Stage 4 any techniques to meet fluid goal?
yami17leth posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can anyone advise for me and others how does one manage to intake 64oz of Fluid on stage 4? i'm worried because I was advanced to stage 4 soft hight Protein foods 3 days ago and it has become SOoo hard to get my fluids in Today I had an egg omelet with cheese in between Ingredients: 1 egg 2 tbsp skim mozzarella cheese 1/2 tbsp light mayo No salt added This meal has 14g protein I had a Protein shake for lunch Isopure unflavored 1 scoop-25g protein 2/3 of a banana 6oz organic fat free milk lactose free-6g protein Later in the night for dinner I had 1/2 cup fat free refried beans-6.5g protein 2 tbsp skim mozzarella cheese on top-8g protein 1/4 cottage cheese- 6g protein This meal I had to split in 2 of course So for protein i'm doing fine, but food has taken up so much space in my pouch I don't know where to fit the fluids. I feel so full after my meals it lasts for hours. Update for those who are pre op or just had surgery towards the end of stage 3 and beginning of stage 4 I had constipation which I was told by the surgeon it's totally normal Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Few pounds up after weight loss post up
yami17leth posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I weighted myself a few days ago I had lost 17 pounds. Today Currently in the hospital waiting to be called for my post up apt. I have been weighed and have gained 3 pounds back. I do admit I getting my Protein is starting to be a pain for me as i've felt a bit nauseas and it disgusts me. I have my post up apt with surgeon and dietician right now. I will update on what they tell me regarding this, but has this happened to anyone? When will I stop regretting this surgery?
yami17leth replied to LadyJustice007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having people that have had surgery already around you will help. I was well prepared before surgery. I started researching 4 years ago and I did start going to the appointments for it 4 years ago, but I had postpartum depression and was told I had to take counseling for 1 year. So I stepped back and didn't start again until 1 year ago and here I am 18 days post up gastric bypass. Yes I still researched all those years and learned as much as I could. I met 3 people who had the same surgery and a few others who will be having it, but let me say that we did not know what it's really like until now that we have our own journey. It is different for everyone. Try meeting people with the surgery, attend support groups, and have counseling. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Unjury vs Genepro (unflavored)
yami17leth replied to Freckles70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not tried either of the two, but will tell you what I have had. Pre op I had 100% whey Isolate cherry Post up I am used that one, Isopure Isolate banana cream, another on the go Protein shake pack I bought at CVS and recently bought IsoPure unflavored to mix to foods and drinks This one I find great putting in the blender with banana and fat free lactose free milk This shake = 32 g protein Great amount! Many people, me for example love IsoPure due to it being high in protein low in carbs. I will also be buying premier as I've heard it is really high in protein as well Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Good luck in your journey! Hi everyone! I just want update on my last post (me eating the 2 spoonfuls of Soup with mushed Pasta in it). So I've been constipated for 2 days now. Yesterday morning I drank the powdered medication to help me with that; however, I have not been able to go and last night I had a really horrible weird pain on my left side. The pain seemed to be mu pouch. Deep stabbing pain from front to back and then i felt a sudden deep pain down my intestines. I other words I felt food stuck. Yeee I didn't sleep all night the pain started around 1AM and git better at 5AM. I was so scared because I tried walking, sipping Water ect.. Nothing was helping. I was about to page my surgeon, but then read online that warm tea or water could help. I made myself a decaf green tea and sipped. Thanks Lord that helped at last. I was as able to go to sleep at 5 AM. Now I am pretty sure I will stick to the plan 100% it's sad I learned my lesson the hard way. Can anyone tell me what other things beside Protein shakes, broth, tea, sugar free popsicles, Jello, G2 am I able to have at stage 3 Please Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Today i'm 2 weeks post up. At the beginning i was using whey isolate cherry flavor and Isopure banana cream 0 carbs; however i got bored of the flavors so went shopping for the already made on the go shakes. I have tried Atkins shakes bought at CVS 15g Protein. My pouch seems to be bored (nausea) of them as well. I've seen premier brand at CVS too, but never though I vould have those post up. Wow! they have a good amount of protein so I'll be buying some of those. Yesterday I ordered flavorless protein powder online to mix with foods so hopefully I can mix with the yogurt and other foods. I have also tried Carnation brand protein powder which they give you while in the hospital, but they are way to sweet 7g sugar to me or maybe it was just a temporary taste I rejected at first. At my post up apt today my dietician approved me for stage 4 now makes me so happy. I am now allowed to have foods! Healthy high protein sugar free and low fat foods. Later today for dinner i'll be having fish and see how that goes. Of Course i will still have to take Protein Shakes to meet my daily protein intake. Hope premier has chocolate I love chocolate flavor. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Packing for Surgery...
