Thanks Alex, I was banded 2yrs ago yesterday and, yes, I am very worried lately reading this site. I can count on one hand the instances of heartburn ive had since banding and now I have it everyday. I never would get heartburn--now theres a volcano errupting inside me. P.S. I have hardly vomited since banding, so it would seem to rule out a slip, although maybe there could be a slight one; my restriction(what little I had) has been gone for months--I just wish I could fast foward to my apt 1/12... I was banded stateside and had no port problems or complications so hopefully there is no erosion. I will hold out for an endoscopy, though sounds like it will be an uphill battle. :phanvan

Have any of you had this? It is pressure or pulling...

I am two yrs out 12/23. The strange port feeling started just a few wks ago, like you guys said it was pressure/pulling, so I was worried. I will be having flouro and a fill in the new yr, so hopefully the port is fine. Thanks everyone.

Why did you choose the band over GB?
melati replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I suggest going to the obesityhelp.com complications forum; you will find mostly RNY pt's there. Erosion and slippage, while serious, are treatable; RNY complications such as strictures and bowel obstructions are life-threatening. Being concerned with complications is all the more reason to make sure you have a top notch surgeon; mine told me he has never had an erosion. It is also the best reason to follow your post-op rules, which, I know from my support group mtgs, are virtually the same for RNY and the band. -
Hi--nice to hear from you again. Where is that statistic on the inamed site? Could you post the link?

anyone here start with a bmi under 40?
melati replied to Bruce Peter's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Most dr.'s have come around on this...it is quite normal for ppl to be banded at lower bmi's these days. My BMI was about 39 when I started. Feel free to email me if you have questions. -
I am so sorry for you! Did you become infected during surgery or a fill? I have never heard of this happening...Who is your surgeon?
-
I have heard bad things about them; the surgeon took his instruments out of what looked like a tackle box; they dumped this person at the border and have since been unavailable to answer any questions. I advised her to go to the er as due to the risk of infection IMO it's just not worth the risk...

This is exactly how I feel--I am at 1.75

For the super obese, RNY may not take them far enough though--many of these ppl end up still in the 200s
-
Yes, it is possible--there is a woman on the obesityhelp.com lap band forum who had this done, but usually it is performed by a surgeon who has specialized in these cases like Dr. Ariel Ortiz. Don't know what results they get b/c i don't know enough ppl who had it done to follow the outcome.

I take it cream no sugar, but splenda is an excellent substitute. If you are a light coffee drinker, the coffee can count as liquids and the caffiene is a mild appetite supressent; coffee is not a diuretic as previously thought.

It may have something to do with the reluctance of U.S . doctors to treat MX banded patients; I am under the impression that erosion occurs after untreated slippage...

Hi everyone I am new here. I will probably be using Fill Centers USA in the next few months and was wondering if anyone here has used this new service. How was your experience? did they find the port right away? Thanx for listening. Julie
