  1. I am a foodie too... what i did during my "fantasizing about food" stage is that i used that time to think of ways to adapt that meal to a sleeve friendly version for when i can eat. This helped me figure out that i can still enjoy food whilst adhering to the rules... hence no mourning... But that stage does suck.. it will become easier once you are on soft foods... much more variety

    HELP!

Have you tried increasing your calories? What is a typical day of food and exercise?
  3. @@Elle09 Thank you! I just didn't realize that i was half way to goal yesterday... that completely threw me off... Unfortunately my head hasn't caught up yet... i can fit into more of my "skinny" clothes now and people are commenting... but my brain still sees my body at my starting weight... weird how that happens.... but i am happy... even though my weight loss is slow as expected... im losing.. so woohoo to me!
  4. Unfortunately i can not comment on the insurance side of your question as i am in Australia and things work differently here. But from my understanding is that you first meet with your surgeon to discuss the various surgeries suitable for your weight and lifestyle. Depending on the surgeon, they all have different requirements.. some need a sleep study, most want a psych evaluation and a dietitian appointment... your surgein will advise what you need and where to get these done. If you decide to go ahead with the surgery and you get approved, you will be required to do a diet for a time specified by your surgeon, they will book in your surgery and give you information regarding what to do after it. Unfortunately thats all i know.... maybe someone else on the board from the usa can give you more information regarding the insurance and approval and the process, i could be wrong. First thing you should do, is meet with your surgeon... he will be able to guide you in what you need to do... booking your own things could be a waste of time and money if he does not require them. I hope this helped
  5. Im sorry you are feeling like this. Are you taking your Vitamins? Were your Vitamin levels tested pre op? Normally people experience changes in mood due to the release of hormones in the system early out, but normally its being agitation and anger and restlessness. I know that when you are low in B vitamins this can bring on anxiety and panic attacks... specifically being low in Vitamin B6, folate and B1... Do you have a history of anxiety?
  6. Thats okay... welcome to the forum.. You will find that we are a little more relaxed than other forums online... there are forums for each topic, but sometimes people who are new do not know how to navigate the site... so its understood that people make mistakes. Sorry if my post came across rude, i wasnt trying to be, i was just trying to point out that its okay to make errors
  7. @@Sergio_TX The post was a nice post, therefore why would admin be required? Yes it was posted in the wrong forum, but does it really matter.. what matters is that the OP was posting something that is important to her, so there is no need to call her out publicly as if she commited a crime... not very nice... everyone makes mistakes. In future, a friendly private message would be a better option.

    Weight Loss Surgery Success Habits

There are quite a few points that i disagree with... eg waiting 2 hours after eating before drinking!.. you would never get your fluids in... it also states to drink Fluid rapidly... this causes pain for some people. Also adding fruit to make up a quarter of a your plate... this wouldn't apply to diabetics... thats way to much for each meal.. way to many sugars

    Weight Loss Surgery Success Habits

There is nothing wrong with eating animal meat if you choose to... we were advised to eat Protein... protein does not only come from meat, you can get it from many sources.... I think the focus on animal meat products is that it is the easiest and most well known type of protein... any layman when asked what protein is.. will answer meat, poultry, fish. I personally get sick of eating the same type of food... i need variety... so i switch between animal and non animal sources depending on what i feel like. Also, i think the original info which was published in 1995 has some info that would be considered redundant now as new research emerges... it would be good if there was an updated version

    What's normal after dumping?

No... you can dump with all bariatric surgery.... its a myth that you can't dump with the sleeve or band... its just not as common due to the nature of how we eat. If i have had a high sugar/carb/fat meal that causes you to dump... i usually get really hot and my skin gets clammy and sweaty, i am jittery, then i get stomach cramps.. around 10 mins in i have to go to the bathroom... once i have evacuated everything i need to lie down and then i am really sleepy..... this usually passes completely after 1 hour... strangely for me, i feel really hungry after its gone. I have only dumped a handful of times... but the experience has been the same every time

    RNY 2010 FAIL

Have you had your thyroid checked? A lot of times a hypothyroid can mimic pcos and insulin resistance. Also, have you had all your hormones checked? Progesterone, estradiol, estrogen, testosterone, dhea, prolactin etc

    Ugh. No filter family! >:(

Grr i know exactly how you feel... families can suck sometimes... they seem to think they can say whatever and we should just accept it.... i know its annoying and it hurts... but i have learned that its not worth taking it to heart.. I've learned to take it with a grain of salt..... but it is annoying i feel your pain

    Band > Sleeve now what?

Well wait and see what your doctor says... but i would strongly suggest going back to basics.... measure your food, cut way down on carbs, eliminate sugar etc till you see the surgeon and see what happens... A bmi of 30 is no where near as bad as having one of 40... with some sacrifice and determine o believe you can do it... i understand what its like... the further out we are the less complacent we are without even realising... a bite here.. a snack there.. it all adds up

    Chicken wings

Chicken wings are great! I love love love them... i like the midwing part, so i buy them without the drumstick... 2-3 small midwings are the perfect portion size for me

    Band > Sleeve now what?

You will be able to eat more with the sleeve as you have had the band.... the band causes dilation of the esophagus which reduces our sensitivity.. in turn this enables us to have more food due to the reduced pressure. I am the same, i could have half a cup straight out after revision to the sleeve... even now i have no issues drinking 1 litre of Water in one sitting, i can gulp water with ease.... I could probably have 1 cup of food if i really tried.. but i don't allow myself to try, i measure out my food and don't eat till i am full.... i eat till i am satisfied and not feeling hunger... as an ex bander weight loss is lower too.. and yes it is very frustrating! You have not failed.. you have succeeded... you are close to goal... you are not as far away as you were before.. remind yourself of that... look how far you have come.. not how far you have to go.... Review your habits honestly, we all can fall into habits that work against us.. its what we do to change them that makes all the difference... go back to basics... it does work...

How to Make the Most Out of Buffets

Hmm thats a tricky one.... I would sneak something in... choose a booth in the corner and wear dark sunglasses and a trench coat lol .. what are they going to do if you get caught.. arrest you? Lol

    Band > Sleeve now what?

Yes.. good idea.. a follow up with your surgeon would be good.. perhaps a follow up with the dietitian would be a good idea too. You seem to know what your issue is, have you tried not having carbs and sugars? Have you asked yourself honestly why you still have them when you know that is what is hindering your weight loss? I know thats a obvious question.. but if that is an issue with the sleeve, it will still be an issue with the bypass... and if you are relying on dumping... not everyone dumps.... ????

How to Make the Most Out of Buffets

Thats such a shame... it amazes me how businesses see people as customers first and people second.. it doesn't hurt them if you bring your own food for medical purposes... that ticks me off. Do they serve tea or coffee? Maybe you can have a cup so you don't have to fake it pizza hut here is very limited, they got rid of the buffets years ago, so i have no idea what they do in the UK

    Band > Sleeve now what?

Well the fact you have had two surgeries, i highly doubt you would have major weight loss with a 3rd. The shock value of reducing calories is gone, and your metabolism would have adjusted to it. I know for certain that weight loss is slower 2nd time around, so i would imagine how much slower it would be a 3rd. Sorry i am not trying to be a negative nelly, but thats just how our bodies work.... its a fact that you lose slower and slower with each revision, and being a lower BMI also works against you. Perhaps try your pre op diet again? Cut out carbs and sugars and stick to high Protein and see how much you can achieve doing that. Are you exercising?
