Looking for a mentor &/or buddy!
bridgetsband replied to Jennifer8's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Jenni, I'm over a year out from my band placement and I don't regret it. Some days are hard and there's a learning curve to eating, but it was worth it. Feel free to chat with me anytime. Bridget -
Sure! And because we live in a world full of disclaimers, I have to say I'm not a dietician but here is the link I used: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html but there are also a lot of mentions about it on this site too that can give good tips or different types of soft proteins to try when in the different phases.

Have you seen your surgeon for a fill or done a 5 day pouch test/reset? I was at a plateau and just got the tiniest of fills - .1cc and it reset me. I noticed just enough restriction again.

Thank you! I've lost 70 and haven't hit my goal yet. I started at 264 and want to get to a toned 180 or 175. I felt great for most of the journey. I did have to have my gallbladder out a few months after being banded which slowed my progress some because of recovering from that surgery. Other than a little reflux every now and then, I feel great! Feeling like you did pre-surgery is good; you don't want to feel miserable. I can recommend a cookbook or other things if you'd like

Louie'sMom, how are you feeling? In one week, it'll be my one year bandiversary. I'm still losing. It does come off more slowly than other methods but I'm not dealing with loose skin so we don't have to worry about that surgery... keep in touch.

Hi everyone. Banded 7/29/16 First fill 9/16/16 (4cc's) Just found out today I need my gallbladder out. I know this is a known post surgical complication for some people...but this seems like it came on so soon after surgery. Has anyone else had to have it removed so soon after surgery? I'm just trying to see if it's common or maybe something else is going on with my gallbladder. I could've sworn they checked it in preop and it was fine but maybe they didn't check it. Sip Water slowly but stay ahead of dehydration and take your meds and gas-X like @ said and sleep propped up or in a recliner if you can. It helps Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Slight gain - will insurance deny?
bridgetsband replied to bridgetsband's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi Alex, My surgery went well. It was July 29. I had a quick recovery. I did have a brutal migraine the week after the procedure...not sure if that was random or related to the recovery. What Protein drinks are you drinking? During my second week, I sort of stopped craving food like I had been. I loved premiere protein. It kept me satisfied for hours! And broth was a lifesaver. Before I was doing preop, I couldn't believe people were satisfied on broth and Popsicles and protein but now that I'm on the other side, you can totally do it. I was very sore waking up from surgery...but, I only needed the pain meds for 3 days. Any questions you have, feel free to ask Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Tips on getting enough water?
bridgetsband replied to bridgetsband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
96 was before surgery and on my own. Surgeon recommends minimum 64 and I'm barely getting half of that now. Partially out of fear of drinking too fast and vomiting Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hi everyone, Before being banded (July 29), I would drink at least 96 ounces of Water - usually more. Since being banded, I'm having a very difficult time even drinking 32 ounces. I think I'm very dehydrated (dizzy, weak, headache...). Any tips on getting enough water? I'm almost to a point where I might go get an IV because I feel so bad and almost faint. Thanks in advance! How do you make those? I would love to try it! Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App Just slice a zucchini into rounds - not too thin. Put a little olive oil on them and sea salt (some people put Parmesan and panko but I make them plain) you can put red pepper flakes or chipotle on. Play with flavored you like. 450 degrees for 25 minutes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
