    Meat ?

My Stage 3 (a few days post op) allowed me to start on chickeb and fish (pureed or mushed). I did fine. I can start red meat for a while, though. Just chew thoroughly and go slowly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Does anyone else's surgeon have them using an incentive spirometer for 10 days post-op to prevent pneumonia? It's easy and not a big deal...but I'm supposed to do it 10x an hour. Just wanted to check. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. My discharge instructions are to walk 20 minutes per day (can be broken into smaller chunks), and after 6 week check up I'm able to go full steam ahead with other exercise. Just curious to see what other people's exercise looked like between discharge and the 6 week post op check up? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Portion size?

I'm 11 days post-op. Right now I can do 1.6 to 1.7 oz of cooked Protein (rotisserie chicken breast, for example). But I can do 4oz of yogurt. On Monday (2 weeks post-op) I can add in regular textured foods, protein first, then non-starchy vegetables. I think it will be a struggle to eat more, though. Yikes...6 weeks

Got sleeved 4/11, going back 4/25 to a desk job. Was told no long-haul travel for about 6 weeks (primarily for lifting my own luggage). I will go on my first business trip May 5th, but it's only 1 night. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I know you didn't want to discuss it with your surgeon, but please do disclose the drug use to your anesthesiologist-this is something they would NEED to know for your safety. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I had the same issues (angst over the permanence of the surgery plus the lifetime changes) then a few days ago I finally realized something: My pre-op life was big giant mess of disordered eating. Will I ever eat "normally" post-op? Not technically, but I never ate "normally" prior. This way of eating has me feeling in control and will improve my health, though. Dealing with toddler post opp

The first 5-7 days post op are the hardest. I had my surgery in Miami and flew home to Boston 5 days later. 2 days after being home I was sore and tired, but ok to go to Target and other errands. I'm 11 days post op and got up, showered and dressed in jeans (for the first time since surgery), went to get a pedicure, went to the chiropractor, took my daughter to get a haircut, and I'm going to go shopping this afternoon. It truly gets better each day. A week ago I was a crying mess wondering how I'd muster the strength to fly home. That said, you may want to hire a babysitter for a few hours each day to help you out-at least for the first week. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I'm a little worried that I'm 9 days post op and can already eat 4oz of Chobani. That seems like a lot. I was definitely full and satisfied when finished and couldn't have eaten more. Maybe I was able to eat that much because yogurt is like a slider food? No way I could eat 4oz of chicken, tuna, etc. It makes me worried that my sleeve is too big. Any experience with this? Any soft food ideas?

I minced, then mushed chicken breast. Also, my husband made me a scrambled egg (couldn't finish it though), today I will try mushed up tuna. My friend got a chili from Wendy's and pureed it and said it was amazing (I don't like chili, so that doesn't appeal to me). Most important thing to remember about soft food stage is to focus on Protein, so in other words, ricotta cheese? Yes. Mashed potatoes? No. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    1 week stall?

Same thing--10 days out, down 14lbs, but the scale hasn't moved. Told myself last night that going forward I'm only weighing myself on Sunday morning. I do let it define my mood for the day, so doing it daily isn't great for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. This shows 8oz of Greek yogurt in the "mushy" food stage (this is not from my surgeon's practice) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. Totally hear you--I'm 8 days post-op. About 5 days ago I woke up with some "buyer's remorse" and eventually just realized that either way, I'm not going to have "normal" eating habits. They can slowly kill me, or they can help me feel better and healthier. 8 days out, I'm glad I can say I chose the surgery. Btw--this is one of the best posts I've read on here. 15. I have 5. Anytime you have a laparoscopic or arthroscopic procedure you need portals for the scope & camera, light source, fluid management, and resection of the tissue. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Operating time for me was about 45 minutes. I was stable under anesthesia, have had no prior abdominal surgeries so no scar tissue to maneuver through, and carry most of my weight in my butt, hips and thighs--so of my 245 lbs starting, my abdomen was not the fattiest part of me. That said, they didn't come to get my husband for about three hours or so. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
