    prayer requests for LBT'ers

When I decided to have band surgery, i started counseling through my church. I always get to around 200 and someone makes a comment and wham. I start putting back on my safety suit. I wanted to work on the inside while the outside was getting smaller. Now 9 monthes into therapy I am dealing with some really heavy stuff. Incest, rejection, abandonment. The biggies. Please pray that I will make it through the process to the other side. A healthy child of God and that I can see myself as God sees me. Thanks, Shari

    Nontraditional Curse Words

I know that christians are big about not cussing. I am one so I feel I can speak from experience. I still cuss in my head when I get really mad.. Is that a sin? I don't think so. When I do "cuss" out loud my words of choice are DOODLE BUGS and POODLE POPS. Don't ask me where they came from.. Probably that 90% of my brain that I don't use. If I really want to be serious about it...Its still cussing isn't it?

    I love my band

Hello all, I haven't posted in awhile and thought that I would check in. I love my band. I can't believe how amazing the last 5 months have been. I see a counselor through my church and I am learning some great things about myself and healing some things that I don't like. Dr. Snow is thrilled with my progress and God has managed to put me on paths that lead me to talk to people about my surgery and how wonderful the experience is. I have only spewed 3-4 times and man does it stink. I find that all the times that I have barfed I was upset when I ate and ate without thinking about what I was doing. I still am naughty sometimes(Reeses Pieces are my drug of choice this week) but I catch myself before I get past 193 and get serious again. I only have 2.2 in my band so I can still eat bread and chicken easily. I have been known to chew on a piece of steak just to get the taste and then spit it out. Lord knows what it would do to make my band unhappy. The thought of swallowing my gum sends shivers down my back and drinking from a straw really does make me have less gas. Just rambling of a happy size 12 woman on her way to an 8. Blessings to all, have a great day.

    I Love My Band !!!!

I love my band. I am so happy to have it. When I had my surgery on November 17, I weighed 244. I went in for my 2 month post-op visit and I was down 30 lbs. My first fill was this past Wednesday the 11th and I was scared!!!!! The nurse wasn't very nice, she was mean and asked my why I felt I needed a fill. I told her that I had my surgery 8 weeks ago and it was time. AND I had paid cash for my surgery and the price included fills for the first year. I had paid for the fill and it was time. Since I had my fill. I have lost 7 pounds. I cant say enough about this surgery, my doctor and the joy that I have that I am almost under 200, my towel wraps all the way around me when I get out of the shower, my legs dont rub together anymore. I have so many things that I have noticed since I began this journey, I could not name them all.

    How About Soda?

My doctor told me at my post op visit that I could have Diet Coke as long as it was out of a fountain, or a bottle. No cans. It was one of the greatest days of my life. I immediately left his office and God put a Sonic right next door just for me. Pulled in a got a DC with Lime. IT WAS AWESOME !!!!! I have had no problem with gas, I just have to remember to drink my Water.

    Just an OT vent...

I am curious...Do you expect a thank you card? I am not sure what proper ettiquitte (sp) is in this situation....My married boyfriend and I would like to thank you for the 100.00 shoes...cd's...makeup...etc....The money did not go towards my unborn baby or the other 5 children that I have made without regard to their wellbeing or future. Selfish people make me CRAZY
  12. Dont forget about the mood swings, the short circuiting of our female brains due to the loss of sugar, carbs. Those dreaded hormones that are going crazy for the drop in weight. Just practice the follow .....YES, DEAR..... it will be your friend and keep you out of alot of trouble in the beginning.
  13. Why does the scale have such a hold on me? It is amazing that I don't think about the scale or what it will tell me when I am in the kitchen eating. I had my band surgery on the 17th. I have been steadily loosing weight, down 23 pounds. Then.... I get up on Sunday morning, get on the scale and I had gained a pound. I cried, I picked a fight with my husband, asked him if he was disappointed in me. I had convinced myself that I had lost my last pound. I was never going to loose another pound. What a psycho.... I am now on a scale fast. My husband has hidden it and when I start to spaz about my weight I will stop and tell myself that my sucess is not measured by some stupid number on a machine that was created in the pits of hell and ask God to give me enough grace to make it through this and ask Him what I can learn from this lapband experience that He has so creatively and graciously blessed me with and realize that I do not have to go through this alone. I am meeting with a psychologist at my church...yes, they have those. I know that I must heal the inside while I allow that band to help me with the outside. It is no walk in the park somedays. Sorry, but I had to purge myself of this and my hubby tries but just doesn't get it. Thanks for listening.

    Mushie Stage

Okay.... tomorrow is my 2 week aniversary. I tried to eat some mushies. My doc said applesauce, baby food consistancy foods, runny oatmeal. I have tried for the last two days.. I dont think i'm ready. I am so afraid to "PB" that i only eat about 2 oz and last night i got really nauseous. Not like i was going to throw up just really sick at my stomach. Could it be because I have been on liquids for 19 days and my tummy is just not use to food it has to work to digest? I think I may go back to liquids for a couple more days. Any suggestions for the mushie phase would be greatly appreciated. Shari Lou

In the liqued phase, please help!!!

Find a good Protein drink and add it to soy milk. That is the best way to get ur protein in. Also look for Soups that have protein. I have even blended soups that have meat in them to get enough. U dont have much longer....
