  1. I had really bad reflux that lasted for a few weeks.... it got so bad that i had to see the surgeon, he suggested that i double the dose.. once in the morning and once in the evening. I tried this and it made it worse! So the next day i took nothing... gone..... turns out for me it was the PPI that was causing the reflux! 3 months post op now, i haven't had it since i went off it. How far out are you?

Racing heart and dizzy at times

Usually when you have dizziness accompanied with heart palpitations its usually because you are low in potassium or electrolytes
  3. Yes, its frustrating... and at one point i thought.. did i lose half my stomach to stay the same! But thankfully it has picked up now... i do not know what the numbers are at the moment as i gave up weighing myself cause it was driving me crazy... i decided only to weigh during my follow up appointments. I also noticed that once i was eating "normally" i started dropping too... and by normally i mean adding salad, veg etc.. so meat/poultry/veg/good carbs etc
  4. Some of us are just different... i didn't lose much during my first 2 months... its only now during my 3rd that i am finally seeing the numbers drop. Also, when i had my band, same thing, lost barely anything for the first 3 months.. then dropped a massive amount of weight and reached goal by month 6.. I think us lower BMI patients lose differently than the higher bmi patients... ive noticed mine is slow and steady.. which to be honest i prefer, less loose skin and wobbly bits and skin dimples

HOW do you drink so much?!?!

I had the 'water goes through me' and i need to pee as soon as i drank water problem... the dietitian advised that i add a pinch of salt to my water to enable it to "stick"... it actually helped.

    Hi everyone!

Basically keeping the meat moist, stews, casseroles, slow cooking, pressure cooking etc ... try and use cooking methods that do not dry the meat out. I found those types of foods actually stayed down.. and were healthy and Protein rich

    Nausea attacks when I sleep

I knew it.... you are low in electrolytes... get yourself some and have them regularly... It sounds as you have a number of issues, which is leading to other issues... the low electrolytes cause heart palpitations, sweaty, jittery feeling, nausea etc.. it also reduces your blood pressure... The diarrhea might be a separate issue, but it is probably contributing to your low electrolytes. Try to add a little salt to your meals (if making fresh food), try to have foods high in potassium, make sure your multi has Vitamins AND minerals. Try that, let me know how you go.. Sorry i just realised you are probably on liquids.... get yourself some Gatorade... or go to the pharmacy and buy a electrolyte replacement drink... they are both safe this early out

    Stumped: hunger, sleeve, RNY

Nah, its definitely hunger.. i know the difference between hunger, head hunger, stomach acid hunger & dehydration... this is definitely real hunger..... after 8 years i definitely know the difference... i wonder if its because i am a revision patient... when i had my band i didn't feel hunger... but with the sleeve i do feel actual hunger.. but it passes as soon as i have a couple of bites.

    Stumped: hunger, sleeve, RNY

I am not sure about rny... but i definitely feel hunger... and have felt it since week 3 post op. The only difference is that the hunger goes from a couple of bites. Sorry can't answer your actual question, I've never considered the rny.. so i have limited info
  10. I knew an unfill would resolve most of the issues... I've been there so many times when i had my band. It sounds like you are almost in the green zone actually. When you are in the green zone you feel "hunger" but you get restriction.... it shouldn't be painful or tight. Surprisingly i lost more weight when i was in the green zone than when it was too tight. Try not to get large fills from this point, only really tiny fills... its amazing how only a tiny bit too much can drive you into the red zone. Glad everything got resolved... all the best on your journey

    Lap band port re adjusted

I had my port moved twice! The pain just moved from one side to the other.. made absolutely no difference.. also because i lost all my weight excess weight... the port kept rubbing against everything.... couldn't sleep or lay on my tummy or certain positions on the side... and you literally could feel/see it poking out. So glad i got my band removed, i don't have any issues like this with the sleeve

    Working Out

Just take it slow... who cares what everyone else is doing.... even if they are able to follow the instructor better or are fitter it makes no impact on you and your health... You are doing this for you, your health and well being.. no one in that room will benefit from it but you. Honestly, when i see unfit/obese people working out or in classes who are struggling, i have so much respect for them, the fact they have the willpower to do something about it, and are committing to improving their health. Good for you for sticking with it. Go at your own pace, do not risk injury or pain, slowly build up....it does get easier with time.. As you get fitter the easier it will become... then you will look back and you will be amazed at how far you've come! Concentrate on doing you and the benefits you get... you've got this! Keep up the good work.

    Nausea attacks when I sleep

Are you getting heart palpitations too? Fluttering? You could possibly need some electrolytes to replace the potassium and sodium lost with the diarrhea

  16. They will still go ahead with the surgery.... it will just be uncomfortable for you. You should be okay post surgery, however if you have a history of anemia, buy yourself an liquid Iron or liquid multi to take post surgery
  17. Keep your hands santitised and washed, take double doses of Vitamin C (1000mg). Keep your baby as clean as possible by wiping his/her hands often... try and stop the spread of germs as much as you can

My fave lamb shank recipe. 4 lamb shanks 1 red onion & 1 white onion Garlic 1 litre chicken stock Dried oregano Dried thyme Bay leaves 3 large tomatos 1 eggplant 3 potatoes Add a little oil in the pressure cooker, sear lamb shanks. Add onions, garlic, oregano, thyme, bay leaves, 1 litre stock, salt/pepper. Pressure cook for 10 mins, release pressure and open lid. Then add the eggplant, tomatoes and potatoes and return to pressure for 30 mins. This is super fragrant and totally yum!

    Seriously considering making the change

Sounds like your band is sitting in a strange position... if it was too tight, there is no way you could finish a whole wrap... Sometimes when its in an odd place, you can eat but you slime alot.. I would do the unfill and refill.. it will let everything fall back into place and reduce any irritation from the band.

    Working out and calories in/out

You are starving! You will not loose weight like this.. you will maintain and once you eat again, you would have screwed your metabolism therefore gaining weight once you eat more the further out you are. Cut down the exercise to 3-4 times a week... For the amount of exercise you are doing 40g of carbs is not enough unless your calories are higher. For that amount of exercise a normal person who is on a calorie reduction of 1200 calories wouldn't loose any weight. To loose one pound of fat one needs to burn 3,500 calories a week... If you are eating 800 calories per day... thats 5,600 calories per week So say that you are 5'5" and weigh 200lbs.. BMR is 1400 calories per day just to exist (organs, breathing etc) That person needs 9,800 calories a week to exist! Exercise is 6,000 calories burned a week. 9,800 (BMR) minus 5,600 (calories) = deficit 4,200 minus 6,000 (exercise) = -1,800 calories a week The deficit is way to large!.. it shouldn't be that large! You can add much more calories a week and still loose a pound a week.

    Seriously considering making the change

The hunger feeling that you are having could be from too much acid.. ask your doctor for a PPI. As for the weight gain, if your band is too tight as your barrium swallow shows, it might be a good idea to get a large unfill, let it rest for 2 weeks then go back for a refill... I found that when my band was playing up an unfill would do the trick... But if you were in the red zone you wouldn't be able to eat much food.. unless you are eating soft slider foods. Because you were banded and lost a significant amount of weight be aware that weight loss is much slower when you get revised for a 2nd surgery... for 14kg i would suggest the unfill and refill technique and try going back to basics. What are you currently eating? How many calories do you consume? Are you exercising? Are you tracking your food?
