We are currently trying to get pregnant. I have just finished a round of clomid with a trigger shot and ovulated on Sunday. Has anyone ever felt restriction during the two weeks after ovulation. I get very nauseated after eating, like my band is too tight. I feel fine after the two weeks, it all goes back to normal. Thanks for your help with this.

You are will need a weight history of 2 years that shows you were at a constant BMI of 35 for that time period. You will also have to have a 3 or 6 month diet lead by a doctor and a nutritionist. Good Luck!

ndwife replied to SpecialK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Everyone- the style show will be featured on Fox News 28 this Friday morning at 8:15AM. There will be 4 models on the news that morning. Hope to see everyone on Saturday. -
Good luck on your journey. I was banded on May 28, 2008 and will never look back. Even though you are a self-payer plan on the process being at least 3 months. At the meeting you will get a packet of info, send it in and then you will receive another packet of info on what type of clearances that you need. You must have all of the clearances and paperwork into the office before any type of scheduling that can be done. You will also be required to visit with the dietician at the hospital and go to a group class too. Also, Dr. Price is a busy surgeon and takes a while to get on his books for surgery. Don't want to rain on your parade but there are just a few extra steps that you have to do before getting on the table. Check out the Mt. Carmel Board for more info.

Hey Everyone- I am going on my first cruise with my lap band. Does anyone have any tips for me? I am just about at restriction and I go in tomorrow for a fill/ check up. I am not the type of person who will get a bit of a unfill to go on a cruise. I am not going to eat my way through vacation. I have worked too hard to get where I am today. Thanks for the tips.

Special K- The link that you gave is for the information sessions for patients that want to have surgery. The support groups are still only the first Monday of the month from 6PM-7PM. The January one will be on January 5 (night of the OSU bowl game). -
Sue- Welcome to lap band talk! I live in Columbus and had my lap band surgery in May of theis year. I checked out Dr. Meyers and Mt. Carmel West. I went with Mt. Gained weight in hospital
ndwife replied to Jess1982c's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in at 257 and went out at 262. It took about a week and then I was down 14 lbs. Enjoy the liquid diet. -
Help- I have been stuck with my weight for a while now. I am walking about 3.5 miles a day and getting anywhere between 1200 and 1400 calories a day. Also, when I walk it is more of a reacewalk, and I have taken up doing Zumba and other fitness classes in the evening. I burn about 700 calories a day. What should I do? I am tired of hearing that I am gaining muscle. How much muscle am I going to gain? Thanks-
-
Thank you all for your different ideas. First, I wear a heart rate monitor that tracks my calories burned and to make sure I am in the range to burn off fat. That is how I know how many calories I burn per session. It was a great purchase at Target (Polar Heart Rate Monitor). Second, my plateau is gone. I have dropped about 6 pounds in the last two weeks. How? Started training for a half marathon that I will be doing in May. I do not just walk 5-6 days a week, I only walk 3 and do cross training on the other days. It can be Zumba Classes or Yoga. I also have gotten back to the basics and really am watching the amount of Protein I have been taking in. I do not think that I was getting enough. Also, I spoke with my nutritionist and she told me not to add any more calories to my day unless I feel that I need it. It is interesting how everyone is different. Thanks again for help.

I am training for a half marathon and I walk 4 miles 3 times a week and then do either strength training, zumba, yoga or elliptical on 2 other days.

Okotberfest- I started out this whole process at 270 and today I am at 217. I have pcos and needed to get rid of the weight in order to have a child. My surgeon was Dr. Choban and she said that we could start trying at the one year mark of my surgery. I did ask about both surgeries and went with the Lap Band. So, don't give up hope on having the band. Keep positive. -
I have been with Weight Watchers since before my surgery. Due to what everyone is saying, they do offer the Core Program which fits in perfectly with your band. Also, they do emphasize exercise. I felt comfortable enough with my leader to let him know what was going on and he was fine with it. I had gone to him before and I go to an At Work Program where we are a little closer group. He has been very supportive through the entire process and he keeps me going. I believe that going to the doctor every 6 weeks is just not enough for me. Also, he did mention that they are changing the program a bit for the upcoming year. They will be focusing more on the Core Program becuase they have come to realize that low carb is the way to go. Good luck with whatever you decide but research it before you decide to do it or not.

