Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
plain replied to Daisalana's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Universal healthcare is a beautiful theory. In actuality, it would leave our current healthcare system in flaming ruins. The words "Pearl Harbor" come to mind. IndioGirl, your insurance premiums have likely gone up because the cost of providing that benefit has increased for your company (thus the influx of stuff like companies making employees quit smoking, lose weight, quit drinking, etc. It's the only way they can afford to provide insurance). Now think of what will happen if the government mandates that all business owners must provide (even limited) insurance bennies (Obama already wants to raise taxes for businesses).....costs for the goods / services those business supply will go through the roof. Also, If you don't have any personal experience, go and visit any VA (veteran, not Virginia...lol) hospital. Those places are a trainwreck compaired to a hospital in the private sector. Having rambled on and on about this, I agree that in an ideal world, everybody should have insurance....but we're not ready to tackle that quite yet. IMO, a good first step would be to close the loophole so that everybody with a steady job would be able to get some sort of government subsidity for insurance. -

Uh, aren't you around waist size 32/34? That's not much of a spare tire unless you're 4'7"....Also, If you're dead set on trying for the six pack, you'll probably have to radically change your diet (almost zero fat intake) and bump the cardio waaaaay up. You'll need to get around 3-4% body fat before you'll be able to get that ripped 6 pack look. Genetics plays a part as well. Not everybody has those well-defined ab muscles (even some bodybuilders).

ATD, I think I've posted this before, but I swear I read a study that claimed that a percentage (the majority, I believe) of women didn't have a "G Spot".....and that may be the reason some women have difficulty reaching orgasm through penetration. If you want me to look around for it, I will (the study, I mean. Not the G Spot). lol

Hang in there PR. Great to hear that you're getting back into the swing of things. I'm sure we all have bad weeks....the thing is to step it right back up when the party is over.

I don't know if they would or not. As it is, the dems haven't really been attacking, as far as I can tell. The media has been ravaneous.....but we should expect that. -

Are We ready for a Black President?
plain replied to TheWatcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nope. Doesn't work. Conservatives (by that I mean, uh, me) only care about out-of-wedlock births when the tax dollar has to support the mother/ child. Having said that, I'm not jazzed about Palin as a VP pick. Personally, I think McCain just threw away the election. I'd have loved to see Romney (with his strength in economics and business) or somebody with impressive energy credentials. PS- I'm a free thinker, registered independant who doesn't swallow whole what Obama is saying, either. The election just got a whole lot more "lesser of two evils" for me. I think I'm still voting energy. -
Uh, congradulations, and I'm sorry? lol

I know the waiting can be rough, peach. Hang in there. -
Oh, you'd like to know that, wouldn't you, Mac.....Well I'm not telling. It's what makes me a dark mysterious type.

Are We ready for a Black President?
plain replied to TheWatcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh, I'm not ruling out McCain or the republicans yet. Here is the heart of the matter, BJean (IMO)...Wealth didn't draw me to the Republican party (heck, I'm a registered independent), although I have voted republican 3 of the last 5 elections. To me, it's the basic theory of government. Republicans generally believe in less federal government and more states' rights (Democrats the opposite). Because republicans generally believe in less government regulation, some wealthy business types that benefit from less regulation support them. That (and certain economic theories, ie trickle down) have led to the perception that the republican party is for "the rich". By and large, the democrats want to support a lot of worthwhile populations and programs. That's fantastic....but they (generally) want to raise taxes to pay for these programs. Example (an extreme one, I'll concede): I'm a little reluctant to think that my tax dollars in Texas might go to pay for a sex change operation for some dude in California. Note I'm not saying that I don't want the dude to get the operation....I'm saying I don't want to pay for it. Now if the citizens of California vote to pay for such a surgery for their citizens, I'm cool with that. I believe that the less power and intrusion the government has into our lives, the better (in theory, I'm really more of a libertarian, but our current two party system has killed every other ideaology). Having said that, I might very well vote democrat. I haven't decided yet. If I do vote democrat, it won't be because I'm not rich, or because I have a grudge against Bush or his administration, but because we desperately need to bite the bullet now and change our dependence on foreign oil by 10 years time. Sorry for the novel-length post...can you tell I'm a bit bored at work? lol -
Probably. A lot of what you'll be able to eat varies from person to person. I myself can eat almost anything, as long as I take teeny tiny bites and eat slowly....Having said that, doughy foods are the most likely to give me problems. Only through trial and error will you be able to find out what you can and cannot tolerate. Just pick healthier foods, take small bites, eat slowly, don't drink with meals, and quit eating when you are no longer hungry...these are the "golden rules" of the lapband.

Update to my previous post: Because I'm an IMDB nerd, I looked up some info...First, I misspelled. The show (and character's name) was Enos, not Ennis. Second, the catchphrase was "Grits and greens ride again". Sadly, I am the loser you think I am.

Absolutely. A little competition is never a bad thing. I think you're absolutely right about you being the good friend because you've always been "safe". I have a lot of "safe" female friends myself. Probably your weightloss caused him to see you as an attractive woman, not just as a friend, and he's struggling to sort out how that makes him feel. So, because I'm nosy (and everybody else keeping up with this wants to know....c'mon, fess up people.....y'all want to know), how was the sex with him? Did you two generate any real chemistry??
