Calling all June '16 sleevers!
Carolyn1967 replied to shrinkingkimber's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on June 27th as well and had the exact same experience. Then it just stopped at around 11 days out. Since then I seem to be doing ok and haven't had further issues. Are you on a full liquid diet at this point? I was sleeved on June 27th as well and had the exact same experience. Then it just stopped at around 11 days out. Since then I seem to be doing ok and haven't had further issues. Are you on a full liquid diet at this point? No, I'm on to soft solids. My PCP tested for c-Diff, negative, so he believes I have a virus and suggested a Fiber supplement and changed some of my meds. I pray this changes things. I need to be able to exercise. -
Bowel movement question post op
Carolyn1967 replied to LACRACRA2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 weeks post-op sleeve and have had diarrhea since day 3. I'm very frustrated because I can't do anything or go anywhere. I can't exercise even. My surgeon said call my PCP. So now I'm waiting for test results. Everything else is on track. But I'm getting pretty down about this. -

Okay, so I was sleeved on June 27, and I've had diarrhea since. I've heard of people being constipated, but not diarrhea. I also have discomfort on the right side of my abdomen. I did call the nurse, her only concern was dehydration. I want this to stop so I can get on with life. I can't exercise or go for walks, I can barely leave my second floor where my toilet is. Anyone been here? -
What do you know now that you wish you knew prior to surgery
Carolyn1967 replied to Andi07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I want to thank you for your kind advice. I am nearly 2 weeks post-op now. I felt very confident going into surgery thanks to this thread! I had everything I needed and not a bunch of stuff I didn't. Plus, I was well informed by all of you on what to expect. I'm doing great and feel very confident in my recovery. You guys rock!!!! -
This is exactly what I was told by my surgeon's office. I found that popsicles helped a great deal with the swelling. sugar free, of course. I felt totally different in a day, as far as the tightness when swallowing.

Hi Pipergurl, it's been tough getting in all the fluids here too. Make sure you're counting everything, it's 64 ounces of fluid, not just water. Popcicles count, broths, protein drinks, it all works toward fluids! Keep on! -

Hi All! One week post-op today! I'm feeling pretty well as of yesterday. Finally relieved of all the gas! That was the worst. I can't thank you all enough for the suggestions, they were soooo helpful. Keep on keeping on!!!! -
Thank you for all the feedback on this issue. I was feeling like there was something more wrong with me. You all have helped a great deal. I'm the type of person who if I know what is causing this pain/discomfort I can endure. It's not knowing that trips me up. And it all sounds so logical when I see it here. Yeah, your stomach is still healing so there's going to be discomfort! And the entrance is more narrow, so yeah, you're going to feel stuff going down!

Calling all June '16 sleevers!

Well, today's the day! I'm kind of numb at the moment, not sure how I feel. I got a call and surgeries are running late so we wait! At least we hadn't left the house yet. I had things planned just so, so I wouldn't have a lot of time to wait and get anxious... oh well! I wish I could drink water, but I'll deal. Two hours before I can even leave the house. Going to knit because I can't focus on a book or show right now. Wish me luck! -

Calling all June '16 sleevers!
Carolyn1967 replied to shrinkingkimber's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am having surgery on Monday. June 27th. I was originally scheduled for July 18th but they had a cancellation and now I'm freaking. I had planned how I would handle the month waiting, be really organized and ready. Now my brain is a mess! I had ten days to prepare when I found out I got bumped up. I'm sure it'll work out fine, it's just a little nerve wracking. -

I appreciate all of your replies to this topic. I am awaiting my surgery date and can use so much of this information. Thank all of you for helping others be better prepared, know more of what to expect and what you really need for supplies. -
Anyone not telling anyone about their surgery?
Carolyn1967 replied to taramarie523's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I consider all my health matters as "Need to know", only those who need to know what's going on with my health are told. I'm approaching this the same way. It's no one's business if I'm having sleeve surgery or a wisdom tooth out. Those who are important in my life, who I already talk to and confide in I've told. Everyone else can read it in my mémoires when I write them!!!! We tend to feel like we owe people an explanation or answer, but we really don't. If it doesn't affect their lives, they don't need to know my business; and if they will literally die from curiosity-then they have bigger problems than me!! This experience will NOT be the juiciest bit in my life story! -
Hair loss help... Devastated
Carolyn1967 replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, officially terrified of going bald now. I've been losing my hair since my thyroid started acting up years ago. Now I find out if I have the sleeve I will lose MORE hair. I take a multi vitamin, vitamin D and a Hair, Skin and Nails vitamin, I wasn't worrying about my shampoo and conditioner, got it from my salon - volumizing. Pinkgirl1234 what happened when you used Nioxin? Anyone else too, good, bad any information would be appreciated. Melyssafaye thank you for your input, very helpful. Has anyone started Nioxin before surgery? Would that help? Desperately Seeking Follicles! -
My surgery is tomorrow
Carolyn1967 commented on crazygoose's blog entry in The transformation of one crazy goose
Hi Goose, I just joined Pals tonight and yours is the first blog I've read. I pray all has gone well with your surgery and you're resting fine. Deep breath and one hour at a time, get what you need for that hour, then the next and the next. I have one more appointment with my Bariatric Center (to satisfy my insurance company) before I can meet the surgeon. I still have a bit of before weight to lose also, but they say that's not a strict number before meeting the surgeon and planning for the sleeve. I'll check back in a couple of days to see if you've updated. Warmly, Carolyn1967
