@ebe44 my experience was that after you participate with the webinar you then call and schedule an appointment. At my first appointment I met with the doc/surgeon. During this meeting we discussed my specific health situation and he went over the various procedures. The psych part essentially was taken an online exam and then a conversation with the psychiatrist. I decided on gastric sleeve based on I wanted less invasive and I already have some nutritional deficiencies and I was concerned about long term supplementation and absorbing vitamins. With the sleeve and vitamin deficiencies going into this it was recommended that I follow the vitamin supplementation that gastric bypass patients have. Final decision for the sleeve was made after gastro appointments and I got clearance no gerd issues. I am doing great and best decision I made for myself. Good luck.

I have FEPBCBS and my understanding is that they might approve you for a panniculectomy to remove the excess hanging skin on the stomache if you are having issues. My understanding is that you will need documentations of skin irritations, yeast infections, odors, etc. also if the skirt as they call it is causing issues that may be keeping you from being successful in regards to the weight loss such as not being able to exercise. I also understand they look at the measurement of the skirt and how low it is hanging and if it interferes with daily activities. I am not at that point yet but what I did was take photos right before surgery (day of surgery) with a sport bra and yoga pants from different angles, and have documented via photos throughout the process just in case. I have heard that they might approve with incidences of three to four skin irritations. As far as skin removal for like arms or thigh lift my understanding they won't cover. For the girls my understanding this is strictly considered cosmetic and the will not cover but then if you really read in between the covered benefits there are a couple of caveats that deal with significant deformities of the girls that might be able to be covered with documentation from a physician. I hope this information helps you in your research I am not a physician just another person going through the process like everyone else. There are a few more who have gone the path a may be able to chime in. Good luck. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

@@mm7250 hang in there and stay focused and excited and take it one day at a time. Congratulations.....you made it through the first two days. I had to do two weeks of the liquid diet and once I got passed day three it seemed to get better. The feelings you have described are pretty normal. I had surgery 28 April 2016 and I am down a total of 110 lbs. I will not tell you that this is easy but you can do it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
