    Reality is setting in...

I'm in the same boat. One minute I'm excited next minute I'm scared sometimes I'm like yeah whatever, sometimes it's why did I wait this long. Then what am I doing. I have no real doubts. I am 100% ready for this but the emotions just roll.I'm lucky to travel between now and Sept 19. I get to ride in a Tall Ship during a parade of sail. I might be able to go into a helo to take aerial photos of the event. I'm waiting game for final clearance in the latter. Staying in my favorite hotel for just about a week for work. Hopefully this will keep my mind busy for the most part. I am having one big (ish) who cares meal at the melting pot. I've totally been craving this experience. I refuse to call it a "food funeral" because when I hit my goal and eating at whatever my normal diet will be, I should be able to eat a modified menu there if I choose to. Who knows I may not even want to. Ack... it's coming soon. Lol Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeve Regretters

I know several people who at various wls. The successful ones took the pre op period to work on having a better relationship with food, finding coping skills to deal with triggers. They figured out if they could make the life long commitment to living post wls. We're they perfect all the time pre and post? Of course not but they always got back on track. The ones who did not do well had thought that the, surgery would magically fix their problem . They never invested the time and energy to figure out how to eat well. They slipped back into old habits within 6 months to a year. I know one person who had severe hypertension , diabetes and more issues, they struggle emmensly. Weight loss came very slowly. They had a stroke after wsl but not related to the surgery. You typically get out what you put into it. Obviously there are exceptions to that thought. For me the risks of wls is worth it. Everybody's journey is different . Only you can carve your path. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery Cover Stories?

Well its just a vague truth. You are a female and you're having surgery therefore you are having female surgery. People just assume its an exclusively that kind of surgery It's all in how you spin it. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  15. My final pcp and clearance appointment is tomorrow so anxiety is high. When my anxiety is high I bake. I am working on not doingthat, but today I failed. I made my aaaaahhhmazing double chocolate fudge brownies. I did take 3 small bites of batter. I baked it. When it was done, I cut a piece. I took a bite then realized I didn't really want it. I just was looking for the comfort. Then I proceeded to dump the whole pan of brownies down the disposal. I felt bad for wasting food but that junk food is not good for any of us in this house. So a small victory over a bad choice Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Good outcome of bad choice

Thank you! I'm just glad I didn't keep it. Like you I've spent decades leaving a clean plate. My kids are petite because they stop when full and I never pushed them to finish. It was just conditioned in me to leave a clean plate. However these past 6 months I leave food behind and not take doggy bags. ???? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

  20. I've had all that except lung function and gall bladder ( it's already gone) I've done chest x-rays, and sleep study. So yeah we are lab rats for a bit. Ha ha Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  21. You make very good points. I actually had my Medical Clearance examination with my PCP today and she and I talked about it, and she made many of the same points you are making. She also put my fears to rest about not steadily losing after the surgery since I have lost so much pre-op. She said as long as I do what the surgeon tells me to do, then I will continue losing at the same rate or better than I have been losing the past 6 months. Good luck as you continue your journey! Good luck to you too! Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op endoscopy set backs?

    Pre-op endoscopy set backs?

I've had nodules removed from my stomach before I started the wls. Mine came back with mild dysplasia. They just repeated the endo in 3 months, removed another one. Repeated in 3 months, all clear repeated in 6 months all clear. I think as long as it was removed and nothing bad comes from the biopsy, you should be fine. Your will just need to be checked for a little while. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  24. Here's what I think for me. I've lost 80 pounds before. Gained it back plus 20. Lost 50. Gained it back plus 30. I've done other diets lost a few, gained it back. I'm tired of yo you. Grant it surgery is only a tool but I know I'm not going to be able to loose what I need to be healthy. I started 288 in March. Last time I chrck I was 270. I go for my 6th weigh in Friday with projected surgery date Sept 19. I'm 41. I am a diabetic , have fibro, my joints hurt, arthritis in my knees. And none of that will change unless I can radically change my life. I've proven that I can't do this on my own on a longer term basis. I look at all the money literally wasted on gyms I never went to , weight-loss programs that never really worked. I've figured out my triggers emotionally. Im learning to cope other ways.I am working on putting things in the past and not harping on it. I need this permanent change to help me be healthier and live life for me and not vicariously thru watching others. Since I lost a few pounds, that thought of doing on my own crept in but I sat down and looked hard at facts and that thought disappeared quickly. For me this is my best way to be healthy. Risks of not doing it are too high. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
