If you email Aetna on their site they should be able to email you back saying that you were approved. They did that to me within 12 hours.

I'm July 22nd too at 9:30 in San Fransisco with Dr. Cirangle. Can't wait! One month from tomorrow!

After 3 months of a diet with Aetna I got approved on Tuesday( took less than 3 days!) and set my surgery date today. I will have surgery on July 22nd in San Fransisco. I'm slightly bummed as I wanted the surgery in San Jose as the hospital here is 2 blocks from my house but I was approved for the SF hospital and that is where the Surgeon will be performing the surgeries in July. My surgeon is Dr. Cirangle. I will have exactly one month off before I have to get back in my classroom for the new school year. I am hopeful that I will feel totally fine by then.

It was an 800 calorie a day low carb, high protein diet through the nutritionist at the surgeons offices. It consisted of procal shakes, oatmeal, this chili and soups, kindof like a medifast/optifast thing.

Hi! I was approved by Aetna! Surgeon's office submitted on Thursday morning. Aetna told surgeon's office they authorized today. That seems fast to me! I did the 3 month multidisciplinary diet. I paid the fee to Dr. Cirangle ( huge fee that hopefully gets mostly reinbursed by Aetna) and then am waiting to schedule the surgery today or tomorrow. I am hoping to schedule it for the week of July 21st. That would give me a month to recover before going back to school( teacher). I leave for Mexico next week for a weeks vacation and then will have to do preop testing etc... Anne

Hi, For the three month diet they had me on an 800 cal a day diet- i weighed in monthly. I had curves print out a sheet of the days I exercised and the psych and nutritionist submitted a report to them as well. i talked weekly on the phone to the behavioral psych as well the last few weeks. good luck

Dr. Paul Cirangle of San Fransisco Laprascopic associates comes to Hawaii( I think to Oahu and Maui) monthly. Google their web site to find out more about it. He is my surgeon and is one of the best.

I'm hoping that having my curves owner print out montly my attendance log will suffice. Has anyone else had to prove the exercise? If the surgeon documents that you are exercising will that do it? That is one area I am a little unclear on. The insurance person at my dr office thinks the curves idea is a good plan for the 90 day diet. I am starting week 4 of the 3 month supervised diet and I have my first weigh in wed. I have lost about 13 pounds so far in 3 weeks on an 800 calorie a day diet. I feel pretty good. I have lost 21 pounds in 6 weeks altogether since starting to loose weight this go around.

I have to stop 1 month prior to avoid blood clots. It is for our own saftey. We have to do what we have to do. Good luck, maybe they will let you stay on it if you have a low chance of blood clots.

Jennifer, If you don't mind sharing, what did you have to do for your 3 month. I am on a 3 month 800 cal a day diet,.I meet with the surgeons office 2x a month to weigh and document. I am still trying to figure out what they will need to prove the exercise component and behavioral modification. I emailed my surgeon and the insurance at the office today to ask. I talk regularily with the dieticain and talked with the therapist the same day I had a consult. Anne

I'm wondering why alot of you are doing the 6month "diet" and not the 3 month surgical prep plan diet? Isnt it close to being the same? I am on week 3 of the 3 month diet. It is medically supervised by the surgeon. I go in 2x a month to be weighed and the nutritionist put me on an 800 cal a day diet( I guess that is part of the difference- its a "very low ca diet instead of low cal diet. I have to figure out though about how to prove the exercise part and the behavior mod- I emailed my surgeon and the insurance and the center today as I have been thinking about that. Anne

I have Aetna and I am going to be required to do the 3 month multi surgical prep diet before surgery. Has anyone done it? What type of diet were you put on? What about the exercise component? Will Curves count? How do the monitor the behavior specialist etc...Any info would be great. I have my consult next week. I hope to have the Lap band in June or July. Anne