yami17leth replied to ashmarie1425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't take extra cloths except for undies. You can go home with the same cloths you go to the hospital with. - chapstick- your mouth will feel very dried and your lips will too as you can't have anything in your stomach after midnight except the gatorade they give you. I would take 1 or 2 period pads just incase (I got my period the 2nd night while at the hospital and was told by the nurse that almost every girl who gets this type of surgery gets a period even if they recently saw their menses) - someone to stay with you if possible ( my hubby went with me and even tho he was not as supportive and he was not allowed be with me in the room from 9pm-9am due to the reason I was in a shared room it still felt good to have someone in the hospital just in case ( over night he would stay in the waiting room on the floor I was in) Last... I was in the hospital 2 nights 3 days Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
What signs should I look for to know I'm full?
yami17leth replied to numeby2017's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 weeks post up tomorrow I have noticed that after a about 20 minutes while i'm eating I burp. I have researched and this means "full". Before I knew this I would have 1 or 2 more sips; however I would get nausea after and the feeling of " I can't have one more bite" to the point where once I had a bit extra egg drop Soup and had to spit it right out because I just couldn't Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Post-op Insomnia anyone?
yami17leth replied to YumiMumi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 weeks out and I was also having nightmares. The fist night (recently) I tried sleeping without pain meds nor tylenol I still had nightmares. I would wake up in panic, but I am having a little stress with hubby so it prob is the surgery and the stress. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hi, GBP post up day 8 I've been having hiccups all day today. I notice i am frequently getting them after sipping on liquids. Could i be sipping to quickly or to much liquid at once? Why am i getting the hiccups? Could it be that i'm swallowing air or something?! I didn't have em before until today. Nothing has changed I am sipping my liquids the same way I've been sipping them the last few days. Has this happened to anyone? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm going to be honest with you at the beginning when they wake you up you will be in really bad pain. I remember they would ask me things and all I could say was "IM IN PAIN IM IN PAIN AAAAH IT HURTS" They give you pain med through IV until your able to tolerate Water, broth ect. Be strong pain does get better just follow the nurses's and doctor's instructions. Specially walking it helps move gas quicker. So does sitting. When you feel gas pain sit down or walk if you can instead of laying down. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What you just said is true I've been so busy in my Protein liquid intake and my emotions that have gone crazy(mood swings) that I totally forgot I can't change hubby Either he supports me or not, but I decided to have this do I will have to stick to the plan. I know things will get better as time goes by. I hope so Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You were not given narcotics? I was given both narcotic and tylenol. While in the hospital I did have A lOt of pain so I was given narcotic pain med every 4 hours. The problem was 3 hours later I was in pain again. So my doc said I could have the med every 3 hours, but my nurse advised me to not do this because narcotics make everything in your guy slow down gas for example. She said it becomes much harder to pass gas while on narcotics and also the healing would slow down. I was also advised by her to walk walk walk. Walking improves healing and moves gasses so its easier to let them out. I came home on day three and used narcotics every 4 hours for 2 days and tylenol every 6 hours. I even wrote down the times. I started limiting the narcotic intake and only took the crushed pill to take naps or sleep at night ( I move alot when sleeping ouch!) still i kept taking tylenol every 6 hours. About 4 days ago I stopped taking tylenol also. I only take tylenol now when i'm going for a walk or when I need it. And for sleep I still use the narcotic because my incisions hurt when moving. I'll see if I can change to tylenol for sleep soon. I've walked a lot since day 1 which has helped with pain and the healing process. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I think its has alot to do with my husband not being supportive. People please give me advice please if you read this leave a comment. I will be strong not to have anything besides what i'm suppose to now because I already experienced an episode of dumping syndrome. Has anyone out there gone through this situation where the spouse is not supportive at all? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Oh and for Protein powder I use Isopure they have different flavors and its delicious. Isopure is also high protein so its easier to get your protein grams needed. 2 scoops = 50g protein 1 scoop = 25 g protein Really good Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I also had surgery April 13 I was lactose intolerant pre op but only from direct cow milk (weird) and surgery just made it worse. I am able to drink my shakes I make them with soy milk While still at the hospital when I was put on stage 3 I remember the night before getting discharged, for dinner I was given Protein Powder and regular fat free milk. I did ask for soy milk but they had none. Oh Boy! That night my stomach felt AWFUL and I felt the urge to go to the bathroom; however it was impossible I was unable to go because nothing would happen as much as I tried. It was really bad. And after being sent home I took one dose of the constipation powder med ( it tastes eew) the doctor prescribed. About an hour later I had diarrhea ongoing for about 4 days. And I haven't had fat free regular milk again after being discharged. So I think your new pouch changes many things in your body and you insides are more sensitive. Just like a baby's stomach some milks just make them sick. Be strong Hope things get better Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Why the Hiccups ?!
yami17leth replied to yami17leth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Update: I also got hiccups once today while drinking my Protein shake so I stopped and finished it later. Could it also be my pouch is trying to tell me something or like a signal fir full... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Good Luck in your weigh loss! You will feel pain when not taking the pain meds or when the meds start to wear off which is usually after 3 hours, but be strong its only the first few days. I remember that when I was in pain from not being able to pass gas while in the hospital I had thoughts of regret of getting the surgery, but would remind myself it would soon pass and I would feel better. Well here I am on day 8 and 13lbs down already with little to no pain at all. Keep it up! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
