Is 60 lbs at 6 months okay?
Kimbalina replied to laurajeanrogers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I had my sleeve surgery on 4/13, so I'm almost 4 mo out. I am wondering same thing. Is there a STANDARD # of lb per month that is average? Am I "behind" and should I cut out all carbs? I began eating some carbs just to see if I could. Seems I can eat some as lon gas I don't eat lots of carbs. So am eating just about everything now except apples, oranges, popcorn, skins on veggies/fruits. I am also doing minimal exercise. Shoudl I be losing more? Should I absolutely be vigorous exercise daily to push more off? Need advice from others ahead of us out there! Kimbalina -

Hi Bunnyh, Not sure you are still on. It says "offline" near your profile. If you are on, hoping we can write back adn forth. I was "sleeved" April 13th, close to date you were. I am now eating regular food. So wanted to ask someone in same stage as me how it is going for them. can you eat all foods now. Are you losing a lot or a few lb a month. I have lost 34 so far and wonder if that is average or less than some other people.

Swallowing Pills - any suggestions
Kimbalina replied to Kimbalina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the sleeve procedure done, not Roux en Y.Our nutritionist set out these guidelines. Sip Water 1/2 hr before eating a meal. Then after meals wait one hr before drinking. Perhaps each dr or team has its own rules which they found to be helpful. -
Hi all, I had my sleeve surgery on 4/13/16. So I'm almost 2 mo. out. Glad to finally make it to eating almost all foods. Here are some things that have caused slight problems. anyone else experience this. Hard to get these to move through stomach: --swallowing pills (even after cutting in half) --Fiber foods like cereals (raisin bran, Kashi) --whole grain oatmeal --crackers Any suggestions? Are there some foods that no matter how far out from surgery you decide just to avoid?? Also my weight loss has slowed. What helps most: exercise drinking lots of Water eating less, and only eating Protein and frozen veg eating NO sweets or Desserts I try to eat yogurt with fruit when i want something sweet. Also I have resumed drinking coffee in a.m. but not sure how to do it since you can't eat and drink at same time. So is it best to have a cup of coffee and wait 1 hr before Breakfast. Or to eat something first thing like an egg cooked, then wait an hr before having coffee? thanks in advance,

Change in taste buds
Kimbalina replied to kmvalade's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 4 weeks out from surgery (April 13th) and am on pureed foods. I was very surprised to find my tastes changing. I'm wondering what makes this happen? Is it loss of some hormones in the stomach? Anyhow my toothpaste which must have some sort of fake sugar in causes nausea and almost makes me throw up. That was a shock. Never bothered me before. Also I seem to crave certain foods, adn then when I have them mashed up and pureed, they don't give the same pleasure they did before. Not sure if this is because there is no texture to them in my mouth? I was craving a cheesesteak so we got some; I threw away the bun, and pureed a little of the contents since the meat is really lean . It tasted fantastic to have 1/2 cup of this old favorite. Also craved stouffers mac n cheese so pureed some fo this and it was great. But yes as some have mentioned, a little contained lasts you several meals. My frig has tons of little rubbermaid containers in there of partial meals. So preop people, make sure you have lots of tupperware or Rubbermaid 1 cup containers - your refrigerator is going to collect portions of smoothies and meals you can't finish in one sitting! -
Hi Moppet, I begin soft foods this week too. My surgery date was 4/13. Been successful eating an egg so far. Here is how I do it. Spray Pam inside a small coffee mug, break one egg into mug, stir or scramble well. Add salt/pepper/seasoning. Put in microwave for 30 seconds with cover over mug. It comes out in between scrambled and soft boiled and is just the right consistency. I break into tiny pieces and eat with a spoon. First time I could only eat 1/2. Now I can eat a whole egg usually as one meal. Hope it works for you. Kimbalina

Kimbalina replied to thisisforme2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in Philadelphia suburbs. Honey Brook, PA near Lancaster. Anyone else a "sleever" out in this area? I have questions about first month. My surgery was 4/13.
