    No support from husband

I dont think it is always lack of support as such... I think a lot of times it is lack of understanding.... It is difficult for a non WLS patient to completely understand what we are going through.... i think most of the time with friends and family who do actually care for us they try to understand but in reality they don't.... in their eyes they are not sabotaging you. .. they are just doing what they have always done. We need to be mindful that WE had the surgery because WE need it... WE have made changes...WE have researched.. WE know what needs be done and what to have and not have.... This does not necessarily mean that people in our lives have the same headspace or understanding. .. sometimes we need to realise that they are also having to adapt to change. You are changing... eating has changed, you change physically, mentally, socially, emotionally. Your self esteem, and likes and dislikes..... That is a big change for you and your loved ones..... both sides need to have some empathy ☺ Time, empathy & understanding are key...

Tell me i am not doomed to fail!

Yeah i had promised myself that i was going to put the scales away.... but i just needed the peace of mind of knowing it has moved... now that its moved... i can finally relax and trust in the process.... Olivia... 8 days in hospital? Wow... was everything okay?
  4. Every program is different. We start pureed food the day you leave hospital. We don't get cleared for soft foods till we have the 2 week post op follow up.
  5. Hey there.... The not pooping is normal.... try and have some benefibre to help move things along.. In relation to the odour, i personally did not encounter this, but i would assume that it could be your body detoxing. And if you have bad breath that nothing seems to work on... thats very normal... it means your body is in ketosis, which is exactly what your surgeon wants.

Mine was also on the same day as you... the first couple of days i was hungryish... i think it was more head hunger than actual hunger.... Now that my tummy is settling down and i can drink more Water... the hunger is residing

    Weight loss

I am one week post op and ive lost nothing... not a single thing! I would be dancing on the rooftops if i lost 15! 2 weeks is to premature to be worrying about the weight loss.... i was worried too... but we need to allow our bodies to heal and do what it needs to do. As long as we do the right thing... the weight will come off

    Don't Know what to do

I would ask your doctor to do a manometry test. This tests your esophageal pressure. This will give you a better indication on whether the sleeve is suitable for you
  10. Hey How are you feeling? Was thinking of yoy today... did you end up going to the doctor?

Poached egg week 1 post opp?

Wow that seems to extreme compared to mine.... we completely skipped the liquid part... straight to pureed.. which took me by supprise during the dietitians consultation. I even confirmed it twice with the surgeon and hospital.... i guess thats what they do here in Australia now

Poached egg week 1 post opp?

Well... usually our cravings seem far more yummy than what it actually is in reality.... I cant waiting for 2 weeks to be over... i need some real chewy food

Poached egg week 1 post opp?

Yeah... i understand how you feel. Im suprised how many cravings i am having, i felt like toast this morning and im craving meat... i feel like i have to constantly graze.. but i fight it and stick to my allocated meals. I thought i would have way more restriction, i wonder if this will stop once we move onto solids

Poached egg week 1 post opp?

Its funny how different our programs are. We didnt have to do the post op liquid diet... but we can't have eggs or dry meat etc. Maybe you can make chicken and corn soup.... 1 tin Creamed corn 1 litre chicken stock Chinese 5 spice ... boil. .. then wisk 1 egg and swirl the stock and slowly add the egg whilst swirling. Its satisfying and quite thin.

Poached egg week 1 post opp?

I think it might be too soon to have egg. My program has us on pureed as soon as you leave hopital. Ive had lentils, soggy Cereal, thicker Soups etc. But we were specifically advised NOT to have eggs till we were at least 2 weeks post op

Tell me i am not doomed to fail!

Thats the thing.... i have had one of the best recoveries one could ask for... i went shopping after o got discharged from hospital. Im cooking.. cleaning.. life is pretty much the same as it was pre op. Only difference is i spend way more time focusing on my Fluid.

Tell me i am not doomed to fail!

I sure hope so kindafamiliar.... Its just annoying as hell... well... guess i wait and see... and ill leave those stupid scales alone!!!

Tell me i am not doomed to fail!

Thanks kinmiekaye... i guess i know deep down that my body is healing... but it is so frustrating considering how drastic the food intake is... I need to stop being so hard on myself and learn to trust my body and the process

Tell me i am not doomed to fail!

Bufflehead.... you are right...think i am going to put the scales in the garden shed!! I need to relax and let my body heal and lose when it is ready to... ????

Tell me i am not doomed to fail!

I didnt loose a lot of weight pre op, i lost 13 pounds. I guess ill probably be a slow loser.... i went into surgery weighing 220... and i am 5'7" Ive been getting my Protein and Water... and am recovering wonderfully.... I guess I'm just worried as i had the band removed 12 months ago, since then my metabolism is screwed up...
  21. NeedaBreak4Me

    Post-op Insomnia anyone?

I have had the band and now i have the sleeve... For me... ... the recovery for the sleeve is so much easier than the band. The band had my stomach muscles in pain... with the sleeve, i have literally no pain at all from day 1
  22. NeedaBreak4Me

    Post-op Insomnia anyone?

Do you think perhaps the meds are what are triggering the dreams and headaches? I found when i had the meds in hospital i was actually dreaming (i never normally do) and my sleep was off.... When i got home i didn't take the meds only paracetamol and ive slept perfectly since
  23. Ladies..... im in the same boat as you i had the smoothest recovery ever... i even went shopping after! The only downside is i have not lost any weight yet... still the same weight as my surgery day.. grrrrr I know its probably Water and i know i will lose slowly due to being classified as lightweight. .. but come on!!!! At least some movement!! Lol
  24. NeedaBreak4Me

    I can't eat a proper meal

Yeah.... i had the band for 6 years... just had the sleeve 6 days ago!! I was always tight after flying even with removing the Fluid... Thank god i won't have that problem anymore!
  25. NeedaBreak4Me

    I can't eat a proper meal

Sounds to me the alcohol inflammed your stomach making your band tighter. Stick to non inflammatory soft foods for a couple of days. .. it should resolve. I also found that if i travelled in a plane it would get tighter for a week or so
