It is exactly the truth!! Ok, I'll make this extremely easy for you, BJean, since you are not getting my point: Google (or use your own favorite search engine) Public Law No. 107-243 and see what comes up. Or just click this anti-war link: http://www.believersagainstthewar.com/HJ114_text.html Be sure and read section 3, where it states that this law (public law No. 107-243) is consistant with the war powers act. Now, look up that law anywhere you want, and tell me how congress didn't vote to go to war with Iraq. It doesn't matter what Ron Paul or anybody else said. The constitution was certainly not tossed to the side. How could it have been? Congress voted. Period. That's how the constitution works, BJean. No, I'm serious. You've mentioned the term "shock and awe" in almost every post directed to me. I'm still trying to figure it out. Is your problem with the name of the strategy, or the fact that Bush decided to use said strategy? Please clarify.

Ok, for now, just relax. Everybody is different......so it's very difficult to "compare" pain with somebody else. As for the vomiting, it's true that it should be kept to a minimum. My doc went to great lengths to ensure this (preop scopolimine patch, and liquid phenergan post op), but apparently your doc has their own plan. The thing to do is to check in with your surgeon if you have any concerns / questions. Is it possible the thing you're feeling in your stomach is actually your port?

Done! Good luck....no, make that GREAT luck!!

Hi talks, welcome to lapbandtalk. I had a fairly vigorous list of preop conditions that had to be done. I think, by and large, that it was a good thing, because it gave me the chance to ask a lot of questions every step of the way. Good luck on the quitting smoking! Good luck!

Hey Pang, try the "12 step support groups" section on the main page. I think you'll get more feedback there.

Hey beauty, I can totally relate to the mixed up emotions that you're going through right now. Here's hoping that your approval period goes really smoothly. Good luck! -
Hey Malz, the new fill situation sucks!! However, you have had tremendous success so far. You are kicking ass.....so don't up. Time to get started again. Have you ever attempted the 5 day "pouch" test? That might be a good start to help you re-find the amount you should be eating. So, eat good food in the right portions, and don't forget to exercise, exercise, exercise!!! You can do it!!

plain replied to mamababcock's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Nicole, welcome to lapbandtalk. There are a lot of cool and knowledgable people on here that you need to get to know, so start reading and snooping around, lol. I have my fingers crossed that the whole approval process goes smoothly for you! -
Hi trisha ann. Welcome to lapbandtalk! No matter what pre-op we have to go on, they all have one thing in common: They suck, lol. Hang in there......the pre-op diet is really for your safety. You can do it!!

Hi kuuipo, welcome to lapbandtalk. I'm glad that you're happy with your band. Good luck!

Ooops.....mea culpa! I didn't look at her age. I was still wearing footy pajamas and drinking warm milk @ 19. I won't even go into how my mom used to take my temp....

I consider myself to be more libertarian than anything, in that the government should only be here for our protection (physically, and yes, in some cases.....economically). For the most part, I believe that society would flourish with waaaaaaaaay less government intrusion. That's cool and all, but with the two party system today, the government has ensured that no independant parties will ever have a viable candidate......so you pretty much have to do what I do: Register independant and vote on who you think will do the best for each race.

Nudity (especially Julianne Moore - sp?) is ok. Dudity (male nudity) should be used sparingly. Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a good primer on the acceptable use of dude-ity.

As cruel as it sounds, we can't always help the terminally stupid. I get that the poster got some bad advice, but a little common sense goes a long way here. No liquids = bad. Very bad. Who doesn't know that? Going in complaining about a possible "slip" is the worst thing one could do. It prejudices the doc's opinion. Blue Monkey should have said that she couldn't keep down any fluid and was worried about dehydration.....especially as it sounds (in my unqualified opinion) that she has a GI bleed going on somewhere. Exactly. I understand....and if you want to know all the details, then you should. I think the danger in knowing fill levels is that some people (not you, obviously) may think "it took Jane Doe 7ccs to get to restriction, so I can't possibly be feeling tight at only 5ccs". Well you ARE eating for two (or more....heehee.....I like the sound of "The OctoHeather"...)

