Family totally against my surgery
NeedaBreak4Me replied to GinaCampbell's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@GinaCampbell Im going to give you a virtual hug. *big squishy hug* Im sorry you are being treated like this by your daughter.. you deserve love, support and understanding. You should be proud that you have made the choice to change your life, admitting that you have a weight problem and actually doing something about it!! It takes a lot of courage to make such a drastic change.... physiologically, psychologically and physically. My brother actually said to me once i did it... quote.. "girl, you've got some balls to cut off your stomach.... good for you for taking control of your life, at least you are not sitting around stuffing your face sulking about it" When he said that it made me realise.. that he is right..... i could sit here sulking, stuffing my face feeling sorry for myself... or take action and make that change. Basically what i am trying to say is good for you for taking action.... and we got ourselves to thus weight alone...and we will lose it alone.... If your daughter is not speaking to you, she might have her own reasons, she might be scared or maybe she is fearful of doctors because of her son... who knows. Perhaps sit her down and have a frank discussion with her, tell her what you have told us... and explain that the journey is already stressful without her adding further stress by using emotional manipulation. If all else fails.... i am happy to volunteer to be your WLS daughter -

10 days post op, just fell down my stairs. Ouch!
NeedaBreak4Me replied to JosieJ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Aww poor thing... last thing you need in extra pain. Check that your incisions are okay. Like others have said... tylenol is safe... you could also have a warm shower and give your muscles a massage when you lather... a hot Water bottle on the painful parts will help too... -
The feast before the famine...
NeedaBreak4Me replied to tiers4me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a food funeral.. The day before i started my pre op diet.. we went to my favourite place and ate a full 3 courses... i called it my "last supper"... We even took pictures of my last bite with all the empty plates surrounding. I took that pic to mark an end of an era.... and the start of a next one. Now that i am post op... i love that picture... i look at it and im much bigger... it reminds me that all that food is what got me there. So i use it as a motivational thing. I'm the type that needs closure... and that one night was enough for me -

Should i exercise
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Chaelove0810's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are only 4 weeks... relax a little with the exercise... try not to over do it.. you are still healing... If you weren't exercising before your body is going to freak out if you go from 0 to 100... Take it slowly.. walk at a comfortable pace and incline.. and push yourself to do a little extra each day... Ive always been a fast walker.. and luckily for a fatty i am quite fit... however when i first started i would push myself to do just 5 extra minutes every day... if i couldn't ... then i would try again the next day... it got to the point where that extra 5 mins added up.. the fitter you get the easier it becomes -
Try taking your PPI later in the day. I was instructed to take my PPI at 4pm... as there is sufficient food in my stomach and it would keep the acid under control. Perhaps the reason for your issues is that you are taking all the meds during a short period of time and this is irritating something.

