Anyone starting weight at 200 lbs? Help :)
bananabellyaches replied to asolanom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I weighed 212 the day of surgery. Three & half months out weighed in at 178. Size 16 to size 12. First 2 months are not easy as with any surgery - you need time to heal. I'm averaging 2.5lbs a week loss. To tell you the truth losing too fast would would make me worried about loose skin, hair loss & clothing purchases. I'm pleased with my weight loss - losing over 30lbs feels great! My personal goal is to loose 52lbs, wear a size 10 & to maintain it. I've never wanted to be skinny - just a healthier BMI. Low BMI Questions

My BMI was 35 day of surgery on April 4th, 2016. Immediately after surgery gas pain was intense (felt like a heart attack) they drugged me up good to knock me out for awhile because I was frantic over it & dropping the F-bomb quite frequently & loudly. Next four weeks were hard with pulling pain from incision & the liquid diet but nausea was minimal & I never threw up. Weight loss was sloooooww.. My body was in survival mode till I gave it real food & basically refused to give up any lbs until I fed it real meat. At 4 week check up I had only lost 12lbs. Once I started eating meals (mini meals) & exercising a steady 2.5 lbs per week came off. I'm 3 1/2 months out now & feeling great! I can eat pretty much anything in small doses but white meat chicken makes me feel stuffed to the rim - so I avoid it. First 6 weeks is "just rough" like after any surgery. I've always liked having a cold glass of Water next me at all times so hydration has not been difficult but at my 2 month check-up my Iron was low so now I take extra iron pills. The only thing I have thrown back up to date has been an iron pill - just yuck. I have stalls frequently - and then bam! 4 lbs off in one day. But if you track your weight with an app you will see over time it's actually a consistent amount. I had buyers remorse for the first few weeks & then again when my iron was low (felt dreadfully tired) but at 3.5 months I felt pretty great. I've gone from a size 16 to a size 12 and down 33lbs I eat delicious foods but now only in small bites - even enjoyed a glass of wine every evening on vacation last week with no issues. Lonely in Sleeveland

Hi Ginger, I had gastric sleeve surgery on April 4th with Dr. Nicholson. I'm also a professor & my weight on surgery day was 212. Yep, my hubby too asks very few questions - he says very little about the whole thing. I do have a cousin who had the sleeve 4 years ago & I've met a few sleeved ladies - but most of my friends are shocked when I tell them. Planning on attending the next support group meeting in May @ Baylor. Maybe I'll see you there. So far I've lost 12lbs - but I just started on mushy foods, think my body was in survival mode on all liquids. Have an awful stabbing burning pain left of my belly button but the Docs office keeps reassuring me it's the double stitch they put it to prevent a hernia. April 6 surgeries

I was sleeved April 4th & today is the first day I could have soft food. This morning tried 2 bites of cottage cheese & one bite of yogurt. Stomach made a lot of noises - but feel ok. First 2 weeks was Clear Liquids, 3rd week was liquids that run easily thru a strainer. I made homemade black bean Soup & put it thru the blender. Hands down best thing I've tried besides Campbell's soup on the go (not allowed tomato soup). Also, tried a frozen Greek yogurt bar last night & had no problems. Planning on trying a few bites of egg for lunch. Premier Protein chocolate shakes are the only ones I'm interested in now. Liked the strawberry & vanilla first 2 weeks, but now I'm sick of them. All other Protein Shakes just turn me off now. Shakes I used to drink regularly before surgery now are hard to get down. I do drink a whey "Nectar" drink in tropical flavor with my powdered bariatric Vitamins in it & it's ok for 24g of protein. I add spoonful of Isopure non- flavored protein to my soup & coffee (mix it w/bit Water first). G2 & Powerade zero taste delicious to me right now. So I drink quite a few ice cold drinks & my Fluid intake is very good. MyraLax is a must for me every day too. Painful spot next to my belly button that burns with a sharp pain! Drives me nuts cause I'm wanting to physically do so many things. Doc's office said its where they put extra stitch to prevent hernias. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
