  1. It's when the surgeon uses a robotic assistant to perform the surgery. Usually the Davinci Surgical System. It's really neat, once the incisions are made and tools placed, the surgeon controls it from a separate station. It can be controlled with extreme precision, and the surgeon doesn't have to keep looking away from the instruments to watch the monitors, so it often results in faster healing and less pain. I actually could see the robot that my surgeon used for a minute, right before they put me under. It looked so cool!

    Day 7 question

I feel you! It's day 6 for me, and while I am not feeling hungry at all, I am definitely feeling drained of energy, like my fuel tank is beyond empty. However, my surgeon specifically told me that even if I'm feeling great, don't advance the eating plan or it could compromise the healing process. Never thought purees would be so appealing, but right now they sound so good!
  3. I'd been overweight for a while (hovering around 375 lbs), and was constantly going to start eating better "tomorrow," which would turn into "Monday" which would turn into "1st of next month." Then, I stepped on the scale at my Doctor's office and I had crossed 400 lbs (434 to be exact). That scared me and made me realize I needed to do something NOW. I asked at that appointment if my doctor thought I might be a good candidate for WLS. She was happy to give me a referral to their Weight Management/Bariatric Center. That was in August of last year. My surgery is now just a week away (April 21st!) and I'm finally looking forward to the future instead of dreading it.
