  1. Has anyone ever had tooth loss after having the sleeve? Sent from my SM-T330NU using the BariatricPal App
  2. I hope to have VSG soon. One last appointment for insurance. I think if people ask me when I am going to stop losing weight I'll tell them I'm trying to get to my birth weight. Hahaha

    First lie!

I hope to have surgery in November. I don't feel like lying forever so if someone asks I'm just going to say it's personal. I figure most people won't ask again.
  4. I am in my 6th month for my insurance requirement and I have only told my husband, kids and sister. In six months my sister has never asked me about the surgery. I told her the other day to speak now or forever hold your peace. She said one word "nervous?" Literally one word in a half a year. I don't want to hear a thing after the surgery. I'm not even going to tell her my surgery date when I have one. I'm glad my husband is supportive because I've got no support there.
  5. How about "well enough about my weight, let's talk about yours"
  6. I'm in the six month period for my insurance and I feel like I just suck at keeping on track. Anyone else do terrible during the waiting period and then be successful with the sleeve? If I could do this by myself I wouldn't be trying to have surgery. How do I stay on track during this long wait?
  7. Oh my gosh, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I read people's posts and they all seem so positive and it seems like it's so easy for them. If it was easy for me I wouldn't be fat. Time is just dragging and I keep thinking if I could have had the surgery months ago I would already be a smaller person. But I can't do anything about that so I just have to wait.
  8. My doctor flat out told me that if I lost more than 24 pounds during my six month period I would be denied by my insurance. I've lost 6 so far.
  9. My husband and I went on a camping trip several weeks ago. I was unfortunate enough to contract lyme disease and fortunate enough to have caught it early enough to hope for a full recovery. Does anyone have any information about lyme disease and wls? I am pre op hoping to get approved and have surgery this fall.
  10. I can go ahead with the surgery despite the Lyme disease
  11. Will I still be able to have the sleeve surgery if they find I have gastritis when I have my scope?

    Pre op gastritis

Thanks for the replies. I'm having s flare up and have to have my scope soon. Looking at surgery for October or November and hope to be healed by then. I have also had esophagitis. Have you ever had back pain with it? I'm feeling pretty crappy. My own fault. Been drinking way too much Diet Coke and it always ends up with some kind of stomach or esophagus pain.
  13. Waiting for half a year for surgery is crazy. If I could diet for a half a year by myself I wouldn't being trying to get approved for surgery. I'm having a terrible time sticking to 1500 calories or less with 90 grams of protein. How did anyone else do during the wait? Were you able to stick to the plan you were given?
  14. If the sleeve is a relatively new procedure (one that I am hoping to have) why do I remember the phrase stomach stapling from years and years ago? Does anyone else remember that phrase?

    People and their big mouths

I'm going to have to steal that line a few times in my life. ☺ Sent from my SM-T330NU using the BariatricPal App
  16. My problem is my metabolism is so messed up from yoyo dieting I don't even lose weight anymore. So I have no motivation from the scale. In 3 months I have lost a pound and gained a pound and a half. I can eat 1500 calories or 2000 calories and there is no difference on the scale. I have to use my fitness pal and print my food diaries. It is difficult sometimes to keep my eye on the prize when nothing is happening Sent from my SM-T330NU using the BariatricPal App
  17. So glad I read these posts and learn that I am not the only one with unsupportive family members. I am pre op and in the 6 months wait required by my insurance company. My husband is very supportive and the only other person I told outside my husband and kids is my sister. She did a physician supervised very low calorie weight loss program in the past and has since gained it all back. At a family gathering with me sitting there and no one else knows about my decision for surgery she can't stop talking about how you can't live on 800 calories a day and your hair falls out and all you are doing is starving yourself and on and on. I'm thinking that she is just upset that I won't be fat anymore.
  18. I'm not telling the nosey women at work that already comment on everyone's lunch. And when they ask about my weight loss I'll say yes I am losing weight, but enough about my weight let's talk about yours.

    Surgery at 56?

I am 56 and just getting started. I have to wait 6 months for insurance. I saw myself on a video yesterday. This six months cannot go fast enough. I can't wait ! [emoji3]
  21. I think we must have the same coworker. And for the exact reason you just described if I can help it she will never know when I have the surgery. Sent from my SM-T330NU using the BariatricPal App

    Priority Health - MI

That sound about right from what I have read. Do u have to do 6 months of supervised visits? I do. Sent from my SCH-I545 using the BariatricPal App Yes. I had my physical and meet with the dietitian this week. Sent from my SM-T330NU using the BariatricPal App

    Priority Health - MI

I have priority Health and have just started my journey. You need to have at least a BMI of 35 and one comorbid condition or just a BMI over 40. At least for my priority Health plan. I don't think all plans are the same though Sent from my SM-T330NU using the BariatricPal App
  24. I'm telling people at work that I am having hernia surgery to fix my GERD. Some know I have had trouble with GERD in the past. As far as losing weight after, they have also seen me lose weight before, and then put it back on, so I am telling people about my fitness pal. I will not tell them about the sleeve because a woman at my work told people about her WLS and she was forever known as the woman that had bypas surgery even after she left the company. I'm not going to be that person.

    The start of the process

I'm just starting. I'm looking at November for my WLS. I see the dietitian this week too.
