I had my original surgery June 14th. Leak repair, abdominal wash on the 21st. Stent placed a few days later. Went home for a few days and readmitted (sepsis) had to have abdominal tubes. Back on July 16th sepsis again, CDiff. Collapsed lung and thoracotomy on July 26th. I was on the hospital a little over seven weeks. I am pretty miserable and on short term disability. Having a very difficult time and in the anger and regret stage. I am 41 and was in pretty decent health (thank goodness or I would not have made it) I still have a leak (they called contained) and we just have to watch and wait. I have to live with the constant fear of it happening again. I was scared to share my story because I know many people who have had this surgery with no difficulty at all but I strongly suggest you consider that this could happen. I just received my first statement from my June (2 week hospital stay) and it was 206,000$. I haven't received the statement for the month long stay in July. I am planning on having surgery about 1 month prior to going to the beach. Other than the eating I am concerned about getting dehydrated. Any suggestions? Should I be concerned? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
