  1. Happy 38th Birthday ndwife!

  2. We are currently trying to get pregnant. I have just finished a round of clomid with a trigger shot and ovulated on Sunday. Has anyone ever felt restriction during the two weeks after ovulation. I get very nauseated after eating, like my band is too tight. I feel fine after the two weeks, it all goes back to normal. Thanks for your help with this.

    Aetna POS II

You are will need a weight history of 2 years that shows you were at a constant BMI of 35 for that time period. You will also have to have a 3 or 6 month diet lead by a doctor and a nutritionist. Good Luck!
  4. Just an FYI- The Mt. Carmel Style Show will be featured on Fox News 28 this Friday. The time is supposed to be about 8:15AM.
  5. Hey Everyone- the style show will be featured on Fox News 28 this Friday morning at 8:15AM. There will be 4 models on the news that morning. Hope to see everyone on Saturday.

    Another Banded Buckeye!

Good luck on your journey. I was banded on May 28, 2008 and will never look back. Even though you are a self-payer plan on the process being at least 3 months. At the meeting you will get a packet of info, send it in and then you will receive another packet of info on what type of clearances that you need. You must have all of the clearances and paperwork into the office before any type of scheduling that can be done. You will also be required to visit with the dietician at the hospital and go to a group class too. Also, Dr. Price is a busy surgeon and takes a while to get on his books for surgery. Don't want to rain on your parade but there are just a few extra steps that you have to do before getting on the table. Check out the Mt. Carmel Board for more info.

    Any Cruisers??

Hey Everyone- I am going on my first cruise with my lap band. Does anyone have any tips for me? I am just about at restriction and I go in tomorrow for a fill/ check up. I am not the type of person who will get a bit of a unfill to go on a cruise. I am not going to eat my way through vacation. I have worked too hard to get where I am today. Thanks for the tips.
  8. I believe I was exercising within a week of having suregery. Nothing too crazy, maybe a mile walk to start off with. Now, I can't get enough exercise. I love it!!!!
  9. Special K- The link that you gave is for the information sessions for patients that want to have surgery. The support groups are still only the first Monday of the month from 6PM-7PM. The January one will be on January 5 (night of the OSU bowl game).
  10. Hi, You replied to my into and said you went to both meyes and choben. I would really like to talk more directly with you about this. Would you object to contacting me directly on the phone just to chat. I am so confused about what to do and would love to talk more to someone who has made the decision and reviewed the same doctors I am looking at. My # at work is 614-757-6654 or my cell is 813-817-6527. I hope I hear from you.

    Thanks,

    Sue

    New to site...

Sue- Welcome to lap band talk! I live in Columbus and had my lap band surgery in May of theis year. I checked out Dr. Meyers and Mt. Carmel West. I went with Mt. Carmel West and it has been a great experience. I am now down 60 pounds this year and feel great. Feel free to PM me for more info. Try out the Mt. Carmel info session. Dr. Choban was great! Amy
  12. I went in at 257 and went out at 262. It took about a week and then I was down 14 lbs. Enjoy the liquid diet.

    Exercising and Plateau

Thank you all for your different ideas. First, I wear a heart rate monitor that tracks my calories burned and to make sure I am in the range to burn off fat. That is how I know how many calories I burn per session. It was a great purchase at Target (Polar Heart Rate Monitor). Second, my plateau is gone. I have dropped about 6 pounds in the last two weeks. How? Started training for a half marathon that I will be doing in May. I do not just walk 5-6 days a week, I only walk 3 and do cross training on the other days. It can be Zumba Classes or Yoga. I also have gotten back to the basics and really am watching the amount of Protein I have been taking in. I do not think that I was getting enough. Also, I spoke with my nutritionist and she told me not to add any more calories to my day unless I feel that I need it. It is interesting how everyone is different. Thanks again for help.

How much/often are you working out?

I am training for a half marathon and I walk 4 miles 3 times a week and then do either strength training, zumba, yoga or elliptical on 2 other days.
  15. Help- I have been stuck with my weight for a while now. I am walking about 3.5 miles a day and getting anywhere between 1200 and 1400 calories a day. Also, when I walk it is more of a reacewalk, and I have taken up doing Zumba and other fitness classes in the evening. I burn about 700 calories a day. What should I do? I am tired of hearing that I am gaining muscle. How much muscle am I going to gain? Thanks-
