    Questions

2 questions : On such a reduced caloric intake, how do you have enough energy after surgery? I mostly see people say they have MORE energy, but curious how. Why do they reduce your stomach so drastically? Anyone know why not 50% for example? Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

    Cheating with post op diet

I have 3 little ones too and worry about this. I've started asking my husband and parents to commit to taking the lead on feeding and cooking for them in the first month. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

  4. I'm an emotional up and down eater too and I've wondered if now is right. Which comes first, the surgery or controlling the emotional eating? I'm such a black and white person, it's helped me to think of surgery as a rebirth. A chance to shift my life and the death of other habits and thought patterns. I understand the desire to be "selfish", but it's really not. Self care is critical to life. I'd recommend getting your sister and friend on board, no matter how vulnerable it makes you. You need a team. And I am so sorry about your child. I couldn't not say that. I can't fathom the loss and I applaud your steps forward in life while grieving. 6. I'm struggling to not eat all the things in these weeks pre-surgery. I don't have my date yet, but probably some time in May. My surgeon didn't require any weight loss pre-surgery and I almost wish he had. Anyone experience this? It's like I'm saying goodbye to large quantities! Help! 7. I'm the same. I'm convinced I'm the oddball case who it won't work for. I'm trying to be extremely honest with myself about my good habits now so that I can not lie to myself about my food habits afterwards. Rebirth! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  8. I love this post! I've been keeping a list actually. 1. Take a surfing lesson 2. Take a dance class. 3. Go paddle boarding in hawaii. 4. Shop with girlfriends 5. Not feel like my belly has a life of its own! Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
  9. I'm private pay too. $18500 all inclusive (excluding complications and only 3 mos follow up). I just need to get my PCP to refer for the endoscopy or that adds another chunk. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

    To "Bypass" or to "Sleeve"?

Similar circumstances for me. I'm healthy and relatively young. I went in assuming sleeve because it was what I saw more online and I was trying to tell myself it was "less severe" (as a coping mechanism perhaps). My Dr. Said both would be fine but recommended bypass. 1. It's a bit higher for % of weight loss. 2. I like that there is more history on success rates. 3. I like that my parts are all still in there, just in case... 4. He called it the better "long term solution". Bottom line for me, I think it's more tested and it gives me a bit more confidence since I have young kids and I need to feel safe. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
