  1. Okay, so I was sleeved on June 27, and I've had diarrhea since. I've heard of people being constipated, but not diarrhea. I also have discomfort on the right side of my abdomen. I did call the nurse, her only concern was dehydration. I want this to stop so I can get on with life. I can't exercise or go for walks, I can barely leave my second floor where my toilet is. Anyone been here?

I was sleeved on June 27th as well and had the exact same experience. Then it just stopped at around 11 days out. Since then I seem to be doing ok and haven't had further issues. Are you on a full liquid diet at this point?

No, I'm on to soft solids. My PCP tested for c-Diff, negative, so he believes I have a virus and suggested a Fiber supplement and changed some of my meds. I pray this changes things. I need to be able to exercise.

  3. My surgeon said that the opening to my stomach may be narrow due to swelling and to wait 2-3weeks to see if it gets better otherwise he would do a swallow test to see how food goes down and if anything he can do another procedure to widen the opening but I wouldn't see as much weight loss. He also started me on soft foods to see if that helps. If I eat puréed foods it hurts worse, but sometimes it doesn't.

    Good Luck Everyone.

This is exactly what I was told by my surgeon's office. I found that popsicles helped a great deal with the swelling. sugar free, of course. I felt totally different in a day, as far as the tightness when swallowing.

  4. I'm two weeks post op today and having a hard time getting enough Water in. I'm dehydrated almost every day and that's making me tired and dizzy. Here's to hoping this week is better!!!

Hi Pipergurl, it's been tough getting in all the fluids here too. Make sure you're counting everything, it's 64 ounces of Fluid, not just water. Popcicles count, broths, Protein Drinks, it all works toward fluids! Keep on!

  5. Best of luck! We've all been there. You will do fine. The hardest part is the wait. Remember, when all is said and done, it'll be worth it.

    >Hi Carolyn checking in here. I'm in my third day post op and feeling VERY nauseous. I have some pain in my abdomen that I don't know what it is. Surgery went well. In hospital recovery was moving along at a good pace. Now I just feel sick to my stomach and pain in that area. It's not like the surgery areas, I can't tell if it's gas, just regular pain, hunger pains or acid in my stomach. I didn't used to get hunger pains at all, so I don't know what that feels like. I've been doing everything for nausea they recommended and still having dry heaves. Anyone else experience similar? I'm walking, I'm sipping, hurts every time I sip. No more big pain meds, justs tylenol. And I can't believe they expect me to poop. I haven't had solid food since Friday! Am I the only one not even tempted to weigh myself?!!! I don't plan on weighing myself until my post op appointment in a month! Any hints on how to get my regular meds in without getting sick? Thank you for listening!

Hi All! One week post-op today! I'm feeling pretty well as of yesterday. Finally relieved of all the gas! That was the worst. I can't thank you all enough for the suggestions, they were soooo helpful. Keep on keeping on!!!!

  6. Thank you for all the feedback on this issue. I was feeling like there was something more wrong with me. You all have helped a great deal. I'm the type of person who if I know what is causing this pain/discomfort I can endure. It's not knowing that trips me up. And it all sounds so logical when I see it here. Yeah, your stomach is still healing so there's going to be discomfort! And the entrance is more narrow, so yeah, you're going to feel stuff going down!

  8. I am having surgery on Monday. June 27th. I was originally scheduled for July 18th but they had a cancellation and now I'm freaking. I had planned how I would handle the month waiting, be really organized and ready. Now my brain is a mess! I had ten days to prepare when I found out I got bumped up. I'm sure it'll work out fine, it's just a little nerve wracking.

Well, today's the day! I'm kind of numb at the moment, not sure how I feel. I got a call and surgeries are running late so we wait! At least we hadn't left the house yet. I had things planned just so, so I wouldn't have a lot of time to wait and get anxious... oh well! I wish I could drink Water, but I'll deal. Two hours before I can even leave the house. Going to knit because I can't focus on a book or show right now. Wish me luck!

  10. I consider all my health matters as "Need to know", only those who need to know what's going on with my health are told. I'm approaching this the same way. It's no one's business if I'm having sleeve surgery or a wisdom tooth out. Those who are important in my life, who I already talk to and confide in I've told. Everyone else can read it in my mémoires when I write them!!!!

We tend to feel like we owe people an explanation or answer, but we really don't. If it doesn't affect their lives, they don't need to know my business; and if they will literally die from curiosity-then they have bigger problems than me!!

This experience will NOT be the juiciest bit in my life story!

  11. Okay, officially terrified of going bald now. I've been losing my hair since my thyroid started acting up years ago. Now I find out if I have the sleeve I will lose MORE hair. I take a multi Vitamin, Vitamin D and a Hair, Skin and Nails vitamin, I wasn't worrying about my Shampoo and conditioner, got it from my salon - volumizing.

Pinkgirl1234 what happened when you used Nioxin? Anyone else too, good, bad any information would be appreciated.

Melyssafaye thank you for your input, very helpful.

Has anyone started Nioxin before surgery? Would that help?
