@@nakole73 I'm getting sleeved 8/10 also. I'm very nervous but also so excited. I am ready to do this. I'm trying to get the house clean & get rid of all the bad food in the pantry & start getting all the liquid/protein supplies... Let's keep in touch! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've been approved despite gaining 5 lbs from my initial appointment. I'm so relieved. My surgery is 8/8 and I have BCBS federal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@@loca_lette813 when I had my first appointment with Dr., I was 271. My insurance requires 90 days supervised weight loss. During my middle appointment I was up to 283. By my last appointment I was down to 276. They just submitted to my insurance (BCBS Federal) yesterday so I don't know yet if I'll be approved because of the weight gain. I'm really nervous, but Drs office thinks it should be okay... Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

My APPROVAL story with BCBS Federal (TX)
Apple85 replied to NewLife1985's topic in Insurance & Financing
Was there ever any concern that gaining weight would have an effect on your approval? I have BCBS Federal Basic. I have 30 days to go in the 90 day process and I've gained 7lbs since I started the process (60 days ago). My dr's office has stressed that I have to lose at least those 7 and then some as they've seen others be denied for gaining in the nutrition & Med supervised WL time... I'm really nervous, which is not helping the weight loss Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
That's great @SusanB55. I have my second set of nut & med supervised weight loss appointments later this week. We both did our sleep studies last week & unfortunately I had a terrible allergic reaction to the Medipore tape used, but I'm much better now. I'm trying to be patient & read & plan as much as I can before surgery but I wish it was surgery time already! Well keep up the good work & congrats!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I've had Mirena for 1 year, never been pregnant. I thought it was horrible pain, worse than any menstrual cramps I'd ever had. That being said, it hurt for about 5 minutes, then I was just sore for the rest of the day. I haven't had a period since so I think it was totally worth the pain!! I also sucked at taking the pill. Since I first posted, my husband has also had his first consult with Dr. Monash. We will be about 30 days apart from each other in the approval process. Dr Monash said he wouldn't recommend having our surgeries any less than 30 days apart. I'm so happy that we will go through this process around the same time & it's great to hear about another couple! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

New Here! Just starting the process and scared as hell (but excited too)

I'm on the same timeline as you also! I had my initial consult on 3/25. My insurance requires nutrition classes & Med supervised weight loss for 90 days, which I started on 4/5. I hope to be approved in early July. An aunt of mine had gastric bypass & I was amazed by her transformation. She has been very open about her process but I'm really shy to tell anyone about this. I'm in my early 30s and worry that people will think I'm being lazy or taking the easy way out because I'm so young. That being said, I'm determined to do this and feel a lot of hope about the future. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm in Tucson and have started the process to get approved through BCBS Federal. I'm seeing Dr. Monash. I will hopefully jump through all the hoops for approval in July 2016. Sent from my iPhone
