    May 9th-13th sleevers

@@jackiery, ah yes the burping! Anything that goes into my mouth food or liquid is followed by a symphony of Homer Simpson style burping! I repulse myself but I'm also embracing it....if I go out in public I never leave the house without my Gas X strips. I have Gas X in many forms all over the house and in every purse or car[emoji40]

    Pain

@@sleeve.me I'm doing so much better! The pain was most intense the first week. I'm able to do everything I did pre op without pain. The largest incision -the one where your tummy comes out, is a bit sensitive but it's manageable!
  4. Not a fun topic at all but I wish I had this info prior to what happened to me today. This post is for all the newly sleeved, you will want to read this. OK, I was sleeved May 10th and my last BM was on the 9th. I'm feeling really good, the surgery was successful and I never had to use pain meds. I mention this because I was told only IF I take pain meds, should I also take a stool softener. No softener for me, I never needed the pain meds! This morning I had my 1-week post-op Dr appointment where I mentioned I still had no BM. I was told it is very normal and due to a liquid diet, I may not have one until the puréed stage. About 2 hours after arriving home, my body signaled I had to finally make a BM! My happiness went from this is great to call 911, NOW! You see, I was on the toilet for about 1/2 hour lightly pushing, then pushing harder then to rocking around the seat doing what I could to release the demon inside me... NOTHING worked. I finally gave up took a walk drank some Water and then the urge to go came back a second time...NOTHING came out. I ended up becoming very dizzy, I started to sweat, I saw stars then everything around me went white! I was passing out from the pain of pushing (hurt my tummy) and from the pain my bottom was feeling (felt like I was passing a small watermelon wrapped with barbed wire). Luckily, my sweet husband came to my rescue with a cold water and ice pack and his shirt around his nose. He called the nurse and she recommended an enema, some milk of magnesium, and suppositories...yeah, forget the enema you will not be able to contort your wounded tummy properly. You drink the magnesium and take the suppository!! So, about 10 minutes later and more pain and screaming, I gave birth to something so incredible I couldn't believe my eyes (I see why I was in pain if you know what I mean). Now, I'm literally "pissing" out of my ass, which is in so much pain. Moral of this disgusting story, take a stool softener no matter what even if you don't take pain meds and , especially if you haven't pooped in 2 days maybe try some milk of magnesium too. I hope this post saves at least 1 persons rump! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I'm on the puréed stage for about 3 weeks now and just wanted to know what you all are eating. I tried refried beans and my tummy said NO right away. I also tried plain cream of wheat which was ok but not a lot of protein.

    Anyone get sleeved in May?

@@Justaprettyface, If you get a chance, read my "TMI MY FIRST BM", I just posted it. Beside my BM issue, which you can now be aware of and avoid for yourself, I'm doing really great!! I had a 2 day hospital stay and then was released to come home. The first 2 days home were a bit painful but manageable I never even needed my pain meds and I have a very low tolerance of pain. Things you may need to heal you feel better, get an abdominal binder (hospital provided one to me before I left). This helps keep things where they need to be, takes of the pressure when you get up and down. Do what you can to drink all your water. The sip, sip thing for me was not allowing me to get my water in for the day so I tried a small swallow then a normal swallow which was just fine for me. I drink just like normal now. WALK! At first I didn't want to move but I know in my heart I have healed 10 times fast because I walked. Go outside and walk down your street, get some fresh air. I live 2 blocks from the beach and having the sun on my face, the ocean crashing was just such a treat. You will get through this, use your support team. Call the nurse if you need to, I did the first day home. My tongue was white and I ended up with thrush, cause by Anesthesia-totally normal. Sorry for the long post! You will do great, this is all worth it. I was down 18 pounds from my last visit pre-op to today! Everyday I'm stronger, happier, and so proud of my decision to make my health a priority. I would rather have this surgery on my terms than open heart surgery or something like that. I'll be praying for you and a speedy recovery!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pain

Everyday I'm getting stronger and stronger. I have been wearing an abdominal brace and that helps tremendously. I find just standing up more than sitting down to be very helpful, walking also helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    4 days pos-op

I had a 2 night hospital stay. The day of surgery I was up walking around the two days I was in the hospital I had an IV getting lots of fluids. The first two days after surgery everything tasted sweet. The Water tasted sweet I was allowed ice chips which helped. Meal trays came around which consisted of Jell-O,a Syntrax Protein shake and some chicken broth all of which tasted extremely sweet to me I may have been able to get a few ounces down but not much and those ounces made me completely nauseous. As the days go by I'm getting stronger and stronger and I can hold down more ounces every day. My experience with pain has been pretty good I haven't had the need to take any pain medications. I do have a tinge of pain when I stand up sit down cough or sneeze on the left. I called my bariatric coordinator and was told this is a very common pain which can last 1-2 months long. I develop thrush which is basically a yeast infection on your tounge which makes it white and the texture of it became more abrasive also common.I find getting water down is hard, the taste is not appealing right now. I found a solution which is the aloe concentrate from Herbalife. Aloe heals the tummy and promotes absorption.

    Stepping on the scale.....

I do not weigh myself at all. For me personally, I'm approaching this weight-loss surgery tool as a new beginning doing things I normally would not have done in the past such as focus on the number on the scale. I can see that I'm losing weight the number itself doesn't matter to me it's the feeling becoming a healthier person.[emoji6]

    Post-op pain

I had the sleeve procedure May 10. I did not have much pain at all and I haven't taken any pain medication what I can say is there is a slight tinge or pulling feeling on the left side of my abdomen every time I stand up sit down cough or sneeze I feel that pinching and it's not comfortable. It's a bearable pain and I'm told it can last 1 to 2 months.
