Any July 2015 sleevers out there?
melbykins posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery in July 2015 and have gone through a roller-coaster of issues! I've lost a lot of weight but have dealt with all kinds of things. I'd love to hear from other people! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
What are your go to "snacks"?
melbykins replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I loved Protein packs, which have meat, cheese and nuts in them. Yogurt is a great source of protein, as well as hummus. I eat a lot of that still, and I'm almost a year post-op. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Congratulations! That's wonderful. When I started wearing different clothes, I knew that my surgery had been worth it, because of how good I felt and how my health had improved. I may never be skinny, but I'm becoming happier with who I am Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Looking in the mirror
melbykins replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My body image has been very distorted, and I have trouble accepting this "new" me. I look in the mirror and don't recognize the person looking back, which is VERY strange. I have talked to my therapist a lot about it, which has helped. My doctor and dietician say this is very normal for bariatric patients Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
That's all very normal. If you have questions, or something doesn't feel right, definitely call your doctor. It gets better! It really does Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi there! It's perfectly normal to feel crabby, scared of eating, or even have regrets about the surgery. I went through all of that! Congratulations on your weight loss, and going through with the surgery. You will do great Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was much more nervous about the approval part too! I knew I had done everything that was required, but the nerves were still there. You can do it!! You have begun your journey! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

melbykins replied to MzStockton's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery in July 2015, and have lost about 80 pounds so far. I have lost a lot of inches and wear all new clothes. I am still working on healthy eating but am doing better. I have listened to my doctor and my dietician, and am exercising regularly. I realize now how bad my health was at my highest weight, and how much better I feel now! Just starting journey
melbykins replied to photoman06's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your journey so far! The liquid phase is very important, so follow your doctor's orders. I agree about chicken broth and jello; they will help you to feel full. The shakes are not very good at making you feel full! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