Anyone going to your town's Tax Day Tea Party tomorrow?
plain replied to TerriDoodle's topic in Rants & Raves
I think the liberals would LOVE to make this all about race, as it detracts from the message of the protests (namely, that congress has got to reign in the spending in general, and earmarks specifically). That's also the reason some left wing bloggers are trying to brand the mostly average Americans that attend as part of the "fringe". -
I don't see the distinction. No matter how you slice it, Congress voted to use military force in Iraq. Using your argument, did the presidents manipulate congress into okaying military force in Korea or Vietnam? Because it was the exact same kind of informal declaration that allowed the invasion of Iraq. I'm sure they are sorry. But regret is a totally different issue than "did Bush bomb Iraq on his own". Congress voted to bomb. And congress has access to the same intelligence that Bush does. They knew exactly what they were voting on. If congress was not involved, how come there's a record of exactly who voted whether or not to use military force? No matter your personal feelings on this, congress approved the invasion....Bush did not act alone. It was the name of the strategy developed when Clinton was president. If it had been named "Fat Boy", would you object to Bush saying it over and over? I believe most of us should pay taxes (there are some fixed income situations I think should be tax exempt). And I don't believe in giving the wealthy tax breaks.....but they're in the highest bracket right now. How is that a tax break? Do you mean its a break from what they USED to pay? If you say that it makes sense because it will benefit the economy for the rich folks to get richer, that has been proven to be totally ineffective in helping most Americans. Furthermore, the proposed increase in taxes for the wealthiest Americans is a rate that is still less than what they paid under President Reagan. The propaganda that is being put out that rich folks are being taken advantage of and gouged is B.S. And if you believe that taxes are necessary, then you should understand that the proposed tax increase for the top very small percentage of Americans is exactly what is fair to mainstream Americans. The rich folks have for some time now had practically a free ride. We simply don't agree. Crippling tax rates will eventually drive the wealthy (and their businesses) overseas, further hurting our economy. I don't know any really wealthy folks personally. But I still think its unjust and un-American to redistribute their wealth (even though I dont have to personally worry about it happening to me). The powers and laws that you're talking about were built into the constitution. At no time in American history has a single person been allowed to make the decision to go to war.

I'm not sure about the VSG. Maybe you would get more responses if you asked this question specifically in the VSG section on the homepage? Good luck! -
Don't need to do the pre-op diet?
plain replied to Pangaeus's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Pang. All I can say is that there is a lot of variation between doctors' instructions. Seems like everybody has a different approach, lol. -
Hi mother, welcome to lapbandtalk. There are a lot of articles for you read and a lot of people to chat with. Good luck!

Hey umgirl, welcome to lapbandtalk. My experience with the band was that it involved very little pain (others will disagree, though). I was back at work within 4 days. Good luck!

Hello from Quiche from Los Angeles, CA
plain replied to Paradigm Star's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Quiche! Welcome to lapbandtalk. I'm a little confused. What information do you need exactly to make an "informed decision"? If you ask very specific questions, I think you'll find that folks here will try their best to answer them (either we're a friendly lot, or a bunch of know-it-alls. You make the call, lol). -
Hey rafter, welcome to lapbandtalk. It's normal to be nervous going into any surgery. In the meantime, there's a lot of info for you to read on here, and a lot of people to chat up. Good luck!

Looking for others with surgery April 30
plain replied to fattyfatty2by4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there fatty. If you look on the home page, there is a section titled "monthly support" or something like that. There you can go to the "April" section. Hopefully you can find a band buddy. Good luck! -
Actually there is. I worked dilligently with congress to establish "Plain's law". This much-needed legislation would make it a misdemeanor to engage in any exercise that would make me look lazy. Sorry BG and Mac.
