I'm 6 days post op and I feel drained and sick to my stomach--and by drained I mean that tired, weak feeling you get when you're hungry and haven't eaten for a while. This just started yesterday; I'm meeting my Fluid and Protein intake requirements. What can I do to stop feeling so sluggish? The liquid phase will be the death of me!!! Part of me wants to skip this phase and move on to the mushy foods phase...ughhh!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

CDabbraccio--congrats on your surgery; better days are definitely ahead! We are on our way to a happier, healthier life. "And this too shall pass..." Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you everyone for the reassuring responses! I thought it was something I was doing (or not doing), but it sounds like everyone goes through this. I also keep forgetting this is considered a major operation (silly, I know). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well, I'm not exactly pain free anymore. The IV slipped out of my vein so I wasn't getting the pain meds or potassium chloride correctly--my entire hand and wrist were completely swollen. No Bueno! Anyways! Does anyone find that things taste differently after surgery?? Is this normal?? Water and broth have a terrible after taste as opposed to before surgery... Hi everyone! Surgery was fine, and I feel great. I hardly have any gas pain, or any pain for that matter. I'd say the hardest part for me so far is the grogginess! I can't seem to snap out of it! Maybe a few laps will wake me up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I start my pre-op diet tomorrow and I'm worried about my hypoglycemia. My surgeon wants me on a clear fluids only diet (sugar free pops and Jello too). Can anyone provide tips on how to keep my sugar levels regulated throughout this process?? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I think it depends on the surgeon; mine said I could have plain black coffee... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any surgery pals this week?
SeaEli replied to annamal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too--5'5" 231, surgery on 4/29. It still hasn't sunk in yet! Probably won't until I'm hooked up to my IV Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
My surgery is on 4/29; I start a clear liquid diet on the 27th, but until then I'm on a 1500 calorie diet. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Sleeve on monday with Dr Allen in Louisville
SeaEli replied to Becky03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm seeing Dr.Geller from Nortons. Dr.Allen spoke at the seminar I attended; I liked him--he seems very thorough. I'm actually attending the education class today (surgery is on the 29th). Good luck on Monday! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hey All! This is my first time posting! I've been working toward surgery since June 2015--it's been a long road but I finally got scheduled today for next week! I can honestly say I've never thought I would end up in this situation, and I'm sure some of you can relate (how did I allow myself to get to this point?), BUT this is a second chance so I plan on making the most of it. Anyway! I find myself worrying about the little things that I probably shouldn't even worry about; I have to give myself heparin shots after surgery and the idea of the wound drain is bugging me out too! The way my surgeon described the removal of the drain sounds terrible (smh)! And what about the nausea after surgery? Silly concerns I know, but can anyone share their experience with any of those things with me? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I wish you the best of luck! I'll be on here after surgery to see how it went for you! I'm nervous; I start my pre-op diet on the 27th. 3 days without food...I hope I don't end up hangry. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Good luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Good luck on your surgery! The pre-op diet is extremely hard, but my doctor said if I start feeling like i cannot tolerate it that lean cuts of meat were okay to have (in moderation of course!). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
