This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

A bedpan in his car? Really? I wounder how many people I see in traffic every day are really sitting (and sh*tting) on bedpans while driving? Makes ya wonder. And I'm just gonna throw this out there.....before I had a WLS that required me to buy a minivan (and customize the back to have my own mobile bathroom), I'd opt for the other weight loss program: The Hemingway Solution. -

Mac, I know I'm kinda picky about this, but have you noticed that the "studies" they often cite rarely have the specs stated? The alpha, power, 95% CI, etc. Whenever I read a so-called "peer-reviewed study" I like to know the details, so I can judge for myself how impartial it may be. -
SNT, I always know if a PB is coming. It feels like I swallowed a cinderblock, my eyes start watering and my nose starts running. Pleasant picture, huh? Luckily, the learning curve on what your band "likes" is pretty steep.

So, I know this is passe', but damn! I was playing around with a BMI calculator earlier, and found that if I lose down to my "ballpark" goal of 250, I will still be obese! I'm 6'4", and have a powerlifter build (this won't mean much to the ladies, but the guys will know what I'm talking about). I struggled early on with setting a "target weight", because I have no idea. My tangible goal is to get down to a heart-healthy waist size (bout 34). The skinnest I have ever been in my adult life was 225. I was 17 yrs old and playing football. When I was 225, my ribs were prominent. Too thin for my tastes, when I look back on old photos. Subsequent years resulted in gained weight, but some was still muscle (as evidenced by ability to lift more and more weight). The depressing part is, for me to get to a "normal" BMI, I need to get down to 205. That's right, 20 lbs less than my weight in high school. Sheesh! I know the subject of BMI has been bandied about recently, so I don't expect a lively debate.....just needed to rant. (Am I turning into a chick?!? LOL)

I respect your right to an opinion...but go have it somewhere else.

RSG, you are clearly unaware of the lying lesbian terrorists (they refer to themselves as the "LLT's"). Watch out for them. -
On the contrary, thanks for resurrecting this ancient thread....and thanks even more for your "goofball" designation, as it is very apt. When my oldest boy was around 10, we decided to visit another church. His advice to me: "Uh, dad...at church, you might want to tone it down some". I did. But enough of that painful flashback. Your bro is 6'5 and 170?!? Wow...I could never, ever achieve that (and I'm not talking about growing the extra inch, smarty).

SNT, I'm sorry you're bothered by my creepy starings....but honestly, when I'm watching you in the company caff, and my hand is moving around in my front pocket, I'm merely looking for loose change. What'd you think I was doing? *laughs crazily*

This just confirms my theory that DS'ers are, in general, a bunch o' crazy bastards... -
Posting to say.....Big Macs? Really? For the protein? I just love how, when somebody gives a dose of common sense to one of these idiots, they use the old fall back line "If I could control what I ate, I wouldn't need the band, would I". Wow. If I could control the voices in my head, I wouldn't need the shock therapy, would I?

Poll - Democrat or Republican?

Hey, thanks for spouting liberal propaganda. That clears up soooooo much. -
Hey, gig 'em....Great job. On the restriction thing, you are absolutely dead on. It takes a while before you get real restriction (and it is best to go slow). You're relying on willpower right now for a bit, but that will gradually change. On the suture thing, I had a bit of suture sticking out from my incision. It will eventually dissolve, just be patient (or at least, mine did).

Here's my pet peeve du jour.....I was watching the news tonight and saw no less than 3 politicians use the phrase "Let's be clear". The really bad thing is that when a pol prefaces some point in the speech with "Let's Be Clear" (they ennunciate it like each word is capitalized), what follows is anything but clear. Kinda like when some unsavory used-car salesman begins his pitch with "Honestly...."

Swimsuit pictures!!! For all you daring bandters

Hi ready. there is a ton of info on this site. Try peeking in the specific forums, or just using the search function. Good luck!

That's great, ladi! Sounds like you are well on your way. Good luck, and let us know how it's going!

Well, it's true that some docs are waaaaaay more conservative on when you can eat certain consistencies of food. There is still a lot of individual differences, though. If that's how your doc wants to proceed.....he's the doc. I assume, though, that he's had some experience with the band?

I'm posting too.....but not just to post! This message has a purpose!!

10 liters is about 20 lbs of water! Yikes!

Just for Fun ... Describe yourself to me!
plain replied to serenity55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Debbi, what a fun thread! Describe yourself ASAP, and then when we see your pics, we can see how accurate your description is! As for myself....I am tall and broad. I am muscular, with a nice fat "suit" overlay. I have dark brown hair and dark greenish eyes. I am currently growing out a goatee, but due to the amount of Native American blood, it's a constant struggle (My body hair is so sparce that friends joke about my shaving my legs and underarms.....The sad thing is, I don't). Despite my unusually thick southern accent, I'm pretty smart. I read voraciously...almost compulsively. I am equal parts cynical and optimistic, and I have a very weird sense of humor. Ok, that's my description....Next! -
thanks aivey, you too! I hope your husband gets on board with the band as well. Good luck!

Ugh....healthcare. I work in a hospital, and believe me.....all hospitals live by the insurance reimbursement and die by it, as well. The idea of possibly socializing our healthcare system makes me verrrrrrrrrry nervous indeed!

SNT, turn on that syrupy sweet Ga drawl when you go to Chicago. It freaks people out!

Dear Ricky R, Why do you insist on keeping your wife down? Is it a cultural thing? I think her red hair is lovely, and that she would do a great job in your club.....if you'd just give her the chance. I think it is beyond insulting that you both sleep in seperate beds, and I know for a fact that you sometimes make her cry. I guess the worst part is, although I have come to love Lucy, you don't seem to "get" her at all. Does she really have a lot of 'splaining to do, Ricky? Really? Because I understand her pretty well. Signed, a concerned viewer PS - Your version of Babaloo really stinks!

In cases of Ex usage, and sports players, the culprit is usually not the amount of water, per se, but that the individual has lost a lot of electrolytes through profuse sweating (usually sodium, but also potassium). Then when the person drinks water, the concentration of electrolytes is further diluted. Too little potassium can cause muscle cramps....and since the heart is basically a big ol' muscle......poof!
