Freaking Out Over "I'm Not Losing" Posts
katwest replied to devotion's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded January 21st. I have only lost 30 pounds . I cannot afford an adjustment as my surgeon told me he had a link where I could get them for $150. yah right. Try $450 plus fees for the flouroscopy of $200. I wish I had gotten the gastric sleeve. I feel cheated and that Iwasted $8,000 of my own money. -
I have only been banded for 3 months so I didnt vote but I am going to reply. I had TERRIBLE acid reflux before my surgery. Immediately after surgery my reflux diminished and has not recurred one single time since.

My surgeon put a piece of my tummy around my band to stop slippage. Everyone has a different story to tell about their band. The whole I am in pain but skinny thing stays on my mind. I only have moderate discomfort and I know how to aleviate it. All in all I have started down a road that not only includes weightloss but just getting healthy in general. The fact that I spent $8,000 on this surgery motivated me to get up and go to the gym. It also convinces me that I do not need that candy bar or that soda. I have even changed the way I feed my children and have them on the track to a healthier lifestyle. maybe its because I am so scared of wasting so much money, I dont know. What I do know is I do not regret weight loss surgery. I however, wish I had enough money to get the gastric sleeve. It has a lot less complications and you dont have to continue to adjust the volume of your band.

I got double pneumonia and could not eat . I lost 16 pounds in one weeek while hospitalized. I tried those nutritional supplements like ensure for diabetics and they helped. It was right after my surgery so I was still very sore.I lost weight so fast my heart began giving out, and if not for the ensure I would now have a pacemaker. The lack of eating also cause extreme anemia and I had to have blood transfusions. All in all I was very ill but I do NOT regret getting my band. I am feeling much better now and even exercise about four times per week. It passed but it took a lot out of me.

I was self pay and boy did I have complications. After surgery I developed double pneumonia and severe anemia. I had to be hospitalized for a week. My insurance paid. then, being stupid i got a peice of meat stuck and insurance paid for that too. Now band complications, ie leaking etc, I have no clue about.