Cake Tasting! [emoji546][emoji1445]
NeedaBreak4Me replied to Sandra86says's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are only getting married once (hopefully)... enjoy the experience! You can have your cake and eat it too... on the days that you do splurge on naughty stuff... supplement it with an extra hour on the treadmill or reduce your calories in other ways. It is about balance.. you can have your tasting of cake...but give yourself a boundry.. one bite... just don't go having the entire slice of each. I wouldn't want to not be involved in the enjoyment of doing the traditional wedding stuff... its a milestone that should be enjoyed.. and yes cake is part of that... 1 bite will not kill you.. it might make you dump... but its good test for the wedding day... you do not want to dump at your reception!! Congratulations on your wedding -
Sugar free options without nutrasweet?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to theantichick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally do not like sugar... especially the artificial stuff. . It makes me feel funky. You could make your own popsicles... freeze some Water with some juice for flavor. You could also freeze flat lemonade (there won't be any carbonation) Honestly.. i brought the normal stuff... i wasnt having sugar in anything else so for the first 2 weeks i didnt worry too much. . I was only eating a quarter of it anyway -
High pulse rate after sleeve surgery
NeedaBreak4Me replied to missrossina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Unless you have a history of heart issues... i would be rather supprised if it is anything serious. Dehydration causes more issues that we realise. Having low electrolytes will cause all sorts of symptoms.. we need the salt and potassium. It is vital that you increase your Water... the last thing you want is to have to go to the hospital to get an IV. Check the color of your pee... my rule that helps me know is.... If its darker than the color of a baby chicken.... you are definitely dehydrated lol... a yellow chicken not a black or brown one hahahaha -
What are your favorite snacks?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to hernewselfie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am not a sweet tooth and i like salty... so when i need my "salty" fix i have been having dry roasted chickpeas... they are 11g of Protein per serving!!!!!!! I only have one serve when i need my fix. Otherwise on a regular day... i have sliced turkey deli meat and wrap it in a small bit of laughing cow cheese... My go to Snacks are- String cheese Babybel cheese rounds Low fat Peanut Butter Hummus Boiled eggs -
High pulse rate after sleeve surgery
NeedaBreak4Me replied to missrossina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Early out i had heart palpitations and a faster heart rate.. for me i drank some electrolytes and they eased quite dramatically.. during my first two weeks i was not drinking as much as i am now (5 weeks out) and once i uppped my Water level it settled down. I notice that if i have not met most of my water for the day i do get little flutters... So i made a rule for myself... that i cant go to bed without meeting my water goals. You might be dehydrated... if you are struggling consider breaking up the water to soften it... i know for me.. adding sugar free flavour helped... i also infuse my water with lemon and mint... thay helped the most.. it really softens the water and helps me get more in. Obviously wait for your results from your doctor... but increasing your hydration is a must regardless of the results. Good luck and keeps us posted -
How do you flavor your water?
NeedaBreak4Me replied to UsernameTaken's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My go to Water is fresh mint and a quarter of a slice of lemon... Orange and lemon orange and cinnamon Apple and cinnamon Lime and raspberry Lemon and lime Cucumber and lemon I found it helped a lot early out to soften the water making it easier to drink -
Shower + Incisions
NeedaBreak4Me replied to juliawhatever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It should be fine to shower.. if it worries you too much you can put some extra dressing whilst you shower then take it off. The pain where the IV is normal... i had a bruised pain for around 2 weeks... i think i irritated the area whilst doing my laps around the ward with my IV in.. it will go away -
Oh no! I let an inside thought slip out! I'm such a terrible person... What is wrong CHM... you are not supposed to be human!! You are not allowed to have inside thoughts here remember lol you are meant to be a politically correct hypocritical robot!! Didn't you get the memo??

I ate solids 10 days post op.....feel like a loser
NeedaBreak4Me replied to iheartShavon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hun... you are NOT a loser... you are human ! It is a difficult diet to stick to... and i am pretty sure that a majority of us have had that thought of cheating post op. However... the reason the post op diet is so strict is because we need to heal. solid food (as you learned the hard way) can cause pain... a leak or a number of surgical complications. Take it as a lesson learned and try to keep yourself busy when you have this feeling... it won't be forever only a couple of weeks.... in the grand scheme of things... its a small percentage of your journey. Is a sausage worth spending weeks in hospital because of a leak? Is it worth having to be fed by a tube? Is it worth being on liquids for weeks? Cause that is what potentially could happen! If you feel the need to do it again... come to us... we will talk you out of it.. we are here to support each other -
Experienced frothing for the first time...OMG
NeedaBreak4Me replied to camry2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I literally got this the other day.. I hadn't eaten for a few hours because i was in back to back meetings. .. i left work and came home and cause i was hungry i must of ate way to quickly. I got the foamies for around 20 mins.... then puke... out it all went... lesson learned on my part... don't eat to fast or not chew enough... -
Aww i am sorry you had to deal with that kind of judgement. I would take her aside as tell her straight up that this is your journey and choice and that you do not appreciate the additional pressure and judgement on top of what you are going through. You are doing what is right for you... and perhaps in a warped way she thought she was giving you good advice.... but this is your journey. . Ignore the naysayers and forcus on doing you. In a few months when you are looking and feeling fabulous.. they will realise you made the right choice... Congratulations on your weight loss... you have done an amazing job so far... keep doing what you are doing.... and ignore them...
