I was banded on the 13th of March. My strips were off 10 days later. I saw my dr the next day, he said everything loked great. He had said if they haven't come off in two weeks I could remove them.

txchick, did you go for the seminar? How did you like the dr? I used dr collier, I had surgery on March 13th. I really like him so far. I am still on full liguids, only 3 more days to go!!!!! Lynne and I both had our surgeries at the JourneyLite center in houston. We are both self pay so the process is much faster. As for me, Dr. collier had a cancelation so I went from 1st visit to surgery in 10 days. If I can answer any questions let me know.

I emailed her but haven't heard back yet. It may be tommorow. Are you having any trouble with the diet. I feel like I'm hungry most of the day. Of course it doesn't help that I have to feed my kido's all day. But I'm determined to stay on course. Today was better than yesterday thank goodness.

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
momof321 replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My doctor requires a diet also. I went in for my consult of March 3 and am scheduled for surgery on the 13th. I immediately started the diet. It's so sad but I felt cheated out of my last meal. I am having a hard time with the diet. I am hungry most of the day. But I've told myself if I can't do this for 10 days I shouldn't have the surgery. It is soooo Hard. I'm a stay at home mom and I am in the kitchen so much cooking for the kido's. I am just taking it one day at a time. I just can't think about tomorrow. -
Today is the first day of pre-op diet. I was doing ok until about 1:00 pm. I started feeling jittery and had a terrible headache. I didn't know if I could make it but I did. I've eaten my meat and veggie dinner and am starting to feel better. I think I can deal with the hunger just not feeling bad. Does anyone else feel jittery because they aren't able to eat.

Hello I am new to this. I went for my consult yesterday and I wil have surgery on March 13th. I started to pre op diet today. I am hungry but not unbearable yet. I think it is in my head because I normally don't eat until later in the day. I was very nervous about seeing the doctor but after meeting with him I feel good and I am very excited to get started.

How did you get your surgery appt. before your consult? Wow I am so excited for you. In a way it scares me, My appt is March 3 also to have the surgery 10 days later. I'm not sure I'm ready to go that fast. I wish I could help you with your questions but I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Maybe we will meet each other in the office or at a support group. Best of luck to you on your journey. -
My insurance does not cover lap band surgery. I am considered looking into other insurance. Has anyone had the surgery with insurance they have purchased individually ???? I live in texas if anyone has private insurance please let me know

momof321 replied to 853123's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am self pay in houston area. Journeylite offers free fills for life and 1 year aftercare for 13,500. I thought that was a pretty good deal. I have a consultation march 3, hopefully it will go fast after that. -

I have not been banded yet so I have no idea what you are going through. I have been on a liquid diet for 3-4 months before. I don't know if this will help but during that time the dietician told me If you don't eat any carbs just the protien drink your body will go into ketosis in about 3 days. This is where you body starts to burn fat for energy. When your body goes into ketosis you won't be hungry anymore. And it really did help me alot after three days I really wasn't hungry. Maybe if you try to just drink your shakes and no carbs for 3 days it will help you to.:tongue2: best if luck. I went to the doc for a follow-up visit on Monday (2 days ago). I told my doctor that I had been doing my liquids etc. and that I was starving. He went on to explain (which I already knew) about how until I have a fill I am not going to be restricted and will be hungry. He told me I could "upgrade" to puree/mushies. Well, I have taken that to the limit. This morning at 9A after dropping my son off at school I was STARVING and went to Taco Bell and ate refried beans. The portion was not like when I was a teenager and it was a full 1/2 to 3/4 cup. This was more like 1/4 cup. Well 1/2 hour later I had a carton of 2% milk. 1/2 hour later I was still hungry and went back and had ANOTHER refried beans! Then, you won't believe this (I feel like i'm at the confessional) at 1:30 p.m. I went to McDonalds and ordered the new double filet of fish sandwich without the bun. Well, like with the beans, I took very small bites, chewed about 1,00 times and loved everything second of it. I took about 25 minutes to eat it. After about 45 minutes I had 2 bottles of water. But don't stop there. At 6:45 tonight I was again STARVING and my son and I were running errands and stopped at Applebees. Let the party begin. I ordered this new "chopped" beef steak that came with two sides. Macaroni and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes were my two choices. I ate 1/2 the chopped steak, the mac/cheese which was about 1/2 c. and I was done. O.k. so here's my questions and thoughts. I know this period is referred to as "bandster hell" because we are hungry and not restricted yet. If I am still following the "band rules" i.e. small bites, chewing thoroughly and stopping when I am satisfied, am I going to stretch or "dilate" my pouch? I obviously don't want to undo anything but am o.k. eating like this until I get my fill. What do you guys think? Marie -
Well I made the call. I go to seminar on the 29th of feb. Thanks for the help. I feel better now that I took that first step.

Tracy I live in texas and have been trying to get up the nerve and call to make my appt for orientation. I am so scared. I am not as afraid of the surgery and failing to lose the weight. Do you worry about that to? Malinda
