So you can see better than most how wrong it is for Congress to go after those AIG bonuses.....because if they can go after them, they can go after yours. I could dig and get an exact number of companies that have taken TARP money, if you want an exact number. But Obama has lead the government in buying large shares of stock in finance (Bank of America, Citigroup, AIG,etc), the automobile industry (GM and Chrysler), housing (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), and life insurance (Hartford, Prudential, etc). Obama has so far fired one CEO - Richard Wagoner.

Agree. Republicans are sitting on their thumbs. When they criticize without having another option, they look like a bunch of asses. Well, I think that statements of dis-satisfaction are allowable, especially if one is unhappy with the direction the country is going. I happily agreed with the rights of the Bush bashers to express their opinions (even if I challenged the validity of said opinions, they sure had the right to say it. Heck, they're saying it even now, right BJean?). To offer emotional babble ("Obama is the antichrist!") is fruitless. Personally, my taxes weren't raised. I don't make enough money. But just because I don't fall into that bracket doesn't mean that I don't see the basic unfairness of bearing down on the rich. It was Obama's attorney general Eric Holder that said he and the president were mulling over certain gun control measures (specifically banning assault rifles.....BTW, I can provide links for all the stuff I post. If you want me to, just ask). Of course he doesn't want to get tough on illegal immigration. That would take away the votes of America's fastest-growing minority group. Although I will give Obama credit because I think he'll send some troops to police the border (not to "tighten up" the border, but because Mexican crime is out of control and seeping over the border)

Go with body paint. That'll always get some TV time.
-
Oh, I see now. Ok, gotcha.
-
That's right where ya want to be (IMO)!! Lose much more bodyfat and you won't look like a woman. Side note - I am repulsed by those ultra-lowfat women. They look more like "men with vaginas". Yup. I eat two moderately soft scrambled eggs for breakfast. Fills me up until the next meal. Then your trainer must have really known what they were doing with the pincers. It's the variance of the skill levels between different trainers that worries me. Vindication! At last! Even more vindication! Yea me! Oooh oooh!! Me too!! John Wraith, Maverick, Deadpool. Silver Fox. Those are just the ones I can name offhand. The movie looks super cool!! Yes, I'm a nerd. Sabretooth is my fave. When we were newly married, my wife got me a very expensive (uh, for us) autographed Sabretooth comicbook for Christmas. I hope they give his movie character a little nuance (unlike the previous X-Men movies, where he is reduced to a thug that grows a lot). Well, If you want to know, then I guess you should....but knowing the amount of fill you have is essentially worthless information.

In your original post, you made a big deal out of Bush calling it "shock and awe", even suggesting that it would have better been named "death and carnage" or something like that. My reply was that Bush had nothing to do with the name or the strategy (which is that of massively destroying the infrastructure of an enemy before land forced are deployed). And whether or not Bush thought it admirable or not is not important. Congress must have been ok with it too . They're the ones who really approved the bombings. BJean, we were at war with Iraq (HJ Res 114, passed Oct.16 2002 was the declaration). Look it up. Congress doesn't have to have a formal declaration to authorize military action (as with Korea, Vietnam, etc). I don't know where you're getting this "We weren't at war with Iraq" stuff. Only Congress can give the approval to invade another country and use military force. They did. You have often wrote and implied that Bush did all this by himself (or with that weird "secret group that was REALLY in power" stuff) when that is easily proven to be not true. I believe you used words that may be correct, but they are off the point that I was making. It's a clever tactic and one that many people use. Just like your compatriot, Beth, who goes all offensive instead of attemting to defend her stance. You know what they say: The best defense is a good offense. You all have learned that lesson well. Huh? For using a little sarcasm? How did skin color get into this? Are you suggesting that the foreign countries didn't back Obama's economic plan, or pledge any troops to Afghanistan because he's black? I don't understand this paragraph exactly.... Lu, I watched a lot of footage of his meetings and I never saw anything to suggest that world leaders wrote Obama off because he was black. And the "qualified vs. unqualified" thing is dead / moot (Even though that was the rally of the republicans) since Obama is the president now.

I'm going to my local party. I might be the only one there, but I'm going.

equal pay between the sexes
plain replied to Gone4Now's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think once the unions were useful, but that time has come and gone. -
But remember, it'll save money in the long run due to its "increased efficiency of costs". That was sarcasm, guys.

Awwww man.......*disappointed*

Hahahaha....my wife is 5'11......and she loves to wear heels. I'm moderately tall, so she doesn't get to my height in any of her heels, unless I'm barefoot.

I'm more a 3/4 cup type of guy, but I have been pretty conservative on my fills. For Breakfast, I eat either 2 moderately soft scrambled eggs, or 1 scrambled egg mixed in with 1 pack (1/2 cup) instant grits, or 2 packs (1 cup) of grits...depends on what's left in the pantry. I prefer the eggs, for the Protein punch, but if we're out or getting low, I'll supplement with grits. Even 2 packs of grits is under 200 cals and is very filling For the other small meals throughout the day, I will have a baked filet (tilapia or chicken breast) with 3/4 cup of vegatables.

I think you'll find I don't dodge. Unfortunately, I don't have much of a life, so I'm able to obsessively scour LBT. Yay me! Don't forget my favorite.....Bush Sr. puking on the prime minister of Japan. Totally Animal House!! *record scratch* Wait!! Congress authorized Bush to use military force "at any time and in any way he sees fit" on October 11 2002. The bombing didn't start until March 19 2003. So to recap....congress approved, Bush followed through. It wasn't like he invaded within 10 minutes of congressional approval. Except....Bush didn't coin the term "shock and awe". A dude named Harlan Ullman coined that military philosophy way back in 1996. Who was president in '96? I agree with you here. Foreign countries seem to loves them some Obama. Too bad they don't love him enough to commit to his economic plan, or to his plan to fight terrorism. But hey! At least now we're at the diplomatic table with Iran! Yesssssssss.......

Better pick up a Barry White CD.

Am i the only one having problems with this diet plan???
plain replied to ms.brimw's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well ms, for me... there was no way to really do it but to "suck it up and carry on". I did find that the higher content protein shakes seemed to help me feel more full, though. I know it sucks, but remember, the preop diet is really for your safety (to shrink the fat deposits around the liver, thereby minimizing the risk of a tear). Good luck, and hand in there. -
Hi there Lilly. Even though you are an admitted "lurker", I guess I can still welcome you aboard, so......welcome to lapbandtalk!! Now it's official!! You are dead on about the people here. Many are brave and wise and will help you tremendously (some, like me, are neither brave, friendly or wise, lol). Good luck!
