sweetened anything... All my hang ups with food and I don't drink anything but Water, unsweetened ice tea, and black coffee... My nut says I'm weird for that lol. I keep getting warned that I need to find something other than water to drink because I might not tolerate it plain after surgery. That makes me a little nervous. I was supposed to do a two week liquid pre-op, but scheduling conflicts made it 11 days. I'm allowed 6 Protein shakes a day (Atkins). Premier shakes are not allowed beforehand, for some reason... I'm also allowed unlimited clear liquids. I don't do Jello, so it's mainly been broth with the occasional sf ice pop. I season my broth with everything from vinegar to Rosemary and garlic powder... Curry powder... Depends on my mood. It's a good break from sweet tastes. I cheated three times. Once I ate an avocado in my curry broth. Twice I ate an egg in my beef broth this was all on the first six days. I went in to sign consent forms for surgery, they weighed me, and I had lost ten pounds in those 6 days. I didn't tell doc specifics, but I did mention that I had cheated. He said to try and stick with the diet (there are no commitment doubts- I quit smoking six months ago after first meeting him, and I lost 12 subsequent pounds and have kept them off for over 4 months now) but that my choices with which to cheat couldn't have been much better. Surgery soon and reflecting on my journey so far
dunnadunna posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi everyone, my name is Kayla. I'm a 30 year old musician, singer, wife, and mother. My Gastric sleeve procedure is scheduled for 4/27. I wasn't always as big as I am. (HW:314) in fact, when I met my husband nearly 12 years ago, I weighed 129lbs. At 5'8" that's kind of the low end weight-wise, but I wasn't healthy. Once I felt safe and loved, I let go and started eating again... Like mad. I ate on 150lbs in two years... I went up and down from there. So for the last decade, I've been hovering, on average, between 280 and 300. I did get down to 220 after becoming a vegetarian for a year and a half after a bad case of food poisoning (as with many of us, I have some issues that manifest in my strange relationship with food). When I got pregnant, my body demanded meat. By delivery, I was 305lbs. I dropped about 20lbs and put it back on. My body began to feel major consequences of all the weight. I stopped playing quidditch and indoor soccer which I had done up to last year. Finally, as my son began running faster and faster, I decided I wanted to keep up with him and to do the stuff he wanted to do... I went into cooper bariatric on October 22nd, 2015. They told me I had to be nicotine free for 4 months, I quit on the 23rd. Since then, I have completed all the hoop-jumping and here I am, drinking only Protein shakes and Clear liquids. As a performer, it's hard to look at myself and then present what I feel is inadequate, to others. I have been learning, albeit slowly, to love myself. I wrote a song to fluff myself up. If you want to hear it or see the video, I'm happy to post a link, but I don't want to assume. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

This. How many of us have dealt with hurtful judgement? I'd bet nearly all of us at some point. If you can't process a post because of the way it's formatted, skip it. The moment you decide pointing out what you perceive to be an error is more important than someone's feelings, you are being judgmental, regardless of how many times you say some variation of, "I'm not judgmental, but..." Or, "I don't usually judge..." Or, "I'm not judging..." Yeah, you are. Wow. You can write and spell perfectly. Good for you. *Back to the important things, like supporting others.* Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So I know there have been a million and one posts about the preop diet most of us have to adhere to. Mine was supposed to be 14 days, but scheduling between school and appointments, they weren't able to get me on it right away. I'm on day 5 of an 11 day liquid diet. It's 6 Protein shakes a day and unlimited Clear liquids. My shakes are Atkins shakes. Now, I've stuck to it pretty well so far. I cheated twice, both times, it was an egg I put in my broth, and I actually don't feel bad about it at all lol. I'm just not doing it anymore. My concern is that I feel bloated... I've got my energy back for the most part, the first 3 days were iffy... My stomach isn't upset like it was, but I'm still waking up puffy and bloated. I'm worried all the Protein Shakes aren't agreeing with me and that will harm the progress with my liver. Anyone have any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
