  1. Hi All, I was banded last May and have been on a plateau since around November. After some bad fills and attempts at fills, I had a fill under flouroscopy and the Dr. realized my port had flipped and I am waiting to get a date for my port replacement surgery. I have read some accounts that say it happens all the time and some that say it is very rare. Does anyone have any advice? What was the recovery time like? I have had more discomfort than usual in the last couple of weeks since the dr. was poking me under the floroscope and am really anxious to get this taken care of. Thanks for your help! Libby
  2. You know, they said they were going to and a few weeks after the surgery I was feeling no restriction and very hungry. When I went in for my first fill I found out I was completely empty. But the first fill seems to be working.... so far so good.
  3. Well I had my port replacement one month ago today and my first fill last Thursday. For the first time I feel like the band is working! I have restriction and I have had my first PB (which was not so much fun, but now I understand what everyone has been talking about-and how this tool can be used.) I have to remember all the good habits that I had after my initial surgery a year ago. Hope you all are well!

  5. Hi All- I had a fill or two that went fine and then the Dr. started having trouble. After two unsuccessful sessions where he gave up because he had poked me too many times and didn't want me to get an infection, he had me go under flouroscopy and realized the port had flipped. It took me about two months to get my revision scheduled, but they did it last Thursday. It was much easier than the original banding, but I am still quite tired. The port was completely removed and put on the other side. New scars, but I am excited to get the loss going again. J
  6. hi all-- I have been lurking around the internet, but this is my first foray into the boards. I was just approved for surgery last week and have my first consult with dr. quilici in Burbank, CA on February 27th. I am hoping to have the lapband. My emotions have run the gamut--I really want to have the surgery, but the process is scary and overwhelming. Thanks for reading.
  7. Darn it, I was so looking forward to this, but I was stuck in Jury Duty all day and now I have a ton of work to catch up on before the holiday. I hope your meeting is a great success and that you have another meeting soon!!!! Jenn
  8. Hi Ellen (and all)-- I know we've spoken over email before. I was banded in May with Dr. Q. Would love to do a SFV bandster group. I have attended the support group, but find a lot of the concerns are different since most of the patients are bypass. I live in Toluca Lake. I am down 42 lbs, but hitting a plateau the last month. Hope you are well. Best, Jenn
  9. I have flown quite a few times. The only problem I had was a few days after I flew in Denver. I was hiking and got an extended case of the hiccups. Nothing major, just a little annoying (ok, very annoying). My doctor said it was probably the band--but it hasn't happened since, so it could all be coincedence.

    Post-Op Visit... blah!

Same thing happened to me. I went up 3 lbs, the dr said probably from the IV fluid in the hospital. I've lost it and am eating mushies now. It'll come off. Stay strong--you'll get through it!
  12. Hey All, I was banded May 6. I lost 14lbs on the pre-op liquid diet. I get the staples out tomorrow and then can start on mushies. I am not sure how much I have lost since the surgery--its staples out then off to get a scale I think! Any one have a good recommendation? I am going to ask at the dr. office as well, but figured you all might have some ideas! J
