Anyone notice Post Banders are a bit snobbish?
plain replied to El Diablo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm sorry, but I don't speak to the pre-banded. -
Now now......let's be nice.
-
The book that helped my relationship the most was "Where the Wild Things Are". Sure, it's a little simplistic on the first read, but on closer inspection, it's very deep. I also highly recommend anything by Seuss, but especially "Green Eggs and Ham"

I'm sure Fanny and She can pipe in here, but my grandmother (also from oz) tells me that although koalas are cute, they can be mean. They don't like people to eff with them, and their claws are sharp!! !! It's peanut buttah jelly time !! BG, If I said I'd send ya a good vibe, you'd prolly sue me for sexual harrassment! What? I'm kidding.....I know that kind of job can be a pressure cooker with the possible changes in healthcare looming.

Sounds like you're doing great stacey!!
-
Hey, welcome to the site Hershey. Sounds like you are doing great! Keep it up!
-
Hey e. It's true....some people are less than happy with their bands. Personally, I love mine. The thing to do is to properly research all of the weightloss surgeries and pick out which one is the right one for you. Good luck whichever you choose!

excuse us gentlemen, a poll from the ladies
plain replied to want_so_bad's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well.....no offense to my lapband brotha bohica, but that's what I said on the women's board and got a chewing for it. Wow...so this is what vindication feels like, eh? lol. -
Lawmakers delay vote on bill charging obese employees more for healthcare
plain replied to BethFromVA's topic in Rants & Raves
Yes, I like the idea of rewarding healthy lifestyles too....it's just that I don't see a "great" way to do that. Plenty of unhealthy folks with normal BMI's, etc. How would YOU benchmark, tquad? -
Welcome aboard, CorporateMike! Feel free to lurk away!

Hello there, M7442n. Welcome to the club, lol. Good luck with the journey!

I know. My wife got me a teeshirt that says "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot". I love it! Yup. The economy sucks, don't it?

Lawmakers delay vote on bill charging obese employees more for healthcare
plain replied to BethFromVA's topic in Rants & Raves
Tip of the iceberg, my friend. The day is coming when weight (specifically BMI) will be regulated the same way smoking is. They'll point to the higher cost of communal healthcare as a way to justify this. In a way, I kind of understand it, but.....whatever happened to living in America? -
But that's not entirely true. The standard of care is to implant 2 (in rare cases 3) embryos. It's all good for her to say that she only expected 1 child out of all that, but if IVF ratios were that low, all fertility docs would be implanting 6 embryos. Because from what she's shared of her life, she's never been able to handle anything on her own. Her own parents express doubt. I think they probably know her better than we do. Wow, that's a pretty liberal view Patty. What if a woman has a child every year and openly confesses that she will never get a job, since the government will help pay. Does she still have the right to do that? Some would say "yes".....but I've never understood that point of view. Ok, I'll tell my kids that the next time they ask for school supplies. Seriously, word it however you like....kids need more than love.
-
Well.....not really. Not if you're getting food stamps or other government help. See, I think people ought to be allowed to have 50 kids (or more), as long as they don't need any tax money to support them. That's where I draw the line between personal choice and draining much needed resources from others. I think you're allowing your background of coming from a large family to color your judgement on the issue, Patty. Let's say there exists an obese person in Texarkana, Texas. All this person wants to do is eat. He eats so much that his grocery bill is $2000 / month. Is it fair that the government actually give him $2000 / month? Or is his insistance on taking government assistance greedy?
-
Maybe not crazy, but very selfish. No....She had 6 and wanted another 6....at least that was how many embryos she says she had implanted. And that is fantastic. I'm sure the lives of those children are the better for it. However, just because you could do it, doesn't mean that everybody can. It's kinda like a skinny person telling any one of us "Hey, I lost weight without weightloss surgery...anybody can do it". Hmmmmm...this is an interesting point. Does she have this right? Is it her fundamental right to have as many kids as she wants, even if the taxpayers are funding their care? Are you ok with the polygamous cults having 30 children and being on welfare (they do this purposefully....they call it "bleeding the beast")? Flawed arguement. You don't see any difference? Really? Maybe. There's a lot of college grads who are unemployed. Frankly, at this point, her name is "mudd"....who would hire her? And love is very important....but you can't survive on love alone. Kids need stuff too. School supplies, food, attention, clothes, time....all kinds of stuff. At some point, we all have to be realistic about our resources.

Newly banded in Richmond, VA
plain replied to bubblylauren's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Lauren. You might have better luck if you browse the "local support" section. It breaks things down by state, and then within each state are smaller sections. Give it a try!! I found a group from my dinky little town of Texarkana that way.... -
Contemplating lap band surgery
plain replied to basketsfornatalie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Natalie. Good for you to take control of your life. After your initial appointment and seminar, you'll have a better idea if the lapband is the weightloss surgery for you. Good luck!! -
who supports right to choose
plain replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's how I keep my sanity sometimes! -
If he's been as busy as me, then I feel sorry for him!! Hey, maybe his absence has something to do with his big "opportunity" from awhile back? Remember that? Or did it play out and I missed the result?

But yet you keep getting drawn back in.....If you are really as tired of reading her posts, why not just block / ignore her? -
Thing is, Marianne, once you start, it's difficult to stop....kinda like "crack", or "ballet"
-
Uh, you misspelled......I think you're supposed to spell it "a-w-e-s-o-m-e". Don't you use spell check?
-
Huh? Is this a "in general" post?