Lynn- Hang in there. I had the same problem this time. Between my first and second fill I lost 14 pounds. I am coming up on my third fill (Oct. 16th too) and I am hungry all the time. I have lost about 4 pounds and that is it. I really don't understand it, but I guess we will just have to wait for the sweet spot to hit. -
Cruising with your band
ndwife replied to SaraJaneQ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on May 28th and just returned from the Dominican Republic. It is not a cruise, but a little more dangerous. They tell you don't drink the Water or eat too many veggies and fruit. I had no problems at all. I was overly prepared. I spoke with my bariatric nurse and she gave me a lap band needle as a just in case. If I needed to have an unfill while in the Dominican I could. I also looked up a lap band doctor over in the Dominican. So many people go overseas for these procedures and I found a really good one. Did not have to use him. I lost 4 pounds on vacation. I kept with my walking 2 miles a day and really watched what I ate. Skipped the salad and Soups and had the entree with veggies and then a little desert. I did not deprive myself. I was able to enjoy my vacation more. Have fun on your trip. -
liquid pain medication question
ndwife replied to kgranite79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be ok to take an extra strength Tylenol. Get the caplets, becuase they dissolve faster. I have stayed away from advil, they scare you too much with the whole blood clot thing. Also, my pain meds were given in a pill form and I just broke them in half to take them. Good Luck! -

Special K- are you watching your protien and getting enough? I was always tired after surgery and I had to keep reminding myself to get enough protien in. Also, do you take your multivitamins everyday? I also take a vitamin D with the multivitamins that I take. I am defiecient in vitamin D and that slows you down. -

I will be at the office tomorrow at 9:15AM. I love those early appointments. Niki, I will probably miss you. -
I have heard good and bad things about their program, but I have also heard good and bad about Mt. Carmel. My mom started with OSU for her band and decided to switch due to the lack of follow up with insurance paperwork and the doctor tried to push having gastric bypass (she is a lightweight at 220). She was banded by Dr. Curry in Cincinnati. Good luck with OSU!!

Welcome!! What hospital are you going with? I was banded at Mt. Carmel West about 2 months ago. Dr. Choban was great!!! I was approved for surgery and went through everything in about 4 months. It has been a whirlwind, but I am so happy that I did it. Come over to the local boards and each hospital in Columbus has its own thread. Good Luck!!!

HI Everyone- Looks like everyone is having great progress on the weight loss efforts. I am doing great! I am happy to say that I am no longer shopping in the women's section. I am happily finding clothes that fit in the misses department. Macy's had a great sale this weekend!! I have a question for those that have flown- I am heading on vacation in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone felt restriction after your flight? I have heard that it happens. Also, I am going to the Dominican Republic and the flight is about 4 hours long and by the time we get to the resort it will be another 2 hours. I am worried about getting hungry and needing water constantly. I was going to call the airport to see if I can explain my situation and ask if I could pack a cooler of snacks and water. They do allow this for babies. What do you think? Thanks for your help everyone. I am just a little nervous about heading to another country and having complications. I know that it will all be fine, but it is better to be safe than sorry. -

Hey Everyone- I went to my post nutrition class two weeks ago and Andrea said that the bariatric program is getting it's own space in Mt. Carmel. She said that when we go for fills or nutritionist appointments, classes, supports groups, etc. that it will all be in one area. She is not sure when this will take place, but things are in the works right now. Give your ideas to help with the program because it is only getting bigger and better. She said the programs that make the money are the ones that are getting there own locations and bariatric is a huge money maker right now. Congrats Greg on the 50 and welcome to everyone else. I am two weeks from my first fill and I am ready for it. I can tell that it is time. I have lost 21 pounds since surgery and a total of 12 total body inches. Keep up the great work everyone!!!! -
I had absolutely no probelms with Aetna. I was approved within less than a week. I did do the diet supervisd by my doctor and I had all my ducks in a row. I think that it all depends on the company that your Aetna insurance is through, not Aetna themselves.
