  1. oh yeah...all of that i already know...it's the same process basically as going for Gastric Bypass...the hospital team has been doing this for a LONG time...we just have a new surgeon to the area, that's all...thanks for the info though
  2. that's what made me really look into lap-band....a few months ago my mom was at our PCP checking in (she had GB a few years ago and looks amazing) and when the PCP asked how I was, she told my mom that she already knows the new surgeon and is recommending me for the surgery. She thinks I'm a great candidate and referred me to start the process :tongue2: I'm excited and going to the seminar on 3/13...

    Process...

those are both very helpful..thanks! I'm finding more and more people who don't have to wait an entire year before having the surgery. I've heard lately that the more health problems you have the longer it actually takes to get the surgery and that if you are in generally good health (minus being 100 lbs overweight and having a BMI of over 40) you get approved and can have the surgery sooner. I am completely expecting this to take much less that a year. I'm hoping to be banded in the next 6 months....well I also completely believe in The Secret so let me say that I expect to be banded in the next 6 months :tongue2: I'm excited to be one of the members here that can share my story instead of asking others for their story....
  4. I'm interested to know what everyone's "process" was from the moment they decided to look into the surgery to the actual procedure...how long did it take? Any special diets before surgery? How many different appointments? I"m just begining my journey and i can't get enough information about people's different stories! Thanks for sharing!! Barbie:thumbup:

    Weight Watchers lovers

I'm just starting the process but I joined WW (again) in the mean time....it's all about portion control for me so i'm all about their meals. The best one by far is the Santa Fe Rice and Beans...YUMMY and filling....those of you already banded definately won't be able to eat the whole thing though. Also ridiculously good is the Szecuan (SP?) chicken/pasta and the Cheddar Potatoes and Broccoli....they have a lot of really tasty meals...i'll stop talking about food now...lol

    Lap-Band in Upstate NY

Gilta, are you just in upstate NY or are you in Rochester? And what insurance do you haev (if you don't mind my asking) because I know that not all of them require the 6 month WLP.... Also, should I look into the first nutrition meeting before I go to the seminar or after? And can you go to those meetings before your insurance approves the surgery? Barbie

    Lap-Band in Upstate NY

Molly, you just made my day! I've kind of heard something like this, but to know that it doesn't ALWAYS take over a year makes me feel much better. I more than qualify with my weight and BMI, but I have no other health problems except that my joints are starting to hurt from all the excess weight.... How are you feeling since you're out of surgery for a few weeks now? And did your doctor give you a band that was unfilled just after surgery or did he/she fill it slightly during the surgery?
