    Banded tomorrow!

I was able to drink a couple of hours after coming out of recovery.... but its a different sensation to normal, not painful, just different like a tightness. Tip, don't try and guzzle your Water, sip slowly and frequently and relax. You'll get more fluids in this way. Goodluck with your surgery... feel free to ask any questions Sent from my SM-G925I using the BariatricPal App

    Banded tomorrow!

I remember when i had my band (mind you this was 6 years ago.. im sure things would be better now) When i awoke in recovery i felt this need to dryheave.. and was pretty groggy.. this passed a few minutes later. Once i was back in my room.. i felt a little tired and tight around my chest. By the evening i was walking around. The sensation of getting water/broth down was odd from memory, not painful just odd. There was no pain, just a "ive worked out my stomach" kind of feeling Other than that.. it was a relatively easy recovery.. i was out shopping by day 5 Sent from my SM-G925I using the BariatricPal App
  6. Hi all I am totally freaking out! My surgery is one week away and i am so tempted to cancel. I am really scared and nervous. I am not new to WLS, i had the band for 6 years, had complications and had it removed 12 months ago, so i have been through this process before and have an idea of what to expect kind of. I keep asking myself the following... - Cant i just continue Optifast to loose weight. - what will happen 20 years down the track. - is it necessary since i am not that big and i hold my weight well - why go through this and get loose skin when my body is not that flabby now. - will this cause me to have no social life as eating is a form of social and cultural get togethers. - my hair is already falling out.... will i be bald. And so much more. Ive researched for months and still can't imagine how much I will be able to eat n drink. Please help... i am seriously tempted to cancel my surgery as i am petrified that ill end up with complications that I had with my band 6 years out. Did anyone else go through this so close to surgery?
  7. Thank you for the detailed reply... I have been on Optifast for 5 days and ive lost 9lbs... which is great! After getting the band removed ive been eating well for 12 months and doing everything "right" and still gained.. so im glad there is movement on the scales and clothes. I guess im going to have to be a big girl now and just accept the fact that i couldn't do it on my own. I really hope everything works out for everyone on here. You do not understand how much your support means to me... since no one really understands what we go through on a daily basis Sent from my SM-G925I using the BariatricPal App
  8. Thank you... i really needed that. I guess i know deep down that it will be a different journey to the last time... maybe i am going through the pre-surgery jitters. I think a big part of it is that the last time i went into it completely blind and naive... so everything was new and unexpected... maybe i am too over educated about it now... and possible complications.... ah ignorance is bliss Thank you for taking time out for me... i appreciate it Sent from my SM-G925I using the BariatricPal App

  10. Thanks Christinamo7... I know that without this surgery that i will not be able to control my weight. Since i had the band removed 12m ago.. ive gained most back.. even with eating well and being active. I know ill probably be a slow loser and im ok with that.. as long as im losing. Funny i was ready.... then bam.. last two days my mind has gone into overdrive.. guess reality has set in... that this time next week ill be post op Sent from my SM-G925I using the BariatricPal App
  11. I did have minimal hair loss the last time... but my hair was twice as thick as it is now... my hair has been falling out after i had it chemically straightened. I know answers to these questions are a an individual thing... but i am asking myself them quite frequently.. to the point im wanting to cancel. How are you finding things 6.5m out compared to the start? Sent from my SM-G925I using the BariatricPal App
  12. Thanks myka99. I appreciate your reply. I am soing ok with the liquid diet, i guess from doing it last time i knew what to expect so i was much more prepared for it this time. I just spring cleaned my house n garage for the first 3 days... that kept me busy and my mind of food... Im glad to have met someone so close to my surgery date. Whats your story? Restriction loss after 2 fills

I did adjustments when i felt i neeeded them. I listened to my body and paid attention to how much I was eating. I was in the green zone probably after my 2nd fill.. around 6 months passed (i lost most of my weight during that time) then suddenly it felt like i could eat much more. So after that i would get filled .. realise it was too tight and have to get unfilled...never got back to the green zone. My advice is listen to your body... dont have your band too tight as this will contribute to complications down the road. I believe i was successful mainly because i was using the band as a tool.. so even if i was hungry i tried to make good choices. I hope that helps. How are you feeling now?

4 years post band removal and want sleeve!

Hi I haven't had the sleeve yet... i will be having it in 8 days time. My story is identical to yours and i have exactly the same concerns. I had my band removed 12 months ago... and have basically lived on salad and meat since then and have gained most of my weight back. I think there might be some metabolic damage... but i am on pre op diet right now and i am down 5 pounds in 3 days! I have no answers for you... but i do understand how you feel Sent from my SM-G925I using the BariatricPal App
  15. Hi everybody! I am due to have the sleeve in 2 weeks, i had the band for 6 years, removed 1 year ago.. gained most back. I am curious to hear from people who have had band to sleeve revision. If you were to compare... what would you say are the differences... in relation to eating, hair loss, skin etc. Reason i ask... i was successful with the band... minimal hair loss and no loose skin, im curious to know if ill have the same result this time around. I hope that made sense. .. sorry my brain is fried today... 1st day of optihell lol

    Any April/May 2016 sleevers?

We are surgery buddies!!Awesome! Good luck and keep in touch. How are you coping so far? Im a big ball of mixed emotions... and being on opti isnt helping much I am doing well. I came to peace with my decision when I decided to do the procedure. What I try to do is find myself imagining myself reaching my goal. What I will look like. What I will feel like. I also imagine doing the things that I will be able to do once I reach my goal and, the effect it will have on people that I love and care for. You also need someone to support you and confide in.Im finding i keep doing 'what if' scenarios. For eg... the biggest one is... what if in 20 years time... it turns out that there is complications related to this type of surgery. I guess i am a little hesitant, as an ex bander.. i didn't have complications till 5 years out.... im scared the same will happen again

    Restriction loss after 2 fills

Hmm i guess that doesn't apply.... Are you inflamed or gassy? Cause if you have a fill during those times.. you will feel restriction then once the inflammation settles you lose it

    Restriction loss after 2 fills

Im not sure if you are male or female. But if you are female..... i noticed that if i get a fill around the time i am ovulating or on my period i would lose restriction quickly.... if thats the case with you... get a fill during the times that you are not

Im dizzy.. grumpy and have a nice pounding headache... i know it'll get easier by the weekend but still!! Anyway thats my little rant for the day. Gastric sleeve/menstrual cycle

I have had my sleeve yet.... but when i had my band... my cycles Improved at around the 2 month mark. Went from having one period a year to completely reversing my PCOS and insulin resistance. Since then... my period comes like clockwork. Hang in there... the stress of surgery mucks up your cycle.... it will improve when your body wants it to...
