Yeah... Unfortunately for us emotional eaters... we eat when we are happy, sad, angry, bored, to Celebrate, to mourn...etc There is no escaping it! Btw i replied to your other post regarding the aussie process with the surgeon -

NeedaBreak4Me replied to aussiecosy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is alot different on Australia than the states. Basically we dont get approved as such... we need to be a BMI of 40+ or 35 with health issues. You will meet with your surgeon.. he will hear your story.. and discuss surgery options and make recommendations, then once you have decided to go ahead... you book a hospital date... then see the psych and nutritionist. You do the pre op diet and then you get done... and thats pretty much the process -

Regretting the sleeve so much and afraid I will die or have serious problems down the road
NeedaBreak4Me replied to KittyCathy22's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
KittyCathy.... i wouldn't worry about it too much. Think of it this way.... you would already be aging faster beng 320... so you will actually notice people look and feel younger with weight loss. This surgery has been done for years as the first step to another surgery and also has been used to treat some stomach cancers.... and i would think doctors would not do it on a mass scale if it has the potential to cause major issues down the track. Was this article a medical journal article or is it potential hogwash from around the Internet? -
Friends around you
NeedaBreak4Me replied to fling0228's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fling... in reality they probably dont really understand... im sure they are trying to.. but its quite impossible to understand what it feels like post WLS unless you have actually gone through it. I would try and get support from people who have actually had surgery.... hence why forums.. support groups etc exist. We are all here to support each other.. give eachother advice and the occasional reality check... you have hundreds of people literally going through the same journey... utilise it!! Chin up.... things will get easier with time. ???? -
Friends around you
NeedaBreak4Me replied to fling0228's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im sorry to say... but it is not your friends responsibility to change their eating habits around you. You chose to improve your health and wellbeing by having surgery and no one has the right to judge you on that. Therefore you can not judge your friends on living the lifestyle they have chosen for themselves. This surgery is for life! You will find yourself in many situations where there is food... many social occasions do revolve around food and we all must learn to cope and find a technique to deal with that. I am not trying to be harsh.. but thats the reality. Support is not where everyone in your life must change their lives to accommodate yours. Support is where you can vent your frustration and have people listen and acknowledge and validate your feelings. -
Numbness in outer thigh
NeedaBreak4Me replied to SaraSleeves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I literally just recovered from this 2 weeks ago on my left thigh. I havent had my sleeve yet.. however i broke my leg and was laying down quite a bit... it was doing this for 3 weeks. I tried warm baths.. went to the doctor... it was the femoral nerve that was pinched. He tried to prescribe meds... but the side effects stated were scary, so i decided against them So i used a TENS machine on it.. and then got an adjustment from the chiro... next day it was gone and hasnt returned. Im assuming for me it was from too much laying down and putting pressure on the nerve from hopping around from my injured leg. -
Why is the pre-op diet necessary and so hard?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Lulu_lulu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hun... i feel your pain... trust me.. its not easy. But think of it this way.. we learn very quickly during pre op what our kryptonite is... for you chocolate when studying.. for me its bread when snacking. So this kinda prepares us on how to cope post op when we can not have those things. Maybe buy the chocolate Optifast bars? That'll give you the consistency of a chocolate bar and taste... and you will still follow the pre op rules -

NeedaBreak4Me replied to Lulu_lulu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will also add.... you must do the pre op diet to shrink your liver. During surgery they move your liver to enable them to operate on the stomach. Most obese people have a fatty enlarged liver.. hence if we do not to the pre op diet.. there is a risk for complications. I ask you this...Is damaging your organs worth a piece of chocolate? ☺ -
Why is the pre-op diet necessary and so hard?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Lulu_lulu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't do it!! You will go back to square one! Its not worth it to jeopardise your surgery. The cravings will ease one you are in ketosis. Im on day nine... and i am craving bread and meat.. but i remind myself that this phase will end and after surgery i will have a little more flexibility. Why not have a chocolate flavoured shake? Or chocolate Protein pudding mix? -
Nerve pain after gastric bypass

I had this.... turned out i was deficient in thiamine (B1).. supposedly very common with WLS. You might want to get your doctor to add that to your blood tests -
