  1. A bit dramatic, eh? I bought a hot chicken Sandwhich from Sheetz. I was picking the chicken ( grilled not fried) and cheese off the bread. I consumed a little less than 1/2 of the chicken and cheese. I get about 20 miles down the road and my stomach rolled hard. My chest tightened, I was wavering from sweats to clammy. I felt the food rise up. I was trying to make it to the next rest stop however that was not to be. I spent the next 65 miles stopping, expelling the food, then going about 5-10 miles and repeat. It took 3.5 hours to make a 2 hour drive home. I seriously thought I was dying at one point. I pulled bunch of muscles. I am thinking it was more like bad spoiled food than over eating. Lesson Learned. I will not forget to pack my safe friendly food again. I still feel like poop as I lay here in bed with hot packs.

It felt like death was coming

Will they give u a side of chicken or steak at Taco Bell Sent from my HTC Desire 626s using the BariatricPal App Sheetz is a gas station chain that has a full menu/kitchen for subs Sandwhich es fried crap and specialty coffees and other beverages. They have been expanding to cover more health conscious choices. My Sandwhich was only 280 with 17 grams of Protein. Since I don't eat the bread, the calories would be a little less but I still count the whole amount.

It felt like death was coming

Really? I didn't think of dumping. I've eaten chicken and cheese with no problem, maybe it was how it was prepped. Oh well! Any ways that sucked horribly regardless of the cause! Like I said in my previous post, I won't be forgetting my foods again.

Hate sugar free stuff. What do I do?

I had the same issue. I use real sugar, raw sugar, honey and pure maple syrup to sweeten. However it is in very small quantities and frequency. The guidelines I was given is to keep the sugars under 10g at one sitting. Ideally under 5 grams. I put about .5 teaspoon of sugar in tea or 1teaspoon of honey. Check with your surgeon or nutritionist.

What do you do at the gym?

How fit are you now? You may benefit on 1 or 2 sessions with a trainer. They can help you gauge where you are physically and help you find the right plan to follow. A lot of gyms around me give one free session. I think planet fitness has trainers on staff that doesn't cost extra so you ask as many of times as you want ( within reason)
  8. Great job on the rapid weight loss! Mad props to you! I'm feeling a little of what you are talking about. I am anxious about looking like a deflated balloon. I spoke to my Nut, Surgeon and a physical therapist. All of them said without an ounce of hesitation that exercise and light weight/resistance training will help keep you firm and potentially avoid saggy floppies and deflated sad tush. If you can speak to a physical therapist or a trainer to suggest exercises to help keep the curves curving. They said you dont have to commit to hours at the gym to tone up. I'm not far out at all so I can't speak to the results part. I also have continued therapy to help me transition through these issues both good and bad.

Shot to Reduce Risk of Blood Clots

I had 1 shot in Day of discharge and that was it. I'm 41 and haven't had any issues with clotting. Another using same doctor needed 1 week and her husband needed 2 weeks. I think it just depends on your labs, overall health and history

    Driving

As long as I wasn't taking the narcotic pain reliever, I was able to do it day 3 per my Surgeon, day 5 per my discharge papers so I split it and drove day 4. I felt good enough to drive. No dizziness no confusion, no uncoordination, no restrictions on movement in my neck arms feet and torso. But that's just me.

    Too much Constipation

Also you can eat yogurt,Greek or regular, or a probiotic to help keep things moving after or in conjunction with the "motivator" .

    Too much Constipation

Miralax or generic brand of it does the job for me Usually with in 8 hours I go 24 and 2 doses if it's really backed up
  13. I'm just about 6 weeks out. I eat my few bites and stop. I'm not *stuffed* but I feel full. I wait the 30 minutes and I'm still feeling full and adding a sip makes me nauseated. I am very thirsty but obviously I am not going to make myself sick so I wait. I cannot drink until about 1.5 to 2 hours later. If I have something like yogurt, I only need to wait 45 minutes to an hour. It's frustrating. Do any of you have or had this issue? Does this wait time cut down as you heal better?

    Body jewelry....

I kept my daith piercing in. Because it took forever to heal. Just make sure to tell them at hospital. You may have to take them out.

    Time between eating and drinking

Yeah I have appointments on Monday. I just was curious to see if this was common. I participated in a 5k this morning and I know I'm at a deficit on water right now. I'm struggling to get it in without eating.

    Exercise after surgery

I was cleared at 4 weeks to do as tolerated. I am running in a 5k tomorrow just about 6 weeks out. Totally not prepared as I thought I would be between bad weather and plain old bad lazy tired days
  17. Way to go you look amazing. Keep up the good work
  18. Right now I'm loving the Gerber Lil Bits Oatmeal Banana Strawberry. Mix my protien powder in it. Other than eggs and oatmeal, what do you folks eat?
  19. I've been using genepro. I count the scoop as on 15 grams because it doesn't sound right that the scoop is,equal to 30 grams of protien. My Surgeon agreed with me. I put it in hot beverages ( under 140 degrees). It tastes better in Apple sauce or oatmeal.

    Breakfast anyone?

This time of year my favorite sugar cereal is out : Count Chocula ( followed by Boo berry and Frankenberry respectively) since I'm not physically hungry, resisting is easier. However it won't cross into my house. That would be too tempting at the moment

    Food and insurance

The lab work can be ordered by your PCP and depending how it's coded ( covered benefit) , it should be covered by insurance. Prior to my surgery journey, my Pcp ran the same blood tests to see if I was deficient. This applied to several different insurance companies that I worked with or for. Obviously things can change but I have a friend recently who had a,self pay procedure done, had an infection which insurance picked up the cost per the benefits for the infection. You going to your PCP for follow up care like weight checks, blood work can be considered as covered.

    Lack of PROTEIN!

Each day or so add a little more to your diet. Mix a little unflavored into your broth or apple sauce or drinks. It doesn't have to be the full scoop, maybe half if you are still anxious about your stomach getting upset.

    Did I make a mistake?

If God lead you to it, God will get you through it! I prayed leading up to this and always had a deep peace about it even when I was freaking out with the surface emotions.
  24. That's something to talk about with your gyn. Some general rules of thumb from my untrained exerience of heavy bleeding. If you are heavy like a super maxi pad every hour or so, then you should probably go to the er. Obviously if you are experiencing other symptoms lIke pain, dizziness, extreme fatigue, nausea, shivers, fever, pale and clammy, heart flutters, racing heart beat, hypotension, irregular heart beat on top of the bleeding then go to er. Basically call the gyn, leave message with the answering service and talk to who is on call and, seek their advice. If you feel you are in more dire situation go to Erie, call gyn on the way over to give a heads up
