Well actually, there is really no evidence that God didn't write the Bible. I mean....push come to shove, it's a matter of faith. You either believe that the document is an inspired document, or not. There is no proof strong enough to convert an unbeliever, or to dissuade a true believer. I wonder.....would you tell the same thing to a Jew that believed the Torah was dictated by God? Or a Muslim that believed the Qur'an was dictated by Gabriel?

Lapbandtalk Cruise 2007!!! Official Sign Up And News
plain replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How in the hell did a poll RE: a 2007 cruise get bumped today?!? -
Oh, I live closer to you than that. I reside in the metropolis of Douglassville. You know you like it.... She's a little too "muscle-y" for me (I know, y'all really care, right....lol). I find it fascinating.....the difference between what men find physically attractive and what women THINK men would find physically attractive.

That's your only quirk.......riiiiiiiiiiight I had this conversation with LuluC the other day (sea-ment pond) and she fessed up that she didn't watch BH!! WTH is wrong with you non-hillbilly watching people?!? Me too, except on my FB page you can see me applying Valtrex to my warts.

That's true. Personally, I don't get the whole "Larry the Cable Guy" thing. I don't think he's funny....but he sure cashes a great big ol' check at the "unfunny" bank every week!!

What? Me? I know. But my point is, if you want to be known as a tolerant person, mocking somebody else's religion is prolly not a good strategy.......especially when the core beliefs are pretty close. Example: Joe - I believe that some of the Bible is literally true. Fred - I believe all of it is literally true. Joe - You're a fool. I could not agree more. It's human nature to create a us / them division.

Damn you and your sage wisdom, Monkey!!!! -
That sucks, Fanny....but maybe something better is coming down the pipe. PJTP: Is PJTP finally slowing down, after a jaw-dropping 12,417 posts (most of them were made JUST to post)?

Ok ladies, we can let her comment die a natural death and re-focus on Tina's amazing progress, right?

Er.....you had me until you mentioned "Ellen". Here's a little trivial fact: Ellen Degeneres spent her senior year at the same little po-dunk high school that I attended (not at the same time), in Atlanta, Texas. I know this to be true in my case. What other reason would a lady turn down my drunken proposition? GOTTA be gay....

Heeheeheehee Nancy, I was going to ask you this, but I didn't want you to think I was picking on ya (and also it's none of my business, but I'm curious)......but after the quiz: Was your daughter born a pansexual, or is it something she realized later in life?

Pre-Op Chest Xray??????
plain replied to darthcandy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi darth. It has to do with anesthesia. While you're under, you'll have a breathing tube inserted that will be doing the "breathing" for you. A CXR can tell if a patient might have a restrictive or obstructive lung disease. This information allows anesthesia to make corrections on how they'll deliver the air to your lungs. Am I making any sense, or just babbling? -
What about Bisexuality, Amy? Choice or born that way?

43% Pay NO Federal Income Tax - ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
plain replied to TerriDoodle's topic in Rants & Raves
Companies have "outsourced" jobs to increase profitability (like you said) already. Obama's plan would impose stiff tax penalties for companies that do that. But the question is, if you were the CEO, what would you do? 1)Take a cut in profits by re-hiring Americans ADDED to the cut in profit you're going to take because of the tax increases on corporations. 2) Take a cut in profits via tax penalties because you continue to outsource ADDED to the cut in profit from regular tax increases. or 3) Move the whole damn operation to India, where you can push your profits through the roof and pay minimal taxes. Of those choices, I can guess what most companies will do, even if it means transplanting even more American jobs overseas. -
Hi band. I'm probably ignite a firestorm and get lots of angry PM's, but I'll tell you what I think: The band doesn't do much for emotional eating. The band is a fantastic tool for helping us to feel more satisfied with less food; However, the real power of the band is that it helps re-train us on how much of a portion size we should be eating. It is entirely possible to still overeat with the band. The band doesn't make you eat healthy food. The band doesn't make you exercise. There are some things you HAVE to do for yourself if you want to be successful with your band. Remember, if you're in doubt, then it's probably better to hold off, for now. This is one of those things where you want to err on the side of caution.

Hey Tea! Congrats on getting a date set. You're on your way!! Good luck!

62?!? Damn, that's COLD!! My ideal temp would hover around 82 with a pleasant breeze. High 80's is approaching hot very quickly, and anything below 60 is approaching cold very quickly.

43% Pay NO Federal Income Tax - ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
plain replied to TerriDoodle's topic in Rants & Raves
Of course not. They ARE greedy bastards, no matter what side of the issue you take. Actually, I think he'll incentivize big business to take their entire operations overseas, leading to more unemployment here. But hey, Big mama government will take care of all those jobless folks, right? -
I'm not really Obama's biggest cheerleader, but....I didn't think it was that funny.

Sounds to me like they drained a great deal of fluid out too fast, and it screwed with your blood pressure a little. Also sounds like the stand in is kind of a dumb-ass (just my opinion). Ok well, take it PM if y'all need to bicker. Let's get things back on track in this thread by all agreeing how hot Tina looks. Tina, I looked at your "after" pics and I can't stand up just yet.....*wiggles eyebrows* Nothing gets a thread back on track like sexual innuendo!! Zing!!

I believe the entire Bible is inspired by God, not actually physically written by his hand. I do believe that God came down and spoke to a few chosen people......others were more indirectly inspired. Now, me personally, I don't believe the entire Bible is literally true. I think a great deal of it is literally true (I believe in the miracles, the gospels, etc), but some of it is more metaphorical (the parables that Jesus told, the book of Revelation, the story of creation, stuff like that). But.....even though I don't believe the entire Bible is literally true, I would never go so far to call somebody that does "a fool". Mocking somebody for their religious belief is about as closed-minded, judgemental, and mean-spirited as it gets (IMO). I don't believe the communion wafers literally turn into the flesh of Christ, nor the wine into blood, but I don't call Catholics "fools". I don't believe that eating certain shellfish makes one unclean, but I wouldn't call the Jews "fools". I don't personally believe that dogs are filthy beasts and shouldn't be allowed into the home, but I don't call Muslims "fools". So....you know, whatever. I think it's ironic that you'd call Patty harsh in her views, then proceed to mock somebody over a pretty trivial detail. Ok, Starting to dig.....NOW!

ok going to ask pizza and pasta
plain replied to sandi1011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will occasionally eat a slice of pizza. As many have previously mentioned, it helps if the crust is very thin and crunchy. Pasta......hmmmmm...I very rarely eat pasta. I can tolerate it if it is whole wheat and a little undercooked....but I would rather spend my meals eating better stuff. My personal rule (and it's worked out well for me) is get the Protein in first. -
