Friction with my best friend
busybeebug replied to gonefromhere's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
She sounds very upset with her own self image and sees you getting healthier and it hurts her. Be there for her when she needs and asks for support. If she can't handle your changes then you have to let her go. I'm having an awkward phase with my SIL. She helped me get on track mentally by encouraging me to seek psych. Treatment. She supported me when I was really struggling. When I started my wls journey she kept saying she will never do it because she loves her food. I don't judge. Everyone has their own path. Now I am down a significant amount and she has gained a significant, she is weird around me. I try not to talk about my choices too much or how much I am loosing. It just weird. She is so down on herself and wants to change but wont take the steps. She might not be ready. Iwill be there to support her if she wants it. I wish she could be happy with herself. -

HELP! Freaking out - need honest feedback
busybeebug replied to minervaxx6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 9/19. It wasn't bad for me. I had a hiatal hernia repair too. The worst of it came about 30 hours after surgery. When I started walking again more frequently it subsided. Hang in there. Every ones pain tolerance is different. If the group freaks you out then unsubscribe. -
If you know it's not an incision site, I would clean it out. If it is a site then call you doctor

Confession: I drink soda. Anyone else?
busybeebug replied to ella37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take sips when my stomach is upset and I need to burp. Sometimes because I want to. I don't think I could handle a full serving nor do I want to at the moment. In my opinion If you treat food/ drinks as forbidden or naughty then you could set yourself for set backs or binges . I'm not sure what your issues are with your path to becoming obese. I don't know where you are now in establishing a better relationship with food. We have to learn how to make better choices and learn to accept the times when we screw up and get back to healthy eating. I'm not perfect by any means but I am trying to be on program as possible. It is very easy for us to know and say what needs to be done but living it is different. Good luck and much love to you! You can do this! -

Anxiety/Health Anxiety folks Help plz
busybeebug replied to VivVsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have panic attacks. It used to be the most terrifying feelings ever. Through talk therapy and learning coping skills such as breathing exercises , it is not so bad. One thing to do during is name : 5 things you can see 5 things you can smell 5 things you can hear an 5 things you can touch that is around you It distracts your mind and can get you less stressed. Best advice is talk to a psychiatrist, they can find an appropriate medication for you. I know it can be a long wait to get to see one so you maybe able to get a script from your GP to help you get through. However it is better to see a doctor who specializes in mental health. They know and keep up with the latest therapies better than a GP. As for frequency decline post op, it will depend on what your triggers are. Seek treatment is my best advice. -

Question for diabetics
busybeebug replied to krissyfattofab's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went low a bunch of times during the liquid phase. I would drink a bit of Gatorade or OJ or hot tea with a tsp of sugar. I do consume small amounts of sugar through out the day post op usually in my hot tea or from fruit. If I don't I get lows and life gets miserable. My Surgeon prefers the sugar free diet. I do not tolerate sugar substitutes. I have to learn to live. I keep the sugars under 10g per serving. I have noticed that as time keeps passing, I don't need as much to keep my bs even. Hopefully things will even out for him as well. -

You are not a failure. You hit a tough spot. You made it this far you will be able to knock it off again.Turning it around is a very good possibility. It will depend on your life. The more you dwell on the "failure" the harder it can be mentally to do it. You need to decide and commit to change just like you did when you decided to get the surgery. I'm still fresh in my post op so I can't identify exactly with this struggle at the moment. Commit to changing. Do it in steps. You are not a failure. You hit a tough spot. You made it this far you will be able to knock it off again. One more bit of advice: talk to your surgeon, nutritionist and or mental health professional. If they (surgeon and nutritionist ) are truly patient oriented, they will see you as a follow up and help you find ways to get back on track. You can do this!

I have coffee basically whenever I want to but I am not a heavy drinker. I did hold off until 2 weeks post op because my stomach was irritated and acidy even with a PPI. My thought is try a little, if it is not well received then try in a week or so. Basically it's how you try out a new food.

Miralax is my friend. I too had that horrid poop experience. I wanted to die. Child birth was easier, I had an epidural lol. I used Miralax for about 2.5 weeks, then transitioned to a Probiotic vitamin. It keeps me regular. If I get too loose, I go every other day with the probiotic .

Chhhheeeeeesssseeeeahhhhh! I love it. Havarti Gouda Feta Parma. Cheddar Asiago mozzarella Brie provolone Colby blue cheese... love it all. I do a snack of cheese, almond ( or nut of choice) and grapes. It makes me happy. I started soft cheeses when I was allowed soft foods. I see a cheese board at a holiday party and I am happy!

I am 12lbs from dropping under 200. Stepped on the scale at 211! I can't freaking believe it! I'm so happy. I feel so good. I am actually going skiing this evening. It's the first time in (oh I can't remember) maybe 7 years. I've been doing aqua fit for the last 6 weeks and this week I started actually swimming laps. I am able to swim 3/4 of the way under water also I can do 6 laps before I need to take a rest. Slowly I am getting my life back.

You could have been clenching your fists too hard when you were sleeping . You might need potassium boost or sodium could drop ( I get that some times). If you are allowed, drink some V8 or something like that. Or it could just be an ordinary ache or pain. You might just be hyper aware of your body or anxious over anything going awry. Watch and see. Obviously if it gets unbearable or consistent call you Dr. Congrats on the surgery! Good luck
