Need some GOOD Direction!! At Restriction!!
plain replied to MollyAnne's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yup. Very common with quite a few of us. Don't forget that Breakfast is the most important meal (gets that metabolism up and running), so don't skip it. If you find that breakfast is difficult because of band tightness, try sipping some hot tea or coffee 30 mins (or however your doc wants) before you eat. Ok, I'm pretty radical on this point. We don't need a diet, per se. Diets fail. What you need is to eat healthy meals (plenty of lean Protein and vegatables) in bandster portions. Once you really get that scale moving, there's even room for the occasional treat! Take that, diets! lol Yes indeedy. Exercise is perhaps the MOST important aspect of having a band. Remember, cardio burns fat that's already on your body while resistance training builds lean muscle to pump up your metabolism. Click on mine. That'll take you to the tickerfactory. Then, follow directions from there regarding putting in your information. Once you have it like you want it, go to your "user CP" tab (for me, it's in the upper left hand corner directly underneath the pics of the people at the top of the home page), go to "edit signature" and cut and paste the tickerfactory into your signature. Sounds complicated, but it's not. Holler if you can't figure it out. Good luck! -
Is it bad that I want him to be jealous?
plain replied to keepingfaith08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I wouldn't drop him just because he wasn't attracted to you when you were heavier (heck, we all like what we like. You can't begrudge him that. Don't you have a type of guy you are more attracted to?). But I would drop him because he seems to be an immature ass. If his communication skills are limited to awkwardly turning around when he sees you and pretending he doesn't know you, then what could he really offer you anyway? -
I expect that of all my dates. And by "dates", I mean women I see in WalMart and follow home.

6th day on liquid diet and frustrated!
plain replied to kerrik54304's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, see, the weight is not the thing, per se. What will really decide if somebody gets the band or not is if they have significant fat deposits around their liver. A fatty liver can make it difficult (and more dangerous) to place the band. -
Surgery in 2 days! Day surgery???
plain replied to teachergirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery done on an outpatient basis (day surgery). I was not even the first one on the table that morning, and I was at my house by 2:00 PM. I had my surgery done on a Friday and was back at work by Tuesday......there's some discomfort, but I wouldn't really say it was "painful". Others may disagree, though. -
Yar, I guess you are. Maybe it's because you keep gobbling up all the innocent little lambies??

There wasn't a finger still attached to it, was there?

6th day on liquid diet and frustrated!
plain replied to kerrik54304's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, some docs are really strict and won't do the surgery if the patient hasn't lost enough weight.....and some are pretty flexable. Good luck! -

6 weeks post-op, first fill done...new to forum

Monkey, wise words, but....Get out of my head, lol. -
Hello there Kbaird. Congrats on your success so far. Was it your doctor that recommended the low-carb diet? Because, to me, the best part of being banded is being finished with gimmicky, hard-to-maintain diets (Adkins, South Beach, etc) and eating more balanced, healthier meals.....

Hi J Marie. First off, it's not exactly uncommon to lose weight very slowly (or, as in your case, to gain a little) until you begin the process of getting "fills", or having saline added to the ring portion of your band. Just hang in there, keep following your doc's diet, and exercise (exercise may be the singlemost important thing you can do to maximize your band experience) until you start feeling restriction. A "PB" (stands for productive burp) is when you bring back up part of what you've been eating. It most commonly happens when a bandster doesn't follow the rules (for example, eats too large of a bite, eats too fast, eats too much, etc). It is not quite like a full-fledged vomit, but it is unpleasant.

Hi Shanon. You might want to look in the "local support groups" section. That section breaks down folks by geographical location. Good luck!

Welcome aboard, h8. It sounds to me like you're too tight.

I'm not trying to "pile on" lapdancer, but Bryan could be right. I know 2 middle age guys at work that are gay (flamboyently gay, in fact) that recently go divorced from their wives (loooong term marriages. I think both of them had over 20 years in). Both of these men had children with their ex-wives, and both could not be more gay if they tried (not a criticism, just an example). So, ya know....maybe? I don't know very many men that NEVER think about sex (even the oldsters that can't / don't have it).

Well, to be honest, the beaches in Michigan would not be kind to me, genitally speaking. And mother nature has already wreaked much havoc anyway in that area (see the above "baby squirrel" post for clarification).

Ok, note to self: Don't wear the speedo again.
